I’ve been listening to this man’s words and speaking’s everything single day for a long time now and my life has been changing for the better in everything I do. It’s like exponential momentum to do the good and proper thing. This man has done more for me than he will ever know and he will most likely never know my face or name

I re-watched the TVO special of Mr. Peterson's lecture, Slaying the Dragon Within Us about two days ago. As I revisited the video today for reference I noticed that it had over 75 million views since its uploading by thegunnerboy99 four years ago. I don't know how you do it, but your timing and attention to viewership is spot on, Mr. Peterson. P.S. As always, thank you for your continued service to humanity.

His ability to tell us that which we already knew in a way that makes it take and be significant is amazing.

Always appreciate his ability to apply mythology to confronting the problems of everyday life. Never really understood the pragmatic value of these stories until I heard him speak about them.

I often wonder when you see old clips of him doing lectures in Uni, did any of those kids realise they were in the presence of a living legend

Thanks Dr. Peterson, that one really resonates with me. Probably because it's an allegory directly from The Hobbit. I liked this idea coupled with using fear behind you as a driving force from one of your other videos. Using negative energy to propel you towards positive outcomes is probably one of the most powerful secrets to success I've learned in life.

Hi Mr. Peterson! I don't know if you know yet, but the etymology of dragon means "he who stares" or he who watches. Something along those lines. Which fits very keenly with ideas you've put forward about how important it is, not to look away from problems.

I spent 5 years at university, as an adult, in a different country, very non-inclusive but thankfully no language barrier, and transferred to a different school halfway through, with earthquakes and every other adversity you can imagine, with this very goal my aim. Yet I persevered and gained my degree and now back in my home country 5 years later, after a continuous cataclysm of political mismanagement and disarray, I feel so much worse off and sometimes wish I'd chosen a different path and slain a different monster.

Embrace it own it, don’t b ashamed by it..

I have been looking to find a Jordan Peterson talk where he is talking about: at the end, God will try to "step back" and see if it "works" I can't find it... and I can't see it working either. I think God's presence means justice. Where forces that are stronger than justice prevail, God has not enough people who keep up meaning and truth. More people practicing or enabling abuse (of others or/and power), corruption, lies and have not enough inner need or strength to reject these "forces".

Perhaps one way education can be improved - which is probably why Jordan made the point of saying he doesn't understand why they don't tell you how to make the most of your education - is by giving you credit for confronting the dragon. There is literally no credit for this whatsoever. Ironically, some of the people getting the least school credit may very well be confronting the dragon more often. This is because they are more often in the more uncomfortable position - the place they don't want to be - and choose to carry on in this state anyway. An interesting example of this is at the end of Talladega Nights, when the father finally has the opportunity to live a happy life with a loving family, but then turns away and says something to the effect of it being wrong. Does he prefer to be with the loving family, or the extreme discomfort of his current circumstances? It's actually hard to say... He may have habitualized himself to the discomfort, formed an identity around it, etc. But it points directly at the path people take, instinctively for the better development of the self, whereby external credit is more a dream/desire than the persuit itself. There are tons of people out there doing this; competence for its own sake. Educational credit is really nothing more than a hope that there exists a coincidence between the tasks they issue and the willingness to pursue the uncomfortable. Perhaps if the average extends far enough out in a person's life (like gpa) you can assume this more comfortably. That's a pretty Janky way of accomplishing it if you ask me.

One can be the dragon in someones story, because the protagonist value the gold you have in your liar. Dragons will opt to fly and leave their liar full of gold, in order to save the egg. The gold just gave warmth to the nest. Now we have this idea that dragons really protect gold. Dragons protect the egg. If they do not, they are not dragons, they are devils.
