I walked miles today and came across some interesting locations and found a few old things. First thing I did was hike up to the top of a good size hill with my Fisher F19 to see if I could find anything, I did not but at least I went and checked. I then started a very large hike exploring and doing some landscape history reading the land. I came to a spot that had been dug out decades ago and there was some interesting dump stuff like an old 6 volt flashlight and probably a 100 year old milk container of all things. Exploring these old deserted New England farmlands is amazing when you really look around and see it all over grown. I finally came out to an old road that had nice rock walls so I did a bit more metal detecting and finally found a nice 1700s Tombac button. The whole point of taking these adventures is not so much the relic hunting and finding old stuff. It is soaking in all the history of these deserted places and reading the land to see where people did things long ago. a great day !
