Well said mate! The truth is world is full of lipstick people and YT is no different. I think, I am lucky I´ve found you here. Kudos to you! I am a very big fan of Nathan as well, he´s genuine and he speaks from his heart and soul. Love him! We need more people like you and Nathan. I couldn't agree more with your last video, spot on. People have asked me to do Bullet 500 reviews on my channel but I honestly couldn't say anything new or useful. A legend speaks for itself. I don't have any good banter or special knowledge, so I stay silent. My intention was to archive rides I like and trips overseas on my channel. Some fellows don't seem to go on rides at all, all talk and fancy kit. Bit of spannering I can respect, but I leave it to professionals. I was getting ok impressions and a few views, but RU-vid just throttled me down from 10k impressions to 100 for no reason. It's a fickle thing.😂 I'll press on irrespective.

Hi Ian just watched your "You get what you see". I like your honesty and all your tips. There is too many wanna be's look at me, look at me. The one for me was the ticking from the engine, I couldn't figure where it came from on my bike, now my bike runs a lot quieter. I'm 70 now and always do my own work on my bikes and car, your never to old to learn from someone. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T CHANGE. Great Vlog and appreciate the truth being put out there I have in my most recent search at 75 years of age for a bike to downsize to come across a person that has massive amounts of subscribers and he is giving advice on motorcycles that don’t seem to ring true The first time a saw him ride he was flapping his legs around when taking off and seemed to be off balance and I have to admit I thought he was good for a laugh but had no idea what he was talking about- I much prefer real channels and found yours through a Mutter Will be subscribing Regards from Florida

Yep. I hear ya. It's impossible to lift the battery box / airbox assy because the airbox is connected solidly to the butterfly body assy. I too loosened a couple of bolts and had zero movement and surmised that the connection between the airbox and the....intake venturi?? I guess you could loosely refer to it as, is a solid connection. I'm in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. I'm planning a ride tomorrow but I'm planning to have a crack at my YSS tomorrow afternoon. Yes, setting sag. I thought the same. I'll throw some weight on the back to simulate my riding gear and get the 30% sag set close enough.. Close enough for me anyway. If i have an epiphany during my toils I'll share it. 😁

I take very little notice of bike reviews , other than to take note of what they DO NOT SAY . Problems with bikes are usually brought up as time goes by . By other testers lower down the food chain . The coffee drinker , I regard as a modern version of "Some Mothers Do Have 'Em " ( comedy show from the 70's ) . For young people though , brought up in the " tv consumer/ fashion led" era he is a star to emulate and imitate . A messiah for the weak minded . Yuck . Anyways for myself , who used to buy Motorcycle Mechanics in the 70s every month and read and reread every bike test , modern bike " tests " are a bit of a joke . They don't really say anything of value . I much prefer the original classics , which I like to rebuild , so that they are reliable . I have a couple of new bikes , but much like your NC750 , they fail to interest me , too characterless , too efficient , too many complicated electronics . I like your videos for the objectivity and honesty ( and also the glimpses of Bulgaria , which I find fascinating ). So Carry On Spannering in Bulgaria . ( you could make a film about that ) .
@richardyardley5127
@richardyardley5127 25 дней назад
I totally agree with you regarding many bike reviews. Some of the one's for the all new RE Classic 350 are just homage reviews. I get it that they are great bikes but they are just a generic modern bike, dressed up to look like an original Classic/Bullet. One reviewer actually deleted my comments when I compared all the plastic bits on the new bike to all the metal parts of the original 500. Mentioning plastic glass and chrome on the new bike is also a sin and you risk being sent to hell if you mention the self adjusting Hydraulic tappets on the 500! At least no one seems to be promoting electric bikes yet. Those things will be silent killers/suicide machines and I will unsubscribe from anyone who promotes those death machines....

Hi RE Himalayan BS4 2020 model. 40'000km on it, 20k of those done in the last 6 months. Only had 1 issue, missed my rear caliper replacement recall and hence had to buy one, despite the old one running pretty well, you could see the corrosion they feared and which lead to the recall, happening. I ride all year, all of Europe. No issues, oil change every 5000km, oil and filter change every 10'000, tappets, check stuff, replace wear parts such tyres and brake pads, do brake fluids once a year, fork oil every 1-2years. Every part is cheap, only had to replace a single lightbulb on the headlight once, rest just keeps working. Dropped the bike over 50 times in mud and rocks, all good, some scratches. I dont know what s wrong with yours, mine just keeps going, no power loss, barely any oil burnt after 13h of saddle time at 5000rpm/100kmph with a total of 60min break split up into 4 refuels and a cigarette. I m beating the living jesus out of my motorcycle solo, with luggage, with the missus on the rear, hoping it will break so i get an excuse to buy another motorcycle. it does not break

