I watched your review on the Liberty Air 2 vs Airpods, and it made me realize that the ANC probably isn't there yet for the True Wireless. I had the original Liberty Airs and loved them but found the touch controls were sketchy. But it rings true that when you have the silicone tips in there is still a level of noise cancellation already. Anyway, I bought the Air 2s and have high expectations for them. Anker has always served me well. Also, do you have an everyday earbud you prefer?
When I first watched this video about 4 months ago, I was convinced I didn’t need ANC. Especially with all these planned obsolescence manufacturers put into their products to make us spend more! Then I tested the Sony WF-1000XM3 for about 2 weeks recently and I was sold! Hear me out, now. I use my earbuds for commuting and exercise, so I’m always around this constant humming - road noise, carriage noise, unsolicited yappings etc. I didn’t have to listen to my music on a very loud volume to drown out these noises. Even even when music isn’t being played, the ANC drowns out about 60-70% of the background giving me a much quieter scape. Then I went back to using my regular buds after testing. I didn’t get that “drowning-in-my-own-world” feeling again! Even when I increase the volume, music becomes too loud and doesn’t feel as satisfying. So I reckon, ANC is one of those things that you don’t know you’d like till you try it - like a strong brew. But again, to each their own. Thanks!
good audio gear practically lasts forever, just take care of it. I dont have ANC but recently i had this feeling like id like an actual time of quiet, no white noise, and im concerned with hearing deterioration especially because of commute which can get very noisy; i wouldnt wanna hear anything i didn't need to.
partly agreed. I'm still using my foam earbuds as it blocks out most noises and I can keep the volume lower for less damage to hearing. However, in very noisy environment like the mass transit, I have to turn the volume considerably higher. ANC would be a bonus to lower noise so that I can keep the volume lower in very noisy environment. Unfortunately the sound quality is not up to par when ANC is on.
I was strugling about buying a buds with anc, and I don't really know why I was obsessed with this technology before this video, thank you bro for help me to see what I really wanted insted what the companies makes us need something
Your points are all valid but for some people, active noise canceling with pass-thru is the best option. Whether I'm at home listening to an audiobook or playing some relaxing music, I'd rather have it so I can tune out the rest of the world. But in public, being able to hear what's going on around you becomes increasingly important. With that in mind...my next pair of wireless earbuds will be able to do just that.
Dude, your vids are so well researched and presented. Good advice too. You clearly have a love for this. Really good channel and i hope you have proper success with it.
This video is just want I needed! I already own over-ear headphones by marshall (for style reasons) with noise cancelling. I wanted an additional pair of in-ear headphones for longer travels, listening to music in bed in crowded motel rooms etc. and I was convinced that I needed in-ear headphones with noice cancelling, even though the battery life is pretty crap most of the time and most of them are too heavy for my ears. I tried the Sony WF-1000XM3, but they came loose constantly and stopped playing because „I took them out“ even tho I still had them in my ears - they just came a bit loose! I was so annoyed, because those are suppose to be the best ones yet and they just weren‘t for me at all. I was pretty frustrated. Your video actually made me remember that I owned pretty cheap Anker headphones without ANC (until I lost them) and I was perfectly happy with them. I‘ll probably skip the in ear anc trend. Thank you for this!
No problem at all! There are so many options out there today that are affordable and do well to reduce noise passively. If you need some light and comfortable suggestions, let me know! Thanks for taking the time to comment
ShoAndTech Thanks for the reply! I looked into several alternatives for the sonys and the Jabra 75t seem to be pretty good, but true wireless have such bad battery life. Can you recommend them or do you have a good alternative? Cheaper is always appreciated. :D thank you so much!
Tbh I just like your content. I already have earbuds, but you're making me want to get more with all he info you give us through the reviews. GL man, you do great content and as soon as you get noticed, you'll blow up.
