"You Could Make Things Easier For Me." - Schindler's List (1993) #shorts #schindlerslist #movie
Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic historical drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the 1982 novel Schindler's Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. The film follows Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist who saved more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during World War II. It stars Liam Neeson as Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as SS officer Amon Göth, and Ben Kingsley as Schindler's Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern.

Goeth walks up to Schindler and starts complaining about the directives he's received from Berlin and all the practical and administrative problems he's undergoing to make this disapoetance of evidence happen. At that moment the cold efficiency of the "Final Solution" is really brought home to us in a totally chilling way. I thought to myself, "My God. I don't think it is that simple because results are bound by money, time, manpower and other resources that don't make multiple overlapping projects to clash to the extent one would expect. An example would be the building of fences on these camps. Transfering the resources allocated to this project to say building more tanks might not be that simple. Maybe you have a wire factory already in place from before the war that can only produce wire. You have the skilled workers that would need to be retrained and move cities to the said tank factory, which might not even have a shortage of workers, because the assembly only requires a certain amount, bound by the speed of the moulding process, etc. The nazis got unpaid labour out of these camps as the video also shows. And even if you produce more than enough tanks, do you have enough trained soldiers to operate them? Fuel? All resources have to come together at the same time, and place is what I am getting at. Just like how a computer is just as fast as its slowest component, here too, the surplus of resources won't yield better results unless ALL resources are scaled at the same time. While all these said resources are bound by many limitations, such as topology. TLDR: It may have been possible to do both without one holding back the other too much.

After this movie, Spielberg’s quality came down a few notches. He made Saving Private Ryan and that’s that. No more ET, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Raiders of the lost ark, Last crusade level magic. After Schindler’s List he made a lot of dignified movies which can be considered as great in any other Director’s filmography, but his movies lost that childlike innocence dreaming of a magical adventure that only he could create. 🥂

The worst part about really learning about the Nazis is learning how human and mundane they were. They weren't, for the most part, more evil per person than any other group. Its chilling how easily the mundane and average can be turned into genocide and evil. Even worse such evil still occurs to this day. I don't mean nazism, those that exist are two few to truly hold a threat. However genocide and large amounts of death are still frequent to this day on an smaller scale. The Chinese for example have rounded up an entire population of Muslim practioners and placed them into camps far away from prying eyes.

@thomasvleminckx 2 месяца назад
@@aroccoification ... The people who give out the permits are part of the Reich. They are in occupied territory. The construction of *anything* on German territory, conquered or otherwise, requires a permit. And these are work camps, not destruction camps like Auschwitz, the movie clearly distinguishes between those. Auschwitz is a military operation, while any industrialist with enough money and patience (and loyalty to the Reich) can open a labor camp and put captured Jews to work. Every once in a while, the government may pay your private camp a visit to take a few of your inmates for destruction in places like Auschwitz. Just watch the movie, it's mostly historically accurate.

I dont understand why these r always getting loved so much whenever someone talks abt them i dont think they look aesthetically pleasing due to the strange proportions and i also dont think they're really effective. you basically punch with it, which is the by far weakest form of performing a thrust and the easiest for an opponent to parry your weapon or get control of it. You just lack a good grip and good control of your weapon. There is a reason why everything else in the world aligns with its handle. Imagine digging a hole with a shovel you hold like that, or cutting wood with an axe... or thrusting with a dagger. It gives me a strong vibe of 1. People like it because it looks unusual but is real, since most people find real weaponry to be boring 2. People like it because its not from a western country and you're so tasteful when you like it and omg culture whatever
