I got dumped by text after 4 years in a relationship. Probably the hardest thing in my life knowing I would never see him again and never had the chance to say goodbye. If I would’ve known it was going to be the last time I would see him I would’ve hugged him harder and longer.

I was newly out and was texting a guy 5 years older , we met at a party and he asked me on a date. We basically texted each other every day for 3 months , he assured me he was over his ex. However he never opened up about anything with me. We had a date and then we were both together at another party where he was sitting beside me the whole time and we had a moment at the end of the night. We went on another date that was super bad but he reassured me he had fun. I asked him what we were going towards and me questioning him made him break off with me. I was pretty beat up but I just stopped texting him. I ended up texting him drunk around Christmas. He responded and we began texting each other again. He told me that he’d like to meet up again and I took this as him wanting another date with me. We waddled along for I’d say 3 months Not texting each other as often. And one night I felt alone and drunkenly told him that I really liked him and I would want to see him again. He told me that this was a shock, that he didn’t know what to say. But he wouldn’t answer me, so I had to keep asking him how he felt. He told me that he never liked me that way... that hurt. That was painful, he had been a significant person that I’d held so highly for a large period of time and it was all a lie. A fantasy. In an act of rage I exposed him, he was always talking about his ex that he’d recently been dumped by before meeting me. I saw his profile on a dating app and just told him what his ex had just done to me. I exposed him and it got back to him. I felt scared but also equal, because this had hurt him and he finally felt the heartbreak I had. His ex told me that he admitted to leading me on, I guess I was just an ego booster for him , but my “revenge “ was something that I knew upset him just as much as me and finally he could face up to the fact that he had mistreated me and that his ex was not getting back with him.

I think the blonde guy just needed to say "dude, you're not my type. We were young and trying stuff out." Think of who you were looking at 5 years ago, and how your taste has become more specific. I could never see myself with who I was with from 5 years ago, relative to their ages. Sometimes you're limited by your area code so you take the best of what you can get, and then you move and a WHOLE NEW WOLRD of sexiness and love is revealed to you, its natural to want more.

Sam is a coward (but brave for publicly admitting he didn’t write the breakup text) but whatever they were kids. It’s in the past. They can both be better this time.

If someone is dumping you via text then don't be a mug, that's just their way of showing you that they have zero respect for you and that they will always push everything aside to make sure that they're ok. Never mind anyone else. Don't give people like that your time, they're not worth the effort and had they not shown you who they really are by sending that text message to you then you would have only found it out later.