LOL, Ian! Why not yellow trousers...get the neighbors talking. I myself greatly appreciate your content. Much like Nathan, no sugar coating. All meat and potatoes. I think some tubers get cash for each video produced, hence the videos from great dressers and communicators. I would think about a hi- viz top during hunting season so you don't get shot. ( seeing your camouflage trousers blend in with that pine green color scheme) I myself am pretty much done riding until it cools down. Yesterday my Himalayan temperature readout was 112°. It was actually around 107°. ( I see knit wits riding with shorts). Keep the videos rolling, and I always appreciate Sue's input. I always listen to the wife. My wife chose the Scram. I liked the Himalayan after watching at least 1000 RE videos. For the money, it suits many a riders' needs!

I'm laughing to myself listening to you because I experience a similar level of pain everytime I have to re engineer something. I own a 2021 Himmy and have only done a few short trips because I haven't had it for long but I have spent more hours in total, working on it than I have riding it. Fixing things that annoy me. Haha. I have just received my YSS shock. Haven't fitted it yet. I had the rear wheel off to machine out the rear Axle slots to make them 5mm longer so I could fit the new 16T front sprocket. If I added a link, I'd be close the the maximum travel leaving little room for adjusting my chain down the track, so I decided to lengthen the slot towards the front. 4mm was adequate but I went 5mm. The Top shock mount. Bloody hell..... A 10min job will take 3hrs. I if the top mount was about 6mm lower, I reckon that I could undo and extract the bolt from the RHS of the bike just under the battery box. As it is, it will be impossible. I get so frustrated with engineering design that doesn't take into consideration Servicing. I replaced the shock on my 1200cc Triumph bobber black with a new KYB in less than 10min. This Himmy design is horrible. I was going to fit the shock whilst doing the front sprocket, but gave up in disgust. On a positive note, the 16T front sprocket is awesome. It only provides a 200rpm drop but it feels so much more civilised at 10okph and any reduction in acceleration is barely noticeable. I am only 75kg which helps but as you said yourself, once you've adjusted your expectations and jump on the Himmy, for what it is it's an absolute joy to ride. 😁 Cheers. Darcy
@iantoy7778
@iantoy7778 23 дня назад
Yeah that shock mount,I know what you mean. I will video me changing mine but the problem in doing a video is you need to run through everything you do before you try to video it or you can soon look a right knob if you don't know what you are doing lol. I had a look at it and had seen some one changing there's with the air box out. I thought there has got to be an easier way . I tried every way possible to move the battery box /airbox up 5 mm so I could get the top bolt out and even got a sockets on it but the bolt has a shoulder/washer machined on it making the bolt head even bigger and there is no way to get it out. I fitted ohlins to my honda NC750x about 15 min Todo . If they had just designed the air box with a bit of thought,but no. Might have to set the sag with the airbox out as IAM not sure you will be able to get in to adjust the thread on the shock

I agree with you and I would rather have someone tell me the truth... I have a love/hate relationship with my 22 Himalayan and could go on and on about the negatives , but I also enjoy the bike. I never listen to most reviews as there is always something new coming out and next year when reviewing the " new " model they will often bash the previous model that they raved about...

It usually goes like this:- the magazine will review a new model. They rave about it and award it five stars. Nine months later, they run another test and award the same bike three stars! They justify this by stating that "things have moved on, so it no longer gets five stars". In just nine months? I don't think so. If you want the honest truth from a rider who knows his stuff, then watch Nathan the postman. And definitely don't watch Mark Pulling, because according to him, everything is brilliant.... Every aspect of every bike he tests. And that simply cannot be.

I guess doing reviews is political correctness, it’s telling the story as truthful without highlighting the flaws too much. Uncle Stew as good at this but he gets away with it cause he uses a 1000 words in a 30 word sentence. The issue is that people quote factory data that doesn’t tell the story, eg for example who would ever buy a 350 producing only 21 ish hp, yet the J platform is selling faster than water in the desert. It’s only once you ride it that you discover how good RE actually is in building proper bikes ( FYI I went from a 5 bike 5 marque garage to 2 RE’s in different countries, so yes I’m a fan! ) The Classic doesn’t need scantily clothed girls to sell it, I just need to see it riding and I hand over my money!

