This is surely one of the most astonishing versions I've ever heard of this million-time-played standard. To start out with: the key. Eb minor, not your most common, but with a colour unique of its own. This is a jazzy, groovy, funky version that will keep many on their toes. Thanks for sharing.

@@elainejohnson796 I could tell, you were trying to be a braggart and seem smart. My point is that being a crab in a bucket doesn't make you seem like you have potential, it shows you reached your peak: being arrogant. It's where the MAJORITY of people with some small amount of learning or talent go to die. Dunning Kruger effect. Hope you grow out of it, it is very obvious in musicians and artists. I'm sure it's already lost you plenty of opportunities if you are this proud of being an arrogant fool.
@woolfel

I honestly don't understand why the music industry and music schools feel the need to categorize and box music. Just let musicians feel the music and express themselves. Your rendition grooves and reminds me of bebop era, when jazz musicians would just freely play what ever they felt.
@shadowzerg
@shadowzerg Год назад
Without those boxes it is very difficult to find specific styles that you like, and even harder to reproduce them. There is nothing wrong with understanding why something is in a particular category. It's important for mastery in all domains. The more you understand, the better you can express. This, from a musician of over a decade

@@bhandos9062 I've heard just as many stuck up jazz musicians say the same. It's not like it matters what they say anyhow, enjoy what you enjoy and don't enjoy what you don't enjoy.
@shadowzerg
@shadowzerg 11 месяцев назад
@@bhandos9062 Well, really it depends on their intent and what you're attempting to accomplish. If they are trying to enhance your playing it may not be ego. For example, certain notes are proven to create tension when combined and that may not be the effect that you wish to produce, or hand technique that may result in injury long term, etc. But if we're just talking about you making any kind of music that you desire, that is always up to you, no matter what. It's all about intent in the end ya know?
@JonMarM
@JonMarM 10 месяцев назад
Music is dynamic and it always has been. Man puts music in a category just as we put everything in categories. Why? It’s easier to control, reproduce and manipulate. By doing this, we leave out much of the essence and intuitive aspect of music then we label it “technical.”
