The recap is great but doesn't talk about the clock. Hikaru played the whole endgame with 20-40 seconds on his clock. They only got a 10s increment per move. At several points I thought he wouldn't break through despite always retaining a winning advantage.
@NYCFenrir

Hikaru said that he thought he got 15 more minutes at move 40, but went to double check and found out he was wrong.

@bgrig574 23 дня назад
What are you talking about mate? He literally said that Hikaru was playing with something like 20" on the clock while prag had 4'. It's implied that he would go on like this, you can even see repeat of moves in order to win some time. I haven't watched the game live, but it's like self-explanatory. I get your point but give him some slack, he's like the only guy that keeps chess commentary where it deserves to be, not shouting, yelling doing weird stuff. Not trying to pick up a fight here, just wanted to point that out. Best of luck.

i’ve just discovered your channel. and at well over twice your age i’ve only started picking up chess a couple months ago. i enjoy your content. i find it a nice balance of being informative, instrumental & entertaining. however, as a lifelong instructor in video production, design, digital graphics etc i am on a tirade against anyone who relies the horrendous, exaggerated & embarrassing thumbnails content creators often resort to in an effort to boost viewership. i no longer watch hikaru or gothamchess’s videos for this reason. i hope you feel a reluctance to implement these desperate start chasing the algorithms. i suggest you will grow a more resilient, loyal & regular viewership base by respecting their maturity through the utilization of graphic thumbnails that will be a major embarrassment and threat to your monetization as tastes change more rapidly in thumbnails than in contents. i for one, just pass up stupid thumbnails. there are literally many millions of other videos to choose from. thank you for considering my suggestion. i have really enjoyed your game recaps: the pacing, the options, a few historic references etc are all perfect for my level of development.

He had seen that Rf1 move several moves before that, certainly by the time he took the pawn with the knight but probably before that I reckon. After that it was good technique and no mistakes, even though Pragg did defend incredibly well. I kindof feel like Gukesh would have just defended solidly instead of trying the piece sacrifice and eked out a draw. He is such a well balanced player and defends as well as anyone.

No way reading Dings expressions he is trying to win
@dw96969
@dw96969 23 дня назад
@@michaelmassaro4375 one possibility is that he is trying to win but without using any new opening prep (saving that for championship) and maybe previously when he used to win it used to have opening prep as an important part of the win. I'm not sure about it though, that will require going through his past wins and see how many of them gave him an opening advantage

In the pause the video moment, I think a superior move would have been to just take the rook with the queen on E2. Opponent recaptures my rook on A1, then you defend with Queen to F1 offering a queen trade, but still up a piece.

How are you up a piece when it’s a trade of Rooks you mean the knight ?

In the position you’re saying, Black has a perpetual check on the dark squares with his queen. a1 and d4

Good defence from pragg but Nordirbek would have won in such situations that's why he is better than pragg and all the young players.

Praggnanandhaa won over Magnus because Magnus decided to play without a rook and he lost to Hikaru because he decides to play without a knight.

To be weird about it. It's like you don't play bullet, people will play ANY legal move to just prolong the game

U are kinda picking on Ding I would say but not without reason. But its not his fault he is world champion. Magnus gave up and Ian grotesquely messed up the world championship
