The state legislature has been republican for years, and the governor was a republican at the time. Kennedy was a democrat back then. Taxes are used to regulate greed. If the education system hadn't lost most of its funding over the last 50 years, and if the fair and balanced media laws hadn't been repealed, and if preachers were held to account for stealing from their flock of sheep, stupidity might not be a problem in the US.
