➡️ Step-by-step instructions for cleaning a Dometic Brisk Air II:
1) Gather your tools and supplies. You'll need 1-2 cans of each A/C cleaner per unit, depending on their level of dirtiness.
2) Turn off power to all A/C units at the circuit breaker.
3) Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the A/C cover. Place it on the ground so it doesn't blow off the roof.
4) Remove any covers that easily come off of the front and back A/C coils. This will vary depending on the type of air conditioner.
5) Take a picture of the freeze sensor on the front A/C coil before removing it.
6) Place a rag in the bottom of the front A/C coil to soak up water.
7) Use the brush top from the Frost King A/C Coil Cleaner to remove debris from both the front and back A/C coils.
8) Using the Dometic A/C Cleaner, start spraying it on the front A/C coil, working your way from the bottom to the top, and then back to the bottom. Repeat the process on the backside of the front A/C coil. This A/C coil cleaner is safe to use on both the front (inside air) and back (outside air) A/C coils. We prefer to only use it on the front (inside air) A/C coil. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
9) While the front A/C coil is soaking, start cleaning the back A/C coil using the Frost King A/C coil cleaner. Spray it from the bottom until you reach the top, ensuring that the entire A/C coil is covered. Spray whatever areas you can reach on the backside of the back A/C coil and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. The Frost King A/C coil cleaner is ONLY to be used on the back coil (outside air). Do not use this cleaner on the front (inside air) A/C coil.
10) Use a spray bottle to lightly rinse the coils. Clean up dirty water with a rag. Be careful not to slip on the water. If your A/C coils are still very dirty, repeat the process of spraying the cleaner on them and let them both sit for another 10-15 minutes.
11) Looking at the photo you took, put the freeze sensor back in the front A/C coil in the same spot where you removed it.
12) Replace any covers you removed from the front and back A/C coils.
13) Place foil tape over any spots where it was removed from the A/C unit during the cleaning process.
14) Replace the large A/C cover and screw it back into place.
15) From the circuit breaker panel, turn power back on to the A/C units.
16) Turn the A/C on and let it run for about 10 minutes. Check with your hand to see if cold air is coming out of the vent. There will be a slight chemical smell when you turn on the A/C. This smell is coming from the front (inside air) A/C coil that you just cleaned. It's not toxic and will clear in a few minutes.
As a certified technician, I use additional tools to clean and service the A/C units.

Thanks for the great video!! This is my first time doing spring maintenance and it feels pretty overwhelming. We don't use our air conditioners a ton (just in the super heat), if the fins look pretty clean, is it necessary to use the foam? I checked them in the fall and there wasn't a lot of debris then.
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Год назад
Lisa, If you really don’t use the A/C much you could go longer between cleanings. When you do clean them, using the foam breaks down dirt that isn’t visible by looking at it so I always use the foam to clean the coils and it’s amazing at how much dirt gets rinsed out. -Steve

Can you make a video of cleaning the drain pan for that specific ac unit? I’m having a problem of my ac leaking inside. I found that it froze up and ice built up on the coils. Any recommendations?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors 9 месяцев назад
It could still be freezing up or the holes are plugged. There is a hole on each end of the coil that lets the water out. A spray bottle with water is what I use to clean them out.

Can you use the Frost King on both coils? Or do you have to get the other foam (antimicrobial) ?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Год назад
Curtis, The Frost King is not recommended to be used on the front coil that the inside air flows through. The antimicrobial is one reason and the other one is the chemicals in it shouldn’t be distributed through the air of the RV. You can use the anti microbial foam on both coils. -Steve

