Something I wanted to make clear because I know people are still going to twist my words: You can still hate this development. Just because something was foreshadowed and made sense doesn't mean you must love it. By all means, hate it as much as you want. Also, you are not stupid if you thought this development made no sense. Power systems are complex. But this was foreshadowed and built up for hundreds of chapters to happen. Thanks for watching everyone. It will be interesting how Tabata develops this over the course of the rest of the series.
@@Br0kuwhen you do asta vs meliodos you should do two different fights one with verse equalization and one with out I personally don't have any idea if anti magic would have any effect on the power system from 7ds
@BrOku personally don’t dislike the development I think it’s cool. I saw your reaction to my comment on anti magic being overpowered. I didn’t fully agree, but I also didn’t want to write another long response since you might not have been willing to read it. So I wanted to know from you if you wanted to hear my response. If you do I’ll write it in the comments of the video, if you don’t I’ll just let it go.
Actually , for a long time i thought combo spells weren’t negating each other because their attributes aren’t opposites , but this explanation alongside the yami and fuogoloen nozel combo spell ( where fire didn’t melt mercury ) make it all make sense
Broku the GOAT for this, that leak night was one of the worst purely due to everyone ignoring everything we knew about Anti-Magic lol. Hopefully this video will help people out 🙏
Broku is really tired of arguing about this subject. I mean the series is almost over and now people come and complain. Do you know how pissed the German community is about Yuno being absurdly overpowered?
Everytime a "plothole" is brought up by haters it's almost always just them having 0 reading comprehension and bias to fit their agenda. Thanks as always Broku for keeping these haters in check
It's kinda sad sometimes, looking back on Tabata's work (espescially Hungry Joker), he truly pay attention to the concepts he made if it makes sense or not. But, the way manga, weekly manga works, he probably didn't have enough time and resources to explain it. Writers sometimes left things out to avoid plot holes or simply so the readers can fill the gap. But BC, for its complexity, have too many holes to fill (this includes the world building).
- Anti-magic is an energy to erase magic (mana) because it has anti-mana properties, but by controlling it well and using the 4 swords you can change its properties like Shukuma from eliminating to sharing. - Let's not forget that anti-magic also has weaknesses.
Realistically, antimagic is more of a magic of its own that is fueled by other magic itself. So it actually makes perfect sense that other people with magic can use it. But they should not be able to use both at once, as one would essentially become the gasoline that fuels the other.
its also funny how its shown as early as episode 6, when Asta is first shown to reflect a magical projectile, that anti magic is able to interact with magic without destroying it. Thats how i always thought the demon dweller sword worked, manipulating mana by just pushing it around and encasing it with anti magic.
We call it anti-magic because thats the name the characters gave it - they still don’t know what it is entirely, and it’s not like anyone but a devil could read the grimoire. Like grey, its transformation magic until it’s not. Asta and Leibe are the biggest unknowns there is in the series.
Broku I appreciate how in depth you go for this series. You actually use facts and statements from the source material to formulate well thought out arguments. But Naruto fans wouldn’t even listen if Kishimoto himself came to the defense of Black Clover
I really enjoy all 3 stories but I grew up with Naruto and Luffy's journey. Black Clover is in my top rankings of top new generation anime. Like how Naruto, One Piece and Bleach are the Big 3.
also, people REALLY believe that Asta without anti-magic is useless and weak. Even without a grimoere, the guy was able to avoid chains from the guy in episode one. Heck, Asta was able to beat people even without his anti magic, he only used his sword lol
When he got his grimoire stolen by the devil believers, he straight up headbutted a giant boulder to save them when the magic beast appeared near the border to the spade kingdom.
