Several years ago I stopped to get gas at a little country store down the road from us. I saw this man and was almost speechless. All I said was "you look like " and he smiled and said, "Kenny Roger's. People always tell me that." I will always wonder if it was actually Kenny Roger's or not since I haven't seen that man around here since that one time. RIP Kenny Rogers

Imagine how many times he sang this song publicly. And he still sings it like he means it & is fresh. He certainly was one to grow in to a better look with age.
Coming from a broken home in the mid-70s was not an easy road to hoe. Not at all. A two-edged sword that seemed to exist during this time was the fact that an inordinate number of tear-jerking authentic ballads (some of the most poignant music ever recorded, really) were infiltrating the airwaves every single day--and every night. Let's just say that this sort of music could whisk an already sensitive, unsteady lad into a very forlorn and lonesome place. For me, it certainly did. And given the very young age at which this Ballad-Bonanza was unleashed, my weary mind was altered, irreversibly. There was simply no choice, and no escaping it. Though I have no regrets - and as a matter of fact, went on to become a songwriter myself - to this day, I get weak on certain levels whenever I hear Kenny... And, I really really love him for that. From here to eternity....

I’m shocked I know A HELLA LOT of Kenny’s songs. Mom and dad listened to this stuff when I was a young lad. It was cool with me. I’m looking back on all his songs after his passing. Big K was a REAL singer. Not all this auto tune chit he didn’t need. RIP Big K 🤘
