I’m from Harlan, this song means a lot to me, I spent 25 years working in the mines. You did this song justice, great job! And keep up the flat picking!!
Hey dude!! Lifelong guitar player here.. from Harlan Co, Ky.... I get request for this song all the time because of my heritage... but I just wanted to say, you nailed it dude!! Great cover!! This song isn't for the weekend warrior guitarists .... LOL keep it up!! :)
Darrell Scott is one of my fav artists and I was afraid to watch because I thought no way could anyone else do it justice but Brother..you KILLED IT! GREAT job!
I didn't really understand American Country music. Then I heard this. You do the genre proud, to make a foreigner like me understand a slither of what passion and soul lies in country music. Thank you, man.
You did good with it bub .. former coal miner and every time I hear this song it makes me stop in my tracks and realize how lucky I am to have been a part of a coal miner heritage and at the same time all that it has taken away from all of us miners ...we’ve all lost good friends and family from making a paycheck to put food on the table RIP to all Brothers who have fallen in a coal mine and may god watch over their families ...great job on the cover Tim and keep them coming
This song was written by Darrell Scott and has been recorded by Patty Loveless and by Brad Paisley. Sometimes the writer is the only one that can do the song justice but I have to give it to Timothy Baker. Don't get me wrong; I love to hear Darrell, Patty and Brad do this song, but Timothy has so much feeling in it.
I am really impressed with what you have done with this song. This song means a lot to me as I am from Harlan County Kentucky. You are very talented and I wish you lots of luck. I hope to be able to buy something that you have recorded in the near future. I have just watched some of the other songs you have done as well, wow...better than some of the originals in my opinion.
Man I never comment and ive watched alot of youtube guitar players and your the first one that ever made me truely jealous your transitions through this song and the smooth flat picking without over doing it was awesome.....My family also has roots in Harlan Co. so this song is one I hold very dear and you really did it great.
I've seen Darrell 3 or 4 times at small venues in Maine and he played this every time of course. (Had to move back to Virginia though, too many Yankees for me) I recently saw someone play this on YT and remembered how much I liked it and decided to learn it. I searched "how to play" and of all the results, THIS is the one I'll learn from. I genuinely like it above all others, even Darrell. VERY well done! I'll try and do it justice as well.
I've followed your songs a while. Amazed at the level you were at in this video. The picking on this song is difficult, been practicing a couple weeks and still struggling with it. And then to incorporate the signing. Real good job.
Wow...that was just awesome! You have a fantastic sounding guitar and play it the way it was meant to be played. You should go way far with your talent!
You remind me so much of my son. He's also a musician that started out early. He recorded his first CD in Nashville when he was 14. We've written several songs together since then. He's now singing with his band all over Oregon, Washington and Idaho and lovin it. His name is Zac Grooms and the band is Unwound. I'll remember your name because some day you'll be up on the big stage :)
Great sound dude. If you get a chance to compete on some of these famous shows...Play this song. Trust me. Your sound is great. Keep at it man. You have a talent.
I hope to hear you on the radio one day kid. I have always loved this song and I feel like you did it justice...Great guitar work too! Keep it up. American Idol!!!!! Do it!
Fantastic Job! This has always been a favorite of mine. What kind of guitar is that and what is the audio recording setup if you don't mind answering. It sounds professionally mixed. Great job my man!!!
Tim, you are extremely gifted! I'm grateful that you share your wonderful talent with others. I just subscribed to your wonderful channel. Peace and joy, Charlie