Hello again Ian. I believe I am a subscriber of the video blogger you mention, he used to live across town from me. I am with you and also other reviewers of bikes in the fact that piss off a manufacturer, you aint gonna get another bike in a hurry. Personally I see that the other chap is trying to add some style to biking, but like you I realise he probably has not had a spill yet given the gloves worn and some of the gear which I would suggest is more for style than content. I see American video people riding bikes without loves and a tee-shirt! I have recently subscribed to a chap called Volcanic Brown. He lives near me and possibly the guy who bought my Electra- X. He has a barn full of Enfields, some of them original Interceptors and also puts out good honest content. Like cars, the world of motorcycles is full of bollocks, prejudice and badge snobbery. I have just seen a video of a guy riding a new JAWA 350 2 stroke from an Oxfordshire dealer. The price is a bit rich for me but an ordinary bike being reviewed by fellers who probably cannot remember when you could get them cheaply. I like brutal honesty and enjoy your content. Cheers Paul

A guy in the street told him they were made to measure and would only cost £8.50. when he went to collect them they demanded 90 quid! Then he got back to his hotel and tried them on. They were about 3" too short in the leg and looked like badly fitting pyjamas. I nearly choked laughing. As for taking his advice about anything....i wouldnt trust him to wrap me a bag of chips!😂. And the missenden flyer, ....not for me. Although he did go up a notch last week when he slagged off the new GS. Nathan the postman nails it every time. Top bloke! I rather like Volcanic Brown. I enjoy your videos Ian because you tell it how you find it. I don't put any trust in reviews where people have clearly had the bike loaned to them. With the Himalayan your experience does seem to be worse than most. I am not sure whether that is just because you were unlucky in getting a rough one or maybe you are just a lot pickier than I am. I have had two 411s and they have been reliable. I did about 7k miles on the first one and the second I bought second hand and it has done about 8k miles. These are not big mileages so I guess the jury has to be out on long term reliability. At the end of the day they are cheap bikes so being realistic I would not expect huge mileages before trouble strikes. One would hope for at least 40k miles though without any major work. I am an average home mechanic and a big factor for me is that the Himalayan is much like my ancient Brit nails and easy to work on. I hate having to take anything into a garage.

People should make their own minds up by watching other videos there’s lots out there, like people that have done 20+k miles on Himalayans and not all smooth going and never had a problem at all and love them. Give 80v duel sport a watch You can buy 7 Himalayans for price of a GS and no way are they that much better. I think there’s more Himalayans been up the Himalayas than any other bike.

Ok my thoughts. I like your uploads. But let's. Be honest what we all enjoy is subjective. Freddie does a great job of entertaining. It's biker oriented with a little traveling and personal imput. No disrespect, but I look forward to his uploads more than yours. As for TMF. I unsuscribed

I was going to mention Nathan the Postman because he buys the bixe and then he and his customers ride them. Then he gives an opinion of them. One of the female YTers you mention I've watched. All blond hair and loosely buttoned jackets. All very nice. However normally once the video gets going there's hysterical giggling at something or other. She has a go at fixing stuff tho. It's your bike to criticise that is the main point to bear in mind. As you point out.

I've noticed many youtubers garner comments by fans only, which I believe must be a sign of censorship. For example, I left a less than flattering comment to a video by the so-called "Uncle Stu". He swiftly deleted it. My next, to another video of his, did not even appear, which probably means that he's blocked me altogether. Fair enough, after all, he wants youtube to pay him for his videos... Question: I wonder if and what is your criteria for removing comments and blocking commenters please?
@iantoy7778
@iantoy7778 21 день назад
Think I have only blocked two people. There is nothing wrong if you don't agree with anything I have said ,that would be your point of view which is always welcome. But if I thought it was personal about me or my family and not relevant to the video I consider blocking someone. Everyone is entitled to there opinion as long as it is relevant.

I'd say stick with what you're doing. Impossible to go through life without offending someone. Most of the RU-vidrs are out and out narcissists,I don't include you amongst those,I'll watch a couple of their videos,make my mind up,either subscribe or never watch them again. The Himalayan 450?. I'm not interested,I traded in a 60 odd bhp Bonneville for my Himalayan,so not interested in extra power. The wide screen telly they fitted to the handlebars,wtf,a speedo does me. Tubeless tyres,can of Tyreweld will fix a puncture quicker tyan it can be plugged. Riding modes?,open the bloody throttle to suit the road conditions,you fall off,your fault. Water cooling,no thanks just something more to worry about. If I've offended someone,tough. I'm 65,Scottish and it's been pishing rain all day.