Haha it definitely becomes an addiction once you have a few earbuds that do different things well! Thanks for taking the time to support, I appreciate it
There are as many needs for ANC as there are noisy environments, and there are MANY. Seems as though people that don't really need them are the ones that don't like them. Its not complicated. They contribute to better listening in noisy environments and detract from overall sound quality in quiet environments. Shakespeare said, "Much ado about nothing."
a rational and very welcome view on the ANC earbuds ... as a music lover and a classical music lover and like to listen to my loved music on the go I was one of the first to get ANC earphones and headphones when they become available to consumers in the 1980's .. to be very honest, most of the time one simply do not need ANC. ANC had its place but its now just being used to hype the consuming. Mfr need to hype something so customer will keep buying and headphones / earphones are not something really one need to be changing year to year
ANC earbuds is a must for me I work for a plywood plant here in Louisiana and here inside the plant can get pretty loud especially on the machine that I work on
I actually like the ANC tech because I can use them as earplugs in addition to earphones. And switching off ANC is seamless and easy. Also I enjoy using it at home since I have a window AC unit and when watching TV it does a beautiful job of silencing it as well as the noise from the church across the street
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve never considered the point you’ve made about ANC. I’m a big fan of different perspectives and this was well explained without being condescending. Short and succinct point, Well done!
ShoAndTech But there’s the genius of the video. Your not saying NO ANC! For earbuds it’s something to just force another talking point to justify $250 when $100 dollars gets you everything you could want...just no ANC... me I’m more interested in ANC in overear headphones
Great points to consider. Very informative. I would much prefer pass through so when I’m running I can still hear my surroundings. Continue to do what you do. Looking forward to your next video
the sony 1000xm4 were freaking awesome. it was a beautiful site not being able to hear anything but my music.. but I CANT WEAR THEM, or any ANC headphones for that matter. they make me dizzy... seasick. i dont know why, but as soon as i put them on i get a really bad case of vertigo.
Great video man great contents. Keep up the good work. These large tech company have turns us into fanatics and we don't even know it. Whenever they put something new out there we just eagerly buy it without even asking ourselves if we actually need it.
ANC is 9/10 anyways just a white noise generator, I don't need it as long the in ear headphone have a proper seal. ANC is just not ther yet. I prefer battery life over a prototype technologie, wich the Galaxy Buds + gives me and they fit me the best from all over the other buds that have a similar formfactor. ANC is just for now a marketing trick. Thx for your honest review! :)
@@ShoAndTech I can definitely hold off. I don't even really need them right now. Pure impulse purchase and this video knocked some sense into me 😂 Good channel man!
Thanks for giving actual insights into the subject, rather than trying to persuade everyone to your side by listing cons of noise cancellation. I personally only use headphones when I want to listen to music, and only listen to music, so ANC is a great feature, but it isn't for everyone.
Think the ANC option is overrated, like you said, with the right eartips you won't hear outside noise. Which brings me to Ambient sound, I had a pair of Galaxcy plus buds that you could put via the app into Super human hearing, like many reviewers claimed, RUBBISH, I was listening to YT, had my stereo on at low volume, and music on my earbuds at 25% volume With Ambient sound on highest level, I could not hear my stereo, I could not hear YT. Walking outside with 50% volume could not hear cars going buy ( was not a electric car haha) So having earbuds without ANC or Ambient, or wireless charging is not a problem for me, its just costing you more money
The good thing with the breakthrough of ANC in the market is how it lowered the price of products that don't have it. Can't say how happy I am with my Audio Technica M20, incredible sound quality, batter never dies and just enough isolation to let you hear without getting disturbed... all this for less than 100 euros.
I work in an industrial manufacturing environment, -30dB earplugs required. Still noisy. Looking for Hybrid ANC to reduce passive noise reduction further. I know aircraft ANC headphones can make a noisy aircraft engine sound like it was shut off when ANC is turned on. This is NOT the case with earbuds. Hybrid earbuds do better, but talking is almost unintelligible. I really would like to see a comparison of manufacturer earbuds, reviewed based on sound quality of hearing and talking in loud industrial environments. Many hundreds of thousands of people work in industrial environments. Having a comparison review specific to industrial environments could go viral. ... I'd share !!!! Recording a cellphone conversation outside, and then the same conversation inside a machine shop, or other industry. Both in a video for each earbud tested.
