I'm getting this as online homework, the problem is that I was already capable and doing what I wanted to be doing at home, privately. (Studying a language) so now its just taking away my free time.

Yeah I am getting this for school and I don't like it too much it is not the best way to let kids do this independently because students arent doing and they will pick the weirdest things like I want to build something in a game where is the education in that altho it is a good thing for school there has to be an improvement

John! This is the best video I have seen that is aimed at the students to explain to them what Genius Hour is about, thank you! Have you ever considered calling it something else? Our 8th grade team wanted to avoid the implications with the word "Genius" and put more emphasis on the "share with the world" so we're calling it IMPACT Hour. I would pay you money if you would edit your video for us and use the term IMPACT Hour instead of Genius Hour! What do you say?
