Considering the devs and how the outside is written in spanish, one could assume this takes place in Argentina. So my head cannon is that because there are some typos in the papers it could be that some Argentinian scientist wanted to create a Demidog but accidentally misspelled Demigod and the rest of the english speaking staff rolled with it lol.

Even with his super enhanced human-dog-demigod-senses, he can't sense a child, hiding under a table.

Gotta love that the scientists left a shotgun for the random guy for their experiment, only for the guy to not even think of using it.

I like the idea that their entire reason for trying to make A Demigod out of a man and dog is based purely upon that Dog is God backwards, and it seems quite likely that they really just made a DemiDog.

I love these kinda horror games, with relaxing ambience & "old school" pixel appearance. Easy to relax to, while something eerie is still around the corner... bonus points if no high volume jumpscare ruining it all. Time for me to sleep to this.

I like the fact that the dog has still been checked and slightly experimented with suggesting the "Dog" we take home could just be abnormal.

Hey Manly Dunno if you remember a game called Lily's Well but the creator of that game made a new one recently called Lost Cartridge - Cold Read The art, puzzles, and story are as good as the first game, which is an impressive level to have maintained

Yet again, Manly's power of prediction shows itself. This was fun, I can get behind an ultimately creative idea with a weird monster. It was more funny than scary but I imagine that was intentional.

When you found the letter about the "perfect specimen," I thought that was Tomy. I was waiting for the discovery that they'd turned your dog into the monster. I think that would have improved the story tbh

Interesting game, not terribly threatning but the dogs footsteps being nearly omnipresent at the end was pretty spooky, and the do'sg pursuit / searching music is pretty effective at creating dread! :D

The way you kept mentioning Resident Evil really made me think about how much this game seems inspired by it. The lab aesthetic, the mutations, the music when the main Antagonist is close or chasing you, even a safe room with a chest and some calming music lol. I wonder if it was intentionally made as a Resident Evil parody, since it's a little sillier of a concept, or if it's genuinely a fan inspired enough to make their own little game. In general I find the analog retro style of horror games overdone, but one thing I do like about them is that it gives horror fans opportunities to make a fun, scary game, with fewer resources than Capcom or Konami, even if it is a little amateur. I certainly couldn't do better lol

my favorite thing about manly is that he somehow finds a horror game for literally any combination of English words

This game had atmosphere. I can definitely see a part 2 coming from this. Umbral is definitely a nod to resident evil. Love it. The ball definitely needs to be throwable, and it would be scarier if the dog man would drop on all 4s and really run at you. But it was definitely scary as is. Somw howls when you get away or something might add to the overall atmosphere too

There's something really funny about like, Umbrella Corporation, but instead of zombies, they have dogs

I'm not even joking when I say this game give me goosebumps, I don't know why but this concept and the whole monster it's just f*ckign scary to me, I never felt so uncomfortable with a game, specially in in the scene where we are hiding in that room full of tanks, seeing the monster through the cameras and feeling anxiety. Normally in midia it's common having the image of kids and dogs with this friendship and taking care bond, but here, we kinda have this with the protagonist being a kid searching for his dog BUT also escaping from a scary mandog. It would be great having this game in a extended or a sequel.

_What is the Law_ "Not to spill blood. That is the Law. Are we not men?" Those quotes about the Law from Island of Lost Souls always come back to haunt every movie or game about animal/human hybrid experimentation. And there is always that horrible underlying tragedy, like the specimens in the tubes here. I liked the game's premise, the end music made me tear up a little lol. I thought the footsteps and the music for the 'monster' were excellent and very creepy. I thought the filter effects were a bit heavy, but I guess it added to the atmosphere. It comes down to the same question about all scientific breakthroughs - just because we _can_ doesn't mean we should.

This would actually work as B movie Horror Slock..... *and I kind wish they did it.*

Its kinda hard to tell with the graphics, but the hallway where the white rabbit first shows up uses the hallway floor pattern from The Shining.

So from the notes it seems you ARE the test for God Dog and your actual dog is the bait to get you there.

It's a little hard to take seriously but my god is Ruben terrifying. I think it needs some touching up but there's some serious potential here.

Honestly this game unsettles me more than most. The thought of doing that to innocent dogs, along with the fact dogs are tested on irl all the time

The more I look at Ruben’s picture, the more unsettling I feel. At first it just looks like a dog sticking its tongue out and panting but then when you look closer you realize the tongue is connected to the nose and it’s not just that black pigment that they have near their nose around where their whiskers are The tongue is connected to the nose and now I’m starting to think the dog might not have a nose and it’s just a giant hole in its head that its tongue is coming out of and what I thought was a slight smile while panting could also be more of that hole.

When they mentioned fusing dogs and humans I was fully expecting a fma ending

This reminds me of a story called the tracks. A short horror story about a man in a post apocalyptic world where he has to enter a dark subway tunnel to rescue his dog from mysterious monsters. Creepsmcpasta narrates it.

Such a bizarre game, pretty neat. Loved the aesthetics, PS1 graphics but a bit different.
