Yes, 100% agree with your thoughts... After my Dad's heart attack a few years ago, it really stung whenever people casually said "oh it gave me a heart attack..." when mentioning something relatively insignificant. People can be really insensitive. Loved your snowy walk, so beautiful! Xo

Agree whole heartedly with your rant!!!! People don't pay enough attention to their words. Love the torque good job S&K😊 you do know her sooo well. Beautiful walk in the snow, you know how special that is to me. So glad Thomas is having a nice visit with grandma. If your never been to BC add it to your bucket list for sure🤗

I was in a coma following a car accident in 1993. The expression that bugs me is “ I slept like I was in a coma “! I have called people out on that one. I tell them it’s not funny.
@Sandler23

Barb Butler rather than feel outraged like the social justice warrior you are, use the situation to your benefit by saying that you were once in a coma and start a conversation about comas rather than just walking around angry all day.

Sandler23 I said it bugged me, I don’t feel enraged all day. Life is way to short, I often educate people about brain injury. I rarely am enraged!

Sandler23 also, why did you refer to me as a social justice warrior? It sounds critical and the last thing I would expect from a Mareathoner. I feel like I am being unfairly judged as you don’t know me.

I think he was calling you out. The expression isn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings. If it offends you, you are being way too sensitive. Life is too short to be offended by the English language.

You always have such a positive, optimistic attitude. You really are an inspiration to others. Thank you for sharing your days with us!!! 💕

Not insensitive at all. In my case, people still toss out the phrase, 'spastic' -and since I have spastic Cerebral Palsy, that word is cringe-worthy. Words matter.

100% agree with your ENTIRE “rant” side note have you watched Tamara taggarts ted talk “two conversations that changed my life” it’s so so good

I know when my cousin passed away suddenly in a car accident, it really bothered his sister when people would say "i'm dying". I can understand how irritating that would be.

I understand where you’re coming from and while it doesn’t make it ok I don’t think majority of people mean to upset you. Exaggeration has always been a thing. Even things like “first world problems” could be upsetting to someone. Yet it’s said by lots of people.

Minimalchaos I agree. I think people are so numb to these phrases that nobody stops to think that what they are saying is offensive or that it may hurt someone. If you just read through these comments you will see that people are triggered by all kinds of different things. What may be hurtful to me may be looked at as over sensitive to another. We are a society that gets offended over everything these days. Even writing this comment I am nervous that someone will be offended and I mean absolutely no harm or hurt to anyone. For these reasons I personally chose to just let things like that go. Nobody knows that a certain thing they will say may affect me in a sensitive way if they don't know me or my story. This is not to say that many over dramatic statements don't grate on my nerves it's just I choose not to react to it. I hope that makes sense?

I’m with you on the words thing! It gets to me when people say things like that I even get frustrated when someone says something like, “oh my back is killing me”is it really? You are totally not overreacting or being too sensitive. Ps your outside shoots make me miss being home in Penticton so so much. Especially by the creek. I used to live in the same complex you live in now when I was in jr high school.

There's power in the tongue. We have to watch our idle words. So glad you like living in Penticton, me too. I like your new toque with furry pom pom and T's reindeer cardigan. Pretty curly hair after swimming. Nice to go for a quiet walk by the creek. Good vegan meal. xx

Words are very important. My brother In law is mentally handicapped and I can't stand when people say the "r" word. In any way they say it it bothers me I wish I had the nerve to say something especially when these ppl know me and my family. Drives me crazy!!!

I'm with you with the words!! My rant would be: being a person 59 years old, with a lot of health problems, operations and things,a lot of pain every day. That it would be my 'own fault'?? I should ask the universe for a better health? Or I must be a very bad person in a former life!

I agree on all the 'words' my personal pet peeves are "I am starving" and "She or he is[was] dressed like a homeless person" Freak I hate that! Breath....exhale....Peace, Jxx

Thinking about your rant. The vlog you unsubscribed to, what bothers me about that is they took their dislike of that Christmas gift to such a public forum. It’s one thing to dislike the lime green doily spare tire cover great-Aunt Gertie gave you, but to mimic hanging yourself about receiving such a gift on You Tube...disgusted. Words do matter, and sometimes they hurt more than if somebody physically assaults you. See ya tomorrow!