@@joeygula581 in a way, but not really. As he got used to use his sword regardless of his Anti-magic. His anti-magic are not his swords, but the way he uses his swords are his Anti-magic if that makes sense
I'm a huge Naruto fan and I always get annoyed then the Naruto community says black clover is a Naruto copy. Great video by the way it just confirmed what I was telling my friend about anti magic/anti energy since he was confused about Asta sharing his anti magic with the black bulls and I really didn't want to give him false info
anti-magic is negate/cancel the magic not erasing or removing the magic from the user. So I thank you for explaining in the video WHY it is NOT a copy from Naruto
I think the attribute used to shape the swords using anti-energy that you mentioned is probably Sword magic this is why he can reshape the swords. This also makes sense when you remember that Lich grimoire was a sword magic grimoire. Like you said fire + anti magic = anti magi fire you could have Sword magic(Asta) + Anti magic (Liebe) = Anti magic swords
I do love show don't Tell as it helps with the audience interpret the characters and setting. There is a flaw with it due to how if something is too subtle then readers could make up something away from the author's intentions. I do love this video for showing perspective on Asta's Anti-Magic and helping me broaden my understanding of it.
Great video. I was definitely on the side of "this doesn't make any sense" when I first read the chapter, but now that I sat down and digested all the info you presented, it makes perfect sense. I was never thinking about it from the lens of it being an ability of the sword itself.
@@Br0ku While I am not a fan of everyone just being able to have anti-magic now, like you said, we don't have to like it. But it does make sense at least.
Bruh, Anti magic is just literally electrons and magic are protons. If both gets in contact, the energy is negated. It can also be interpretated as 1 - 1 = 0 and of course if there's more negative than positive elements, well the negative energy wins.
"It's overpowered bs" People thinking this are forgetting that literally every single ark in this series ends with Black Bulls figuring out a power or combination that the enemy has no response to (for example fate magic of Vanessa + food magic, or portal/string/asta combo).
Great video! Also, about the attributes thing, I feel like that was also portrayed well. Remember when asta stuck dweller in vados and Lucius tried to pick it up? Remember it was draining there magic. And what magic dose astas mom have? Magic that drains mana. Nothing that’s the case but just a thought
I guess you could say asta circulates his anti magic like a centrifuge when drawing mana alongside it. Still i wish asta started picking up new weapons of different types, like anti magic throwing knives that track targets based on mana or something
i find it weird that people don't understand this considering that Astas Grimoire is the Sword Magic Grimoire Previously held by Licht and he has just turned swords into Anti-Magic Swords when he touches them imbuing it which we later see in regards to Yami's Katana
The grimoir with the swords chose Asta. Just like Licht he's been using them in his very own manner. Just like Noelle, Asta needed to go out into the world to get a proper hang of his grimoir's power. After the witch queen healed Asta he started to feel the energy that was within the swords and lightly came in contact with the devil power inside his grimoir. Asta has refined Anti-Magic to a point where he decides who's magic is cancelled out and who's not. The way Licht way using the demon-dweller always implied a greater usage of it. Liebes Anti-Magic is Asta's very own usage.
I understand that he can control his Anti-magic and choose which magic can or cannot be cancelled, but how are the black bull members able to use and control it. It would make more sense if the Anti-magic just covered the other black bulls members like a cloak but instead it is combing with their own magic.
@@enshroud_mask it's like you said it is more of a cloak that protects them from harming influences. Like if they charge at a enemy their mere touch cancels out their magic. Asta is better off concentrating his Anti-Magic in a small number of people
I can already see this sparking debate in the anime and manga community. No offense but I feel like that Naruto fans think that any new gen battle shounen anime is a copy of Naruto. Also I respect you Broku for doing research tackling subjects like this.
People hate on Black Clover WAAAAAY too much. I'm glad this channel exists so I can properly lay out my explanations. Big hat tip to you Broku. As far as Gauche's death flags go, I think Tabata doesn't want us to be able to preict the death. Personally I don't like death flags as it makes the deaths way too obvious. So he might kill either Gauche or someone else off without one
So essentially, just the way Asta was able to imbue Destroyer and Slasher with anti magic and it kept their base abilities, Asta does the same with people. It just gives the characters, and objects, anti energy properties and boosts the power of the sword or person?
@Br0ku That was my main question. I never really gave it much thought that it worked the same way with how he gave the other swords anti energy properties.
