Am I getting ready for Saturday's final by watching match highlights or reading commentary about the build up? No, I'm watching quotes from Nigel Owens. That's the real show!
This is a rugby video so why bring up football? Would love to know why rugby fans can't just enjoy their own sport without comparing it with football. Insecurity maybe?
@@Leifr952 No, it's not insecurity, it's rightful bragging. As someone who's watched footbal my whole life, I wish the referees in football commanded respect the same way rugby referees do, it could potentially rid the game of diving and Pepe, would be a great win for the sport.
@@freethis222 I agree that football could improve in the aspects you mention, but my point is why does it matter so much to rugby fans? They are utterly obsessed with the foibles of football, often at the expense of simply enjoying their own sport. Why do they care so much? Football fans (as well as the vast majority of other sports) don't complain about rugby's faults, so what is the reason for the needless comparisons and dick-measuring?
@@katie8325 Agreed. It seems like antipathy towards football is built into the rugby psyche these days, and no positive words can be expressed about it without taking a swipe at football too. It's pathetic.
Fantastic ref.. more importantly sensible and never swayed by the pressure of home advantage by supporters .. tackle wasn't late .. Owens got it spot on
French players were probably not understanding what Nigel Owens was saying but they went along like good lads. Thanks to our school system and the respect of the ref in rugby... still we should improve our english level 😂.
He’s the balls. Seriously. I really hate watching so many NFL games get so badly out of control with fights and bickering. Nigel just fucking mans up and takes control.
Many referees would have bottled this and quickly brought our a yellow card. Nigel is calm and collected and doesn't allow the brawl or the crowd to get to his head. It's the right call, a late tackle yes, but not dangerous and likely unavoidable. It would have been a soft yellow at best. We need more referees like Nigel. People complain about him when it doesn't go there teams way, but to my mind he is incredibly fair
@@simonvocisano3 Picamoles definitely understands.. He's Fluent in English.. I'm not sure Plisson did, but he will have understood as English speaking referees take charge of many French club games and Heineken Cup..
Tackles in slow motion always look a lot worse. Especially late but the tackler in is the process of tackling and slow motion shows the ball gone then tackled.
The way they handle it, you get a reward for pushing and shoving. They got the TMO check only cause this kind of behaviour. Thats a bad trend. Has nothing to do with Nigel tho, he‘s the best!
I hate football refs more after watching owens. ..Rugby can teach football so much. Love the transparency. No arguments or crappy media pundits talking shit.
Assuming you mean the disallowed ones. One was a blatant knock on in the tackle and one was clear slowing the ball down which he was going to let him off with until it had an effect on the play. You could MAYBE argue the slowing down one could have been allowed but no referee would have awarded the knock on one.
