We wanted to check out the trail down from Col Sapin, above Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley, Italy.
It looked pretty cool on the map, with some great switchbacks, and then a sweet looking traverse that finally dropped into Courmayeur itself.
That traverse was a real kick in the teeth! After 1200m of climbing, we were only good for going down hill 🤣 . The route follows the contour lines on the map so it's not obvious how much it undulates... but luckily for you, we've tested it so you don't have to! Unless of course you like that kind of thing...
Definitely a good day out with some stunning views and autumn colours, but maaaaan that traverse was tough! We were so done in at the end, it was unreal.
E-bike friendly? Yep. You'd ride up a lot of what we had to push, and the part where we carried (up to Col Sapin) is pushable too.

That was beautiful scenery. It's interesting how climbs can be so different. We rode at Kanuga Bike Park in North Carolina, in the states & the climb was only 520 feet but was such an intense climb we were done in. But the next day we rode Ridgeline trail in Dupont State Forest where the climb was just under 700 feet and that climb, while steady the entire time, was not bad. We could have easily done that climb multiple times whereas the climb at the first place was once only! Definitely will rent e-bikes if we go back there again!

Yeah I totally know what you mean! Had the same experience on two similar recent rides of the same elevation gain, and one felt really horrible compared to the other!
