I should have mentioned in the video that after the live shoot… I wanted to make both portraits identical and used a tripod for the comparisons. Looking at her mouth, you can see one is slightly opened more than the other. Also, at 1:42, I show the metadata for both files. So, yes, both images were created with different cameras.

You are absolutely on the right track here, look at all the beautiful award winning images that were taken in the days of so-called "bad digital cameras", that many today consider just to be toys. They prove how it was (and still is) absolutely possible to take stunning images with lower spec gear... but camera companies desperately push the other agenda, thats how they generate sales and profit. I have not even mentioned the VERY old gear that was used decades ago, almost pinhole cameras shooting photos we still use in photographic education because they are considered masterpieces that stood the test of time. Today most would laugh at what they used back then, or happily throw away such gear without a second thought... which obviously serves the never ending GAS frenzy, that Nikon, Sony, Canon and others are gaslighting.... The latest “necessary” thing they push on us claiming it will change our lives is of course … mirrorless, and everyone runs together blindfolded imagining its the solution to mankind's problems

This is absolutely true.. in a controlled studio setting. The same could apply to lenses - a 50mm 1.8 could take the same shot as a 50mm f0.95 if theyre both shot at F8. Or you can make a pizza fresh with pricy ingredients and with cheap ones and theyll both be a pizza. A lot of the value from newer cameras are the quality of life improvements. Faster shutter speed (1-2 shots every 30 seconds is difficult!), faster and more accurate focusing, better dynamic range and resolution, video modes, better focusing options and tracking, better ISO (higher levels and lower noise). While you can get that same photo in studio with controlled light, youre gonna have a bad time shooting outdoors, events, and anythint that requires more than that

It's probably just me, but I immediately noticed that the right one was softer and less detailed and that the colors were less lively. And, like others mentioned, newer cameras offer quality of life improvements. Is it worth the extra money? Depends on your budget and what you're willing to spend for those improvements.

Great video, CP! I just traded my D-850 for a Z-8 and am reading the user guide in advance of its arrival. I’m one of those people who keep Nikon in business 😂. But I’ve also seen iPhone magazine covers - so your video is right on point!

Is this your first z cam? Mine was the z6 and I hated it for a long time. Definitely hard to get use to the electronic viewfinder in the beginning. But, once you do, you'll love it. Especially the z8.

Can I start wildlife photography with a 210mm lens?

It's possible. You'll need a tele and/or longer lens for tight portraits.

How is that you got exactly the same picture with two different cameras? Even the lock of hair on her left side is in the very same position. Please share how did you do it, I find it hard to replicate photos

Thanks for bringing that up. At 1:42, I show the metadata for both files. So, yes, both images were created with different cameras. @@ParkerPhotographic That's what I wanted to know, how did you get that. I try to replicate portraits but never look the same. Seems like it's as simple as the use of a tripod and a great model for sure. Your video's encouraging! Thank you!
