@@jeunesseeternelle9803 i saw JCVD of course. He showed amazing dramatic performance there which was praised by public and critics - so I am not sure public did not want more of that.
@@alancharli3904 The correct term is a roundhouse kick. I know that because I took taekwondo and jiu jitsu growing up as a kid. My father taught me and my cousins it.

Why was Jason Statham trying to act cool and badass (both at the same time) in a helpless situation? JCVD, what an actor 👏👏👏👏. His acting skills are absolutely amazing 👍🏼
Before this scene billy the kid had a scene and Barney tells Christmas to challenge him to an uphill race where Christmas looks at him and says he’s on the phone
Steven Seagal should be in Expendables 4 as a villain. JCVD was awesome imagine other martial artists heroes as villains like JCVD, that would be flipin Epic💯.
@@ebg5062 Lol, I beg to differ. Even when Seagal is playing the hero (in all his movies), the dude has a villain aura about him, stoic face with little emotion, the black hair, the cloths, the martial arts. Imagine as a villain, believe you me, that's a hit👍. Never thought I'd see Van Damme as bad guy, we did and it was a hit.
@@AshColt_ Back in the day Seagal? Sure. 2021 Seagal? No. Look up a current picture, I was not talking about the past (although in fairness, I did not spell that out in my original post.)
I appreciate this movie for letting 10 year olds to write the script and the storyline with corny lines, short cheesy exchanges, Simple and basic angles. You’d think this was a high budget film with these all star cast.
imagine they make this movie circa mid 90's... with this exaclty actors.... and this exactly scene.. with adding Chuck Norris... Wesley Snipe... Steven Seagal... Keanu Reeves... Brad Pitt... Tom Cruise...

They really wasted Van Damme in this role. He was clearly in his element and did such a good job as the villain. I would have had him return rather than killing him off in a kind of lame way.
It was great seeing Van Damme in this movie. Glad they brought him into it. This guy’s era of movies happened to coincide perfectly with my childhood, and although I saw and appreciated Stallone’s movies, Van Damme was always “my” action hero. Kickboxer, Hard Target, LionHeart, Bloodsport - I knew those movies line by line.
the thing is that movie is kinda old now, and JCVD became a random dude who wastes his money and reputation, specially coming in my country romania doing that
It's a rough call. One seemed more like the "connected former soldier with lots of assets" and the other seemed like a mercenary who was doing someone else's bidding. Gibson's character felt like he had more assets and money and time laid into it, which made him a bit more threatening since he had such a ridiculous amount of stuff to work with.

He was also phenomenal in JCVD. You need to speak french to fully appreciate his performance though. Not an action role but very emotional and personal.
He has played villains before and even played a villain in one of the Universal Solider sequels Day of Reckoning with Van Damme playing his same character as did previous universal Soldier films but as the bad guy this time and Dolph Lundgren playing Andrew Scott the villain from the original with Scott Adkins playing the hero who goes against Van Damme and Lundgren. Van Damme was a bad guy in one of his earlier films No Retreat, No Surrender in 1985.
Van Damme & Scott Adkins were outstanding in this movie. Both play bad guys very well & convincingly. This might have been Van Damme's finest performance, while Scott Adkins depicts ruthless Slavic villains as superbly as any non Slavic. Legendary Badasses!
I like to imagine the dialogue that happened between Vad Damme's and Adkin's characters in the planning phase like, "Ok then when I give a signal you hold up the knife and I'll roundhouse it into the guy" "Oh nice! yeah that will be sick, Boss!" Still a badass way to deliver an execution!
JCVD : but what if i missed my kick? SA : that would be a shame boss.... :( JCVD: meh... dude will still get bruised on his chest... SA : LOL yeah... boss...
Eric Roberts, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Mel Gibson were brilliant villains. I wish they could get Gary Oldman to be the villain in one of these films. I think he is the best in the business playing the bad guy. IMHO.

@@edwardnygma5549 Have you ever been kicked like that? A roundhouse kick will knock the wind out of you. My father taught martial arts for many years and he taught me how to do it. He's gotten some injuries during training. I know that I wouldn't want to get hit like that!
@@StephALowry29 Firstly I don't know why you've made this about me? I stated a mere fact as an observation that Van damme responded and said he's exaggerating. He gave him a tap in HIS own words. I'm simply RELAYING. Secondly yes I have but not by JCVD ofc lol. Everyone does boxing and martial arts. I'm not going to qualify myself to you. It's a bit biased for you to only see Liams pov but not JCVDs pov. I would argue JCVD is more credible than Liam since he was a real fighter ie ex kickboxing champ. I understand it's all relative so that's how Liam might feel even though objectively speaking it shouldn't be AS BAD as he's saying. Liams got age and size on JCVD and taking a controlled kick, his pain tolerance would be expected to be more. I understand in the modern day Liams a popular pretty boy, but that doesn't make him correct. I actually like him but he is exaggerating. JCVD been doing movie fights for years c'mon. Third one was kinda weak at times tho. Could have done without Rousey and a couple of the other new characters. Hopefully the 4th movie, whenever it comes out, will set things right.
I mean regardless of opinions and stuff, the Reason I like the third one was because of the old school action hero cameo's specifically the last 40 mins of the movie :)
I always thought Van Damme's accent was a little funny especially when always playing the "good guy" but that accent sounds so perfect and fitting for him as a villain
