@@suilfisean Of the two who deal with people "pushing back", I would say Boylan, who literally has a show where people call into him disagreeing with him, is more used to it than most. Generally people on the right welcome debate because we know our ideas stand up to scrutiny. How often does Cuddihy do the same? How often does he NOT have anyone else but some woke lefty on? Oh wait - never. The Left know their ideas DONT stand up to scrutiny, which is why they never do debates or have their POV challenged. And its why they resort to name calling when they are proved wrong.
And this is the reason why newstalk presenters are living in a bubble and get surprised when the majority of their own listeners have totally different views. Immigration, gender identity, BLM, Brexit, Covid. You are not allowed to challenge their views.Newstalk are one of the main culprits.

Not once did he ask him, “do you think maybe the people of Newtownmountkennedy” have a point? Or any difficult questions. Not once. Just the usual about the Far Roysh. And of course he never asked him to define what that means either. None of them will.

I stopped listening to Cuddihy a long time ago.If you don't agree with his opinion he will try to ram it down your throat.Much prefer Matt Cooper.Cuddihy belongs in RTE where he will find some friends.
He shouldn't have an opinion. He should be playing devil's advocate with all his interviewees and expressing differing points of view on behalf of his listeners.

I’m a been an avid listener of Newstalk, for many years. However, I’ve given up on the Last Word. It was excellent when Yates was presenting but Cuddihy just doesn’t have the chutzpah for a national radio show.

Cuddihys treatment of Boylan is completely and absolutely different to how Ciara Kelly spoke to Jennifer Carol McNeil. Cuddihy is out to get Boylan, whereas when McNeil was interviewed by Kelly, it was a polite, civil chat, where McNeil was allowed to say whatever she wanted . Truly awful !
We do have robust laws in relation to migration as Niall said - they are simply not being implemented and McEntee has no interest in implementing them - she should resign...!

Because Boylan is used to talking over people on his show - he can mute the caller when he wants to. The host was simply not going to be spoken over on his own show

@@Art-is-craft What false claims were those? I didn't feel he lost control at all, he was being firm with someone who's used to just talking over people and he wasn't about to let him away with it there
@@suilfisean He was jumping around in different issues causing confusion and making false claims that Boylan was a single issue candidate. And when it was pointed out by Boylan that he was not a single issue candidate the interviewer would then change subject to pretend the new argue penny was part of the previous discussion. It was a terrible interview.

So he challenged him on that. That's what he's supposed to do. Boylan then clarified what he actually meant to say and that was it.
Lost respect for Cuddihy, I won't lie. I like his show, and think hes a great host, but you must be delusional if you dont see the bias he has here. The way he attacks Boylan is ridiculous. Not because its wrong, he's right to challenge him the way he has. The issue is however, is that he never challenges anyone in government like he has here. The way he interviews any government official is a walk in the park for them. Fair play to Boylan though, he was well able to stand his ground.
@@Oh-vk2oe Probably because anyone who is objective could see that Cuddihy had no intention of being honest or balanced from the outset, it is clear he dislikes him and what he stands for, and made no attempt to hide that. Now go and contrast that with his interview with Stephen Donnelly a few days ago or anyone from the government/anyone from the Left he interviews. Night and Day. And if you read through the comments, everyone else can see it too. Not you though. Which speaks volumes.