I got a Dometic Brisk Air (it was for a Road Runner camper). Lately, it causes the AC's own circuit breaker to switch off. Usually when its hot in the day and the sun is beating down on it. Inside looked clean enough... I am unable to get on top of the camper due to broken bones from Bone cancer. Been stuck in this thing since 2019 (shortly after Hurricane Michael)... House had been destroyed, now the remnants of that has been demolished recently. I got a Portable AC and plan on drilling an exhaust out the side and a water line to the Road Runner's rear water hoses. But, still I suspect that the Brisk Air unit needs cleaning on top. Some limbs had grown over it and I got large ants living around there and other bugs. I do plan on replacing the circuit breaker just in case... but my questions are this: 1. Do you have any videos on the older model Brisk Air? Mine looks different than yours slightly. Inside it has a large beige square with the two air exits and a place for a filter (which I have no more filters for so I use a cut piece of foam). When that plastic filter cover is off, I don't see as much dirt or grime on the coils... but that doesn't mean I don't have dirt and build up on top side. 2. I live in Florida... about how much does it cost to have someone come out and clean the top portion or at least diagnose problems? It's gonna be a hot summer I suspect (that's why the portable for now) yet I'm not uber rich. In fact, I can't even get disability payments because I had 1750 in Fema rent money IN my bank at the time and in spite of telling SSA about it they gave me a short time to pay the owner the rent to get the money out of the bank (limit $2,000 in an account to receive disability $500 per month). I couldn't do this in time so they "terminated" the disability payments without telling me DURING the COVID crisis when their Offices were closed to the public. Couldn't even go in to speak to them! Anyhow, fighting the cancer currently and just gave up on the disability payments (its a long 6 month process just to get approved)!. I do have some relatives helping out... but wonder what kind of cost I'm looking at to get a professional to clean the top/outside part. Most likely they will need a scafold since the roof is weak and (already leaks in two places - 1 over the bed, 1 directly in front of the toilet-- yup.. this camper is cursed!). Any ideas or suggestions? Or older videos on this model Its a "Duo-Therm" by Dometic Brisk Air by Dometic (says both of that on the unit inside) I didn't see a serial number or date. Thanks in advance for reading

It sounds like the A/C unit needs a good cleaning. If you have someone who is certified, they will know how to test the electrical components to see if a capacitor has failed. A failed capacitor will cause the breaker to trip inside the RV. I'm not familiar with Florida pricing. However, I would expect a couple hundred to get someone out to clean it. Possibly more with needing to bring scaffolding. The tech locator to find a tech near you is: RVTAA.org/locate

Great video. I just noticed I had some red fluid leaking at one point since I noticed it had run down the side. It was dry on the side and top. It is not leaking now. I cleaned the coils and wiped up everything and no fluid - yet. Should I be running it? Any suggestions?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors 11 месяцев назад
I’ve seen residue that looks like red fluid was there although it’s dirty moisture/mildew/mold that dried up. If the A/C is still cooling it hasn’t leaked out it’s oil/freon and there should be no harm in running it. If it’s not cooling it may have leaked out and then there is no point in running it any longer.

Heart video .. is there no filter on the inside of the unit ??
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors 11 месяцев назад
There is an inside filter and they only filter the large particles. If you put a thick filter in, the air flow will be restricted and the A/C won’t cool well. We cover the filter cleaning in our full maintenance video: ru-vid.com/group/PLWHr94d9Za_hB2f7XLTCQA4Pb2dj9IkME

Our temp sensor is very high in the coil. Have you seen this before? In your video and others I’ve seen the sensor was pretty much in the middle.
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors 8 месяцев назад
Depends on your A/C brand. The Dometic in the video should be center or just left of center and at the bottom. Coleman should be 4” (4 coils) up and 4” from the right.

What’s the best A/C brand for Texas heat from your experience?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors 2 месяца назад
The Coleman Mach 8 is one I’ve see with great performance in the heat demanding areas like Texas. Coleman uses less power so they are easier on the RV wiring in the heat. Either way a white cover on the A/C makes a huge difference over the black covers on most RVs.

We have a 43.6 ft 5th wheel. We need to get up high on the side to work on and treat the rubber parts on the slide out. We saw you were leaning the ladder 🪜 on the roof and side of the RV. Will that damage it?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Год назад
Christin, We use pipe insulation like pool noodles on the ladder where it meets the roof so we don’t damage the roof. In some cases, we’ll add a yoga mat on the RV in addition to the pool noodles to give extra cushion so we don’t damage the RV. -Steve

What would you consider to be a good “cold” temperature coming out of the ac if it’s working properly?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Месяц назад
The difference in intake and discharge air temp is the deciding factor. 14-16 degree split is in the acceptable range. I like to see in the 16-20 range. (70* in / 54* out)
@heathmurphy7825
@heathmurphy7825 Месяц назад
@@RadarRoadWarriors so 70 degrees outside and 54 degrees coming out of the vents?
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Месяц назад
@@heathmurphy7825 not the outside air. The 70 degree part of the measurement is the air going into the filter on the inside of the RV. The 54 degree part would be the cold air coming out of the vent.

How many cans of cleaner recommended to clean 3 A/Cs ??
@RadarRoadWarriors
@RadarRoadWarriors Год назад
It’s going to take 1-2 cans of each type of cleaner per air conditioner. 1 can each if your A\C is fairly clean. 2 cans each if the A/C has not been cleaned in a while and are very dirty. You can open up the A/C units to see the level of dirtiness and then buy the amount you’ll need to clean them.