I mean I kind of do need them because I have misophonia so the smallest sounds drive me nuts, but then, simple foam earplugs work almost as well. But I realize I'm a special case, so this could apply to others.
I don’t want anc on my ear buds. No matter what headphones you have the anc will change the sound signature while it’s active. I agree with you there is no need on the buds. Now send me those free headphones lol
I'm still rocking a galaxy note 3. Not one for needing the newest tech. Anyone who remembers commadore 64 games that didn't load or vcrs isn't that fussy. However the anc is awesome. Gives me a lot of peace on my travels. I do also use construction style ear protectors whenever I have noisy neighbours or the outside traffic is really loud.
My boss is a frequent flyer for work purposes and he loves his sony buds as they help to block out lot of noise on the airplane such as children crying and stuff like that.
Congrats on the sub count. Honestly, I rather have ambient mode more than anc. Especially when I'm out jogging. He only time I ever use anc is when I'm flying. And even then, its not often I go on a plane.
Maybe if we traveled more we would find it more important haha but I've always been fine with my regular passive noise cancel on trips. Ambient mode is the necessity for sure
@@ShoAndTech yup. Almost went for the Shanling tws for the ambient mode. But the fact that it didn't have aptx was a turn off, Knowles BA be damn. Looking at the Mifo 07/TFZ X2, but we'll see. Got my sights on the Fiio EH3 for now.
Fun Story: A friend of me has the Anker Soundcore Life P2 and he said the active noise cancelation is really good. Reading the specs i found out now, that these have no noise cancelation :)! So its all imagination!
Haha yeah those just have passive cancelation from the ear gels. There is noise cancellation from the mics when you're talking on the phone however to isolate your voice.
@@ShoAndTech Thanks for your video. You saved me some money. I was thinking about buying some earbuds with noise cancelation. And i already have the Sony Headphones 1000MX3. So i think i will use these for working and buy some cheap earbuds without anc for sport and running.
I’d like if it was more normalized to be able to switch the ANC on/off. I think it’s great for studying or when I want my peace... but sometimes I like to be able to hear what’s going on around me
Only earbuds I have ever tried with ANC are my Sony Wf-1000xm3 and they are supposed to be some of the best in that category but I have to totally agree with you, ANC really isn't a deal breaker, not for me either, my JabraElite 75t blocks ambient sound more or less just as good.
ShoAndTech Yes. I was thinking recently of what noise cancelling earbuds I should buy. Because if I buy wf1000xm3 it would have the best anc but I won't get transparency mode. And if I buy airpods pro I will get all the features but it's overpriced. I can't really choose, but I might just go for airpods pro for everyday convenient use, because of it's easy connect to iphone and it's small most convenient case and transparency mode. What do you think sir?
My original airpods have finally reached their end after being used for several hours every day and also from me dropping them etc, just wear and tear really. Any recommendations for earbuds less than £60? Although ANC is not required I would like to at least try it, especially now with the market gravitating towards affordable ANC wireless earbuds.
Noise-isolating headphones do reduce ambient noise a little, but most generic headphones weren't designed with that in mind (Especially the very low budget options) Noise cancelation doesn't actually cancel out everything, that is especially true for the Fruitpods Proke. The ANC there is better than not having any, but really laughable against serious contenders from e.g. BOSE, SONY... But then again, why should anyone judge anyone how people throw easy money out of which window? What am I doing here? What is the meaning of the multiverses and their 5 dimensions?
I'm looking for some earphones WITHOUT ANC and it's difficult to even google them, it's all ANC now. I want them for a quiet environment and ANC is really a drawback as I can definitely hear the noise-cancelling noise, it's disgusting.
Thank you....thank you...thank you. It is so easy to get caught up in the hype. Question: do you have an opinion on earbuds with really good sound quality and yes I can hear the difference in sound quality.
but i don't want to always blast my ears with music when i want to get rid of the noise around me. does ANC work when i have nothing playing in my ear buds?
