I grew up on a farm in Iowa. Whenever our neighbor had a frustrating day, his favorite saying was, "I think I'll sell the farm and drive a rendering truck". Back then, driving a rendering truck was a pretty unglamorous job. FYI: you would call the rendering company to come to your farm to pick up dead cattle, hogs, etc., usually after they bloated and stunk REALLY bad!

Days like your having are why we farmers are a rare breed. Your wife is a keeper any wife who cleans out tractor cab is an angel.

You guys are not alone. Bean yield is cruddy here, and to top things off part of center of my reel came off and went into the feeder house of the combine two days ago. Got it torn down and fixed and put all back together yesterday. Going to to try again here before lunch. I hope your luck gets better. And yes its an agco combine…..

In the past, them there kinda days started with the cows being out, a dead battery in the tractor you needed, and to top it off a flat tire on the implement that was to be used. Just had to say a prayer for strength to make it through the day and keep plugging away on various busy work jobs until things started falling into place. Cherish the moment you've got a helpful spouse that helps keep things moving.

If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any luck at all , hang in there Brian and keep the videos coming really enjoying them.

You're living life right. There's really good days and really bad days and then there's all those days in between. Unfortunately some of the best lessons learned are thru a snafu or two, nobody died and no digits were lost. Experience is the thing we needed right before we gained it! That's farmin'. Thank you for what you provide both entertainment wise and the food on the table.

I think deep breaths and a glass of the falling down juice is required after that sort of day! Its reassuring to us mere mortals that even you guys have a run of bad luck. Hope the following days go/went better.

When I worked at the Exxon dealer back in the early 90s, we had a pick up truck set up with a jump cart. It had a 10 hp Kohler engine and you could jump a tractor trailer off with it with dead batteries, cause I’ve done it you could let it sit for five minutes and it would start, I can’t remember who it was made but seriously considerate you could put it on or something where you could pull it around and jump your equipment off you Grace and peace

The knipix stuff is fantastic, you can get really small ones and some which are larger.

Boy, aren't we lucky that we have family to go home to after lousy day and can leave all that happened where it belongs, at the job. Your really lucky because your bride helps when she can and even cleans the cabs of the equipment.

Here on my farm in Western Australia if we find a vehicle/tractor whatever we grab another vehicle and the big jumper leads and jump start the thing with flat batteries, problem solved in a couple of minutes Why do you spend all day waiting for the battery charger to do its thing?

When I have a day like you just had I always remind myself that a bad day of farming is still better doing 9 to 5 in between four walls.

Battery and electric issues happen regardless of tractor age. Changed the alternator on a Chalmers 7080 the other day and it was still not producing a consistent current when it was checked with an volt meter.

So take this for what it is worth. I have decided I no longer have any right to b@%ch about the lack of hay due to the drought. We still have a house, farm, equipment, our lives will go on .There are good folks with literally nothing left, some even missing family members. We could have it a lot worse. Prayers to the grieving ones.

Yep we all too on other side of state from you are masters at breaking stuff,dead batteries, things 《 aka everything including especially equipment even though when put up recently just wanna stay on hiatus. Have a new charger which de-sulphur’s the battery before charging rejuvenates flat batteries like nothing I’ve had before. Keep safe

try jump starting the tractor 🚜 Noco has jump boxes. check that the batteries connectors are tightskies uga dugga’s . If an over night charge won’t get up get going new batteries or rob some batteries out another tractor to get it started.

Know it isn’t a Deere but we always put cables on the starter and a set on the batteries. Shouldn’t work but it always does for us

New battery chargers today aren’t worth a damn. We got a jump pack at work that starts completely dead semis like it’s nothing. It’s definitely a life saver

Man the farmers haven't been having a good year at all from Larson blowing a combine engine to crops being horrible with weather to BFV Ruining a feed belt and everything in between this will test you patience at times But one thing for sure is as a farmer theirs going to be challenges the will be tossed in like a monkey wrench but every farmer overcomes and adapt to those challenges, but its what makes a farmer a tough SOB and i pray that every American farmer has a better year then the the last.

How do you decide how many acres of wheat to plant? I notice you don’t plant 100% of your bean acres with winter wheat. On many other channels I watch, they rotate between corn and beans and never bother with wheat. If wheat makes sense for your climate and bean fields, why not plant wheat in 100% of your bean acres?