How I thought about when I first read the chapter was: What if mana was like a number and using magic depletes that number. Those with mana are unable to go below 0, because they are simply unable to use any more magic. Asta is on 0 constantly, being unable to wield any mana and therefore no magic either. What if, after someone's mana is depleted to 0, their bodies become vessels for anti-magic just like asta. Their mana counter would go in the negatives and they would in turn get anti-mana. Because anti-mana is an energy just like mana, and they are the same yet opposites. The anti-mana would take the shape of their attributes. Magna would get black fire, which is how his attribute behaves when using anti-mana. However, because mana is trying to replenish, they are on a time limit and their anti-mana counter is slowing turning back to 0. This would mean that Asta has a attribute too which he never unlocked because he had no mana and no grimoire to make him realize his attribute. With anti-magic, asta would be able to use his attribute like how those with mana use it to create magic. Edit: Just watched the video and it seems we had the same idea! I'm glad I got something right for once. I am only unsure about if anti-magic stays until it is used up and until that point mana wont go in the "cup", if they lay ontop of eachother like water and oil or if anti-magic cancels the mana and slowly runs out, to which the mana needs to replenish naturally again. If it's the latter, it would mean that it is a double edged sword, since Asta has to share his anti-magic and once that runs out, they wont be able to use magic again. So it could be that there's a strict time limit.
All I know is that the anti-magic-amped Black Bulls are just the definition of drip and I want more anti-magic amp designs to come out Hell, some crossover things could allow all sorts of characters to get dripped out by means of anti-magic and anti-energy.
hey bro broku i understood how the black clover power system works now thanks to you i also was one of those people who thought if mp runs out you die but after watching your video i completley understood it thanks
Yoooo, you doin excellent job of covering the series. Its great how you make each video so understandable and fun. The real question is could you make a video about who is Asta's Father because that is the current biggest mystery in the series.
I knew a decent bit of this but I honestly didn't know Asta subconsciously avoided erasing the magic of his allies. It makes me wonder if he'll be able to use his own version of Yuno's Never-Ever Land, except it'll just completely render enemies unable to use magic or only able to use severely weakened magic while not affecting his allies in the slightest. At the very least, I think it would be a cool ability for Wizard King Asta.
Thank The Manga God's someone actually Read the same Manga I did at this point I think people just wanna bitch an tear someone's work apart it's easy to call someone's work trash call them a bad writer especially when 98% of them couldn't nor wouldn't put there own health at risk spending 20 plus hours a day writing a story for people to enjoy
1:05 LMAO!!!!!!!! But yeah. I've done my fair share of correcting people on RU-vid, Instagram, and even on the BC subreddit. Obviously people are allow to not like the the development and the way it happened, but i feel like there is a clear difference with not liking the way it was portrayed vs just blatantly saying it's a "retcon", "not making any sense", or "it defeats the purpose of Asta and Anti Magic". I mean, now that I do think about it: the Vetto fight was THE part that showed how Anti-Magic worked. Aata literally goes through Finral's portals, even having his swords POINTING at them whenever he gets a chance to slash at Vetto. In any normal case, Finral's portals would not work AT ALL. The would be automatically destroyed. Like Vanessa could still help Asta, and Finral could use his portals to redirect Vetto's punches, but it wouldn't have worked as much and not for long. So it's a clear indication that, the demon (Liebe) who was inside Asta's grimoire, could control and manipulate Anti-Magic for different purposes. It just wasn't explicitly shown. And we even had the delay of the movie. BC literally ended last year, and the movie that was supposed to come out in March, came out in the summer. So I feel as though people should've rewatched the series to see how the movie would fit and work. This chapter is basically just like the moment in Spade when Mimosa healed Gaja. It made fucking sense people. The only issue was that people didn't apply any common sense and didn't pay any good attention to the filler and details that the show gave us. THAT'S WHY BROKU IS THE GOAT!!!! THE GOAT!!!
i think of it like our power grid we have multiple power sources like nuclear or hydroelectric or coal or in bc life energy negative energy, and mana is like electricity were no matter were the power came from is can be used in several ways
Remember not only Anti-magic imbues just works with those who have strong bonds with Asta but the Black Bulls also strengthened by the Witch Queen's blood magic so Anti-magic is more compatible with them. The Anti-magic imbues may or may not work with those who aren't buffed by The Witch Queen, but Yuno arguably have stronger bonds with Asta than anyone as his childhood friend, brother, and rival also Yami with devil heart may come to play on it. Thx for the insightful video!
