I play kobolds as adorable little gremlins that just go bananas for hugs, chin scritches and chocolate. They also will absolutely go postal when you attack them.

I remember in the first campaign I ran, I created a group of 5 kobolds for my players to fight, and boy, did I get attached to those rascals. My favorite was Stick, whom died in a valiant attempt of suicide bombing the party with an improvised explosive.

Metallic dragons use Kobolds too. Copper dragons in particular are known for it.

i play kobolds pretty much exclusively. the moment I played my first kobold, it was all over for other races. if i can't be a wholesome companion boye or a completely insane gremlin who's convinced himself he's a full fledged dragon, i don't want to play. :P

You can probably recruit an army of kobolds with promises of food and shiny coins. Just provide them with lots of potatoes and brass coins and convince them to dig a lair fit for a dragon. Boom a pc homebase on the cheap.

I yearn for the mines, I have repeatedly bullshited my way to a fix, including but not limited to using a wood burning tool to warp some broken plastic back together. I scavenge out of trash for stuff to tinker with. I’m not the perfect kobold but as the years go on I’m getting closer

I only noticed this because I'm making a Kobold Barbarian, but Draconic Cry is actually mechanically better than Grovel, Cower, and Beg. because it is in fact a bonus action, where as Grovel, Cower, and Beg. is a full action. You also can use Draconic Cry more often per rest.

I'm glad they replaced the groveling with the draconic cry. Because of my opinion it makes sense for them to have some sort of draconic Pride even if they were made to serve a dragon, and it lets you have more variety of pigeonholing your courageous Kobold character that is basically Fearless to have a useless ability, and it frees up your Kobold character that DOES have that personality, but is able to unleash that cry in a surprising show of force, possibly surprising the character themself.

I played an insane chronomancer kobold who was an amnesiac and pretty badly mutilated, once. His main drive was to find a Wish spell to get his memories back. Our BBEG actually had a scroll of Wish, and during the final battle the Druid’s husband (an npc ally) ate a disintegrate and was dusted. We mourned him after the battle and I was sitting there with my wish, and wished for her husband to be restored. She was pretty shocked. When she asked why, he said, “I can’t remember what I lost. You can.” He was such a good boy.

@mr.reborn5518 Legendary play sessions by a DM who made 1Hit Dice Kobolds in 2e that used intelligence hit and run trapping tactics in a dungeon crawl, and never gave the players a chance to get a shot at them. Google them, they're famous.

@@mr.reborn5518 basically lore accurate kobolds. They rarely leave theirs mines which are built like fortresses, and it's difficult to get much of anything done if your not the size of a kobold. Spikefalls, oiled ropes, darts, greased floors, and they let your party move around an average size cave/dungeon, while they have an ant-like maze separate from it with holes just big enough to see and shoot at you through, or activate traps. Became well known through a magazine interview during 2nd or 3rd edition, and has been around since ADnD or 1st Edition.

I have a kobold rouge named snaggle the first time I used him he failed at cheating in a game of cards got kicked out went over the the store near the bar to ask for information accidentally scaring the store owner to call the guards and have him get arrested. After getting got out he killed some terrorists, went on a diplomatic mission and helped his friends fight trolls in a colosseum. Later on in life he fought and giant crab for glory. And that’s the ballet of snaggle.

In a campaign im in, im a dragonborn and me mates are kobolds, it is legit one dragonborn barbarian and 4 kobolds (one rogue, one sorcerer, a fighter and paladin) our method of getting the rogue in secure places like castles, i throw him over the wall.
