If I have $20g in my account, and the cashier tells me I owe more money on a $20 purchase, I'm calling my bank immediately to check on the situation. I'm not gonna take the time to argue with the cashier. I'd be in panic mode. Whatever happened with the computer that rang up his card, it shouldn't be the cashier's fault.
Honestly the cashier would have most likely tried to work with him if he didn't start off immediately hot and entitled. Most people give back what you give them first

@@woolfy02 The 'split pay" thing, at least at my store, happens automatically and is usually dependent on your bank whether or not it's allowed. The cashier doesn't actually have any control over that in stores that automatically do it. But I do know also have most big stores can "split pay" between different payments automatically.

Personally, I love seeing “behind the scenes.” My daddy was a police officer with Birmingham, Alabama. He retired in 1988. Computers were just becoming a thing, then. No bullet proof vests, no cell phones, no less than lethal options. No VICAP. No DNA. No Amber alerts. I love seeing our police being outfitted with the gear they need.
The whiny dude in the end… when the cop asks you “what happened” and you start in with a long, confusing, irrelevant story, you know he’s lying. But also, he implicated himself in his dumb story. I don’t even know what his problem is. He is obviously the problem. When you are asked to leave, you must leave. You don’t get to do any thing but leave. As far as I can tell he's just one of those rude entitled people who don't like being told something they don't like. Didn't have enough money available on his account so he gets angry and blames the cashier while cursing at the cashier. Then gets offended when the cashier doesn't want to put up with his bullshit.
Oxford is loaded. Sure they have way more money than most cities around here but that’s for several reasons. 1. It lands at the intersection of two major hi-ways and an interstate. 2. It’s is loaded with every major tax revenue stream in the world. 3. And moat importantly it has had great forward thinking leadership for decades . Police Chief Bill is just another in along line of great leaders. This is why Oxford has “more toys than it needs”, they work hard to have crime under control unlike every other city around.
How come this Oxford police department acts completely different to most?? In a good way?!?! I mean they approach people with respect they don’t demand ID like all other officers immediately claiming they need it for their “report” and then that wraps people up in other potential issues… I like them offering assistance deescalating there is no need for drama unless your dealing with someone who is clearly posing an immediate threat to life. Well done keep it up you will make a massive difference in peoples opinions of the police 👮♂️ department!

That last guy was just an asshole and quite common it feels like when working as a gas station clerk. Some people just can't seem to understand that we don't control what their bank does with their money. When your card partially approves for part of the transaction, you should contact your bank and figure out what's going on, not curse at the employee just doing their job. Be nice and the employee might actually try to help you or figure it out.

Oxford has "new money" - an exchange that has become a major commerce center, Choccolocca Park, which brings in tournaments and events, Oxford Performing Arts Center.... I live nearby and it's an up and coming little city.
Oxford had one helluva long-term mayor named Leon Smith,under his leadership Oxford brought many new businesses into town and increased their tax revenue drastically.In short,they've got all the latest high tech equipment because they can afford it.
That’s just the city limits. There’s plenty more ppl around in the “suburbs” and more rural areas, and they are a main hub between Birmingham and altlanta. They also have big shopping centers and lots of restaurants and hotels, that fill up during the week of the fairly close talladega racetrack. Ppl also flood in from all the farm country, even Georgia, for shopping and eating. It’s a pretty awesome place.
Oxford Alabama has a population of around 40k... and it has a police department THIS well funded? Good thing they got that drug interdiction and asset seizure moiney rolling in!
I live here. Population is closer to 20,000. Good retail tax base and a long line of good leadership. Good location also, along the interstate halfway between Birmingham and Atlanta.
Could it be the cashier lied and said the card did not have enough limit on it and he could pay the $6.00 in cash so he could keep the cash? And then got angry when he wanted the card to be run thru again. Cashiers always try again at least a second time when there is a problem with a card so I find that odd. The guy was a jerk so it's hard to feel sorry for him. He did say they were from the half way house and this may be a scam they are running on people.

Not to mention they help multiple other departments, and it’s a heavy shopping and eating destination for a big part of rural Alabama AND Georgia. The more you know…

Low crime and the schools are excellent. They seldom write tickets because they don't need the money to fund the city. You have to be going really fast or doing something really dangerous to get a ticket in Oxford.