Honestly, I always enjoy coming over to this channel for BC videos, you make me appreciate this series way more. Thanks for the Video. Also Do you think that the Black Bulls will be unable to move for 30 mins or more since their bodies aren't used to it yet? I would think that it would probably be an hour possibly more since they haven't had that source in their in their bodies.
Thanks for always having smart and well thought out takes on black clover. I'm tired of seeing so many braindead takes on this stuff when it's all so easily explained.
I view it more like Asta coating their magic with anti magic like how some chocolate and vanilla ice cream have pure chocolate coating on the outside and pure vanilla on the inside And when they attack both attributes affect the enemy like how you would experience the taste of said ice cream Silly example but works for me that way
anime fans when zorro chooses what to cut: Makes sense, anime fans when rin's blue flames dont burn his friends: makes sense, anime fans when asta does the same thing: this goes against everything, he literally can control his energy, calm down
Personally, The main problem is not weather this makes sense or not. My main issue is that simply there are no stakes anymore. And is a shame cause I’ve been following black clover for years now. There is no emotional investment. No stakes. No risks and ultimately no tension we all know every fight is going to be as smooth as butter in the end. And yes the only thing to look forward to is the cool power ups and fights. But ultimately no consequences.
Everything starts to make sense when you realize Asta's Anti-Magic isn't actually magic nulling/cancelling but similar to Anti-Matter, but with magic instead.
if you lose all your magic you DO NOT DIE, literally the spade saga showed us that peasents were having their magic drained in the moving towers asta saved them from and that they will never regain the mana thus having 0 mana and still alive
11:43 holy shit ! I didn't realise it, so the truth is that the anti-energy only comes from liebe, that's why Licht light magic could channel into the sword, because he imbued them with mana instead of anti energy 12:40 Now I'm curious to see what abilities could have other type of weapons if imbued with anti-energy
Not inconsistent Literally all you need to hear was that he subconsciously makes it so his antimagic doesn't destroy his friends magic that's all you really need to hear
Very good explaination, just got suggestested to your channel today but after watching the video I just had to subcribe. I like your attention to details
Yo Broku How Powerful Would Guts Be From Berserk if He was Born into the Black Clover Universe with the Same Childhood and Same Birth and Same Personality and Training and Same WillPower and Determination?
@@Grayson-Winchester Sure but he said same birth and childhood, Asta was never r*p*d as a kid nor was he born on a battlefield and lived as a mercenary so he's not a perfect Guts representation.
oh it's what magna used in the second arc with the ice guy enemy. he was out of mana and used his life energy to produce magic, im talking about the arc in his hometown
Thank you for explaining it finally I hope the fandom Community can settle down to this complaint I to was confuse but thankfully with the correct explaination and proper evidences I was shocked of how the eefects happened in the story and it all made sense.
Thank You!🥺 For a long time I’ve always known that anti magic wasn’t just a concept that negates magic no matter what but an element no different from magic or negative magic in the first place! Whenever you try to explain it to retards they will just insult you without providing adequate proofs which is really annoying. You’ve just got yourself a new subscriber man. Keep up the good work 🔥 Edit: please do Mash (Mashle) vs Asta (Black Clover)
Me personally I never hate what Asta does with his powers, be it a copy from anything or not, I'm still loving the series. Sure, I'm not an analyst but I do got low base expectation on manga so if a chapter is a 5-6 then I will still continue reading it, unless if it's below 5 AND makes me feel like "Yeah this one's bad", then I'm not gonna like it. But regarding the power systems here, even though it is complex, I again really have no problem with it, which is why I really love your videos, man. And when Asta imbued the BB with his anti-magic, I still have no problem with it since this arc is part of the final saga, Tabata needs both sides of high powers (BB vs Lucius/Paladins) so that the battle will be good if not great, I can't imagine a final battle with weak powers from start of battle to finish will be fun. So thank you for defending BC on this one, Broku. 😁
I think magic should interact with anti magic the same way anti magic interacts with magic. The reasoning behind anti magic negating magic is because anti magic is the opposite of magic. But magic is also the opposite of anti magic.
