If you're not cleaning your RV’s AC coils, or hiring an RVTAA technician to do it, you're not getting the full performance of your RV Air Conditioner. This is something you just have to do.

The task of climbing up the ladder and walking over to the ACs is a much more daunting task then the coil cleaning.

Thanks! Best RV AC cleaning video I've found yet. Now I'm looking for a video that shows what I'm supposed to do down inside the RV (AC) from underneath.
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy 2 года назад
That can vary greatly depending on your AC and how it is setup. The main thing to consider on the inside is to keep the air intake filters clean to maximize air into your AC.

Excellent video. I own a 10 year old 5th wheel. I've owned it for 2 years. I've never cleaned the coils. I will check it in May. Thank you for the great info!

Another thing to mention is BEWARE of the hornets that LOVE to build their nests inside the shroud/cover. Have some quality hornet spray handy.

I have a 30 amp fuse that blows from time to time when I put a new one in it Sparks with nothing on. That in my mind is an indication there is constant power draw and is a problem. Is this correct?

What do we do if our a/c is in the kitchen area and was used for years without a proper filter before we bought it i.e. grease residue in between the fins.

Question, do you leave the towel in there or do you spray then let it fall on the towel?? When it's done then you remove the towel ?

I have been wanting to do some roof maintenance on my 2019 zinger but it’s advertised as a non walkable roof. Can I still walk on it if it’s just me?
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy 2 года назад
You’ll want to work off of a ladder 🪜. It’s not recommended to walk on it.
@risbill1

Any tips if you don't have a walkable roof?
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy 2 года назад
Have a sturdy ladder up against the wall of your rig. usually you'll be able to reach your AC from the edge.

What about using compressed air or a can of air (computer cleaner) to clean it ?
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy 2 года назад
As long as you’re blowing the opposite direction of the airflow, otherwise you could wedge the dirt deeper into the coil.
@johnnylightning1491
@johnnylightning1491 2 года назад
You also have to be careful not to use too much pressure or get to close to the coils, you can bend the fins over and make a big mess.

When I did this,this past summer my ac quit working after I plugged the pig tail back in. The thermostate started throwing a code. Now I can't even get a re0lacement thermostat because the one my rv uses is obsolete now. HELP!!!
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy Год назад
Is the thermistor pushed into the coils? If it’s not making contact you would get an E code. If it is making contact then follow the wires back to the box. It might have been pulled out from the circuit board. It’s a spade connector type connection. Kill power first.

Being a a future attendee of the NRVA in February for the RV Owners Fundamental class, I have to ask: why aren’t those air purifier filters recommended? Your closing comment was to the effect that let the air conditioner cool the air get something else to filter it-or words to that effect. Just asking because someone else I follow suggested using the air purifier filters. Thanks and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in person in February!
@debo5-073
@debo5-073 2 года назад
too restrictive and doesn't let the air flow properly.. and when those filters get dirty, limited air flow becomes a strain on your A/C motor. It now has to work extra hard to get the air to flow... creating more heat, more wear and drawing more amps to work.... shortening the life of the a/c unit..
@yhenrichon

Does anyone can post a product number of the filter? I checked at my local Walmart, on their website and on Amazon, but I don't seem to find the right filter. Thank you.

I just got some at Walmart. They are in the section with the window a/c units. Duck brand. 96 cents. Hard to believe you can still buy something under a buck. I bought two!! I searched for “foam filter rv”.

@@farmdoc9252 I'm from Canada and Walmart don't carry this particular product. The "equivalent" cost about $22 CAD. Unbelievable. I plan to go to the US this summer and I'll pick some at a store. Thank for sharing what you found.

@@angelavogt9925 Just looked at it. It is a duck brand "Air Condition Filter". Again is not with the a/c filters, in my walmart it was in the section with the actual window a/c units. Hope that helps.

I have a Mach 11. Coils in front and back . Do I use same cleaner on back coils
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

They make specific cleaners for both the condenser coils and and evaporator coils. If you get a no rinse foaming cleaner then it's easy to use it on both.