Great video, very informative. I actually have both the liberty Air 2’s and Liberty 2 Pro’s and love them both for different reasons. I actually emailed Soundcore and asked if they could enable an ambient mode/pass through, with a firmware upgrade? I await their response.
Just had this debate with a Co worker. I have the jabra 75t and cant really hear anything else when theyre in. Co worker has air pod pros, used his.. Wasn't much different with anc on and furthemore, it altered the sound of my music.
I agree. To me it’s just a marketing gimmick to raise the price when most earbuds with the right fit tips will do the trick for less money and still sound just as good!
I totally agree with you. I mean, ANC means you need Transparency mode. So if you didn’t have ANC in the first place, you wouldn’t need a transparency mode as well. Haha. 😀
ShoAndTech I agree, but if the earbuds had passive instead of active noise cancellation, that could let in some decent background audio to the listener to increase their awareness.
You are wrong, I do need ANC earbuds, but not Apple's for sure, I've tried their latest version and they are horrible. I really wanted good ANC but I've only food enough good ANC and comfortable fit with "Bose QC Earbuds II".
Battery last longer without! Also my AirPods Pro’s ANC stopped working just after a few years and is makes a pooping and clicking noise when activated otherwise they work perfect without and I can’t even tell a difference. Battery is good sound is good just noise canceling tec broken lol. Airpod pro 1st gen.
ANC makes me feel like I want to vomit. I sold my Bose QC after a month. Now I have a normal Airpods for everyday use, and a high end Sennheiser headphone for music.
I have 1000xm3, and everytime i use it with ANC on for like 2 hour or more, it made me feel headache. Is there anybody else have the same problem? Is it cause the radiation or something? It really bother me and im considering to sell it soon.
@@ShoAndTech I'm guessing it also because the fit from sony. Cause i think it went in deeper than other tws, maybe thats the cause, but whatever the reason is, i'll sell it soon and change it with soundcore liberty air 2. Have you ever try tws from soundpeats? It seems they have good line up too.
So I’m in total agreement! I could give a fuck about noise canceling!!!!!!!!! if you want noise canceling, why don’t you buy a pair of two dollar earplugs. What I want to hear is the way the artist wanted me to hear it. So that’s why I am disappointed that you didn’t recommend what you think would be the best earbuds that I could hear the music the way the musician wanted me to hear it!
anc is good but dangerous. u wont be able to grasp anything happening out side, there is an incident which a young women got robbed while she was lying on the bed watching yt videos at the same room where robber took the things that was kept inside the shelf luckily her father came back for something and the robber was caught. imagine if he wasn't came back and this happened in broad day light and the culprit was a man lived in the same Streat. so anc is good but careful while using it . i have an air pod pro which i use to hear songs with anc and the Logitech im using in my pc (earphones ) both have good sound but while using Logitech in my pc i could be able to hear things happening outside a little bit but with air pods many times my amazon guy had to call me in phone after ringing my door bells even without anc there way many times i become late open the door for my parent's. anc is good but not worth it unless u don't care what's gonna happen to u.
Honestly this is nonsense. You might not need ANC but it's an essential technology for many out there. Not everyone needs it but some can't live without it.
Not nonsense. The argument is geared towards those who feel obligated to upgrade and pay a premium for ANC when what they have works fine. I understand, obviously, that it is 100% necessary for many people. I was not referring to said people.
I recently got their airpods pro paired with my android ecosystem and I can barely hear without ANC or unless it's at the loudest which is above the recommended healthy level. Incredibly disappointed, and that is not even including the ridiculous price for it. AND IT HURTS MY EARS! Not worth it. I do the think the ability to control in ANC has great benefits: trying to read/study & annoying relatives or other unfavourable situations.
Just get good solid closed back headpones and you really don't need ANC. Audio quality is so bad in these overmarketed ANC headphones and earbuds that it starts to get a meme of its own.
noise cancelation is complete bs . we need noise isolating bleutooth earbuds for motorriding. its that simple. but cheapest are above 50 euro like wtf. thanks phone industrie to trow away the headphone jack :(