The main thing is it has to have a limit to how long they can use it and what it can do because if not he has to make Lucius even more broken to deal with that and we still got yuno to and him and asta have a bond like no other jus imagine he gives some anti magic to him as well Lucius has to have some hidden type of magic up his sleeve because gravity soul he’ll even time magic won’t be enough for this shit in all honesty
I don’t think it’s unreasonable for people to have thought that it magic was like matter, and anti-magic was like anti-matter, where they destroy each other when they interact. We’ll see if Tabata expands on it later on.
Also a bit random thought when you mentioned the Protecting Light combo spell....when characters use or create Union/Compound Spells with each other Do you think those spells get written in their grimoires just like any other new spell?
I just realized somebody said why can't Lucifeor Couldn't use gravity singularity or Evil gods Pressure is because he didn't have a grimoire The dark Triad We're given Devil power and the attribute Of the devil Would it be safe to assume that they didn't have the Actual Attribute itself instead or They had all the spells that they could have if they had 1If they had Grimoire
Would asta get his own form of anti ethernano if he was thrown into the fairy tail world? Actually how would he do if he fought a fairy tail character? 19:26 It’s interesting how similar the demon dweller sword and imperial sword are. I guess we now know were lumiere got his inspiration from. It’s gonna be interesting to see how the anti magic black bulls in action minus Noelle and yami since they don’t have it. Yet.
Chapter was lit. Witch queen hasn’t been around in a hot min. So ehh she won’t be missed. Everyone’s character design looks hella dope with anti magic! We all know no one dies so why are people complaining still?
I still believed in your explaination of Anti magic video before that is Anti magic is Forrbiden Magic. And it makes sense. I loved it and still stand true to your explaination.
Iunno. The idea of Asta just slapping his crew with Anti-Magic like energy to help for the final arc seems like a really cool and in character theme. And you KNOW shits gonna rock when Yami gets that Anti-Magic drip.
I remember reading FT expecting the power of friendship bullshit but that is so overrated by haters. Most shit Is actually foreshadowed not just “Nakama” BS. Even the power of friendship moments were actually written real well in FT. The guild is a family.
Another way to put it is, is comparing it to a car. Mana is regular gas and anti magic can be seen as E85, both can run a car like both can fuel a mages magic power
Nice one BROKU People still attack me telling me that I'm just being a fan boy that doesn't want to admit that TABATA is copying kishimoto and I explained my lungs out But the out come doesn't change Pls can i get a link to where I can download the Black clover databook
5:05 - False! Yami explicitly stated that both Ki and Mana are *types* of life energy. That means that there’s more than 1 & life energy is more than just Ki.
Never mind that, even things like youtube content, tik tok content, and so on people still copy each other, and they got people liking the copies as well.
I hope this is a devil Amp like the Dark Triads minions who couldn't use Space, Curse, and Gravity magic but had their abilities amped from the Dark Triad. It would suck for the Black Bulls to have Anti-Magic after we saw how far Asta had to go to up his durability since using just a little Anti-Magic basically shut down his body. No other Black Bulls should withstand that except maybe Yami.
18:06 A another example would be to the battle with Zagred. Asta and Yuno are pumping are channeling more magic and anti-magic. Almost every combine attack would have Asta just “negating the mana/magic” surrounding them. But it wasn’t. The key difference is that Liebe is no longer hold back the amount of Anti-magic Asta is using. Remember during the fight with Dante, Liebe says unlike before where he was “dribbling power” into him … that his arm is pure power now. So imo, Liebe was stop-gapping power earlier in the series so Asta more control over it even unconsciously. Now with equal contract, Asta has far more access to anti-magic which made it harder to control when combine with others when fighting Lucifero. After training Zetten, Asta has some much more control that his now utilize the Demon Dweller to it fullest.
