after 2 years with 2 of this trucks (brushed and brushless) i couldnt recommend any other rc for a beginner or pro. They are amazing, ultra reliable and so easy to learn and work on. The only thing letting them down are the tires which you can easily change for grippier ones and thinner to make steering better.
I noticed on these 1/16 Haiboxing trucks/buggies, most often the wheels are attached with phillips head screws (ridiculous), and others have stub axles with a typical (much better) threaded nut holding the wheels on. My Blomiky Destroyer (just received a few days ago) uses screws and the wheels/tires wobble badly and are horribly out of balance. I could order the parts to fix this, but didn't realize what I was getting into. A truck like the 16889 pro, with all the good parts sounds more interesting. I have three 1/14 scale Team Associated Reflex 14B 4wd buggies. They are built to a much higher standard ($200). Bashing is not my thing, I like going really fast around large empty parking lots, Indy 500 style.
You can grab the 16889a pro on ebay for 85 dollars US shipped. Super cheap great truck. I bought 1, put 1/10th scale tires on it, upgraded the battery to 2200mah 2s, and the thing absolutely RIPS. Stock battery is garbage. Also if you go with a longer runtime bigger battery, get a heatsink for the motor.
No sir, I have 3 Sledges (1 for parts) and an X-Maxx, soon to have a second X-Maxx. One each of the X-Maxxes and Sledges I let buddies/kids use (Bluetooth modules come in handy) and the other X-Maxx and Sledge will be modded to high heavens 😈 Your posts in the X-Maxx group have really come in handy for me as I choose the mod-path with my X-Maxx. Going Hobbywing 1100kv and MMX8S w/ Bowhouse mount. It’s a very lightweight setup in comparison to XLX-2 and the castle 1100kv or 800kv. I have the ninja shogun that a drive around with my little kids, and I have to admit it’s quite similar to the truck portrayed in this video. They are inexpensive and a lot of fun. You’re correct in saying just go get one 😎
Yeah the same truck goes by a lot of different names so it's entirely possible that it's identical. And for the price there's really no reason not to get one.
Pretty cool little truck. My favorite cheapO is those WLToys 200019 17 I forget the exact numbers but one is a buggy and the other is a dessert racer. They are pretty dang fast out the box especially with a 3S and they are pretty dang tough. With a gear change if I remember correctly they hit 60+. That's crazy for the price. I think they just had a 50% off sale ? I like this one also for a little basher. It's definitely pretty dang tough and fast enough for it's size. 👍✌️
Yeah I've tried a few of the WL toys and I just wasn't really that impressed with them. I know that a lot of people really enjoy them but for some reason I could just never get on board with them. This thing just gelled right from the beginning with me. It feels very high quality, everything is smooth and quiet it just works great. @@DoRC Yeah they aren't perfect by no means lol but for a first little cheapO it would be cool. I'm more of a racer so I would pick a buggy. For someone that prefers bashing I'd definitely pick the monster truck. Buggies don't backflip so great lol. I'm subscribed 👍✌️
@@DoRC i have this truck, got it for my grandson to run when me and my son run our RC’s, i put a 3s in it cus i wanted to see if it was possibly & man….. i was very impressed 💪🏽💯 great video bro, love your content😉👍🏼💯
I would strongly advise it. There's really no reason not to get one. It's so cheap! Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated :-)
I did had to replace the receiver only once because I did run it through little bit of water and short it out when I replace it works perfectly fine even when going through water nice video bud
Hi there im new. I ordered this csr and it will come soon. I wanna upgrade the esc and the motor. Can someone link me good motor and esc what fits in this car?? Bangood would be good.
You might want to stick with the stock system for now. It's decently powerful and if you start upgrading things you're going to end up breaking other things. I'd recommend just getting the car having fun with it and then maybe if you get bored with it consider picking up something a bit bigger as opposed to thinking a bunch of money into this.
Not really sure. All the ones that aren't Traxxas that I'm aware of or not particularly waterproof. That being said a few drops here and there aren't going to hurt anything with the ones that aren't waterproof.
Yeah not bad and you can run it on 3s it's just a little risky. I'm actually going to be testing it out on 3s today I just didn't want to do that in the video because technically you're not supposed to and I didn't want to advise anybody to blow up their trucks :-)
No links but if you go on eBay and look for 16889 pro you can usually find them on there. The price is vary but there are sometimes some pretty good deals. Thanks for commenting and be sure to be subscribed for a chance to win :-)
Yeah I'm definitely going to end up trying it I just didn't want to do it for the video because I have heard reports of people blowing theirs up and I didn't want to recommend something that could end up damaging someone's car. It's actually a lot of fun on 2s and as long as you're not trying for high-speed action it's got plenty of power. Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed subscribed a sub is appreciated!
I'm also not running those tires anymore. I'm running 2.2 trenchers on it. Awesome little tires and a huge upgrade! Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub is appreciated :-)
I think it's always good to open your diffs and check things out when you get a new RTR. That being said I have never touched mine and they've been fine. Not saying it's the right thing to do but I haven't had any issues. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub to my channel is appreciated :-)
Its slower than a traxxas, but you could buy another motor and ESC. The tires are bad, but you can buy new ones. Does this make it really cheaper?! Spare parts are hard to get, Tuning parts are not existing. Same to dealers you could give support. Would not recommend.
It's not really any slower than a brushed 1/16 Traxxas which it's half the price of. The tires aren't the best but most RTR tires aren't great and you'll end up replacing them. No issues with parts availability you can get them many places online. There are some upgrades available for it but honestly since it doesn't really break you don't really need to replace parts or upgrade things.
Looks like basically the same car. If you want I'm giving away one of these vehicles in a newer video. Just need to subscribe and put a comment in the video for a chance to win!
Id definitely suggest the pro. Its has a bunch of strength upgrades, doesnt cost that much more and is a fair amount more powerful. Theres a speed knob on the transmitter so you can make it slower to begin with. Thanks for watching and a sub is appreciated:)
Hi, friend. I have a problem with my hbx16889a pro, I bought it new and when I raise the car and give gas and release with the car in hand, or raised it makes a noise as if they were bearings or the transmission shafts were short and then it has looseness . the car is new, do you know if this is normal? I hope I have explained myself well, a strong greeting, you are the best!!!
Unfortunately it's really hard to diagnose a problem like that via a RU-vid comment. My email address is in the about section of my channel. If you want to shoot me an email with a quick video clip of what you're talking about I can tell you if it sounds normal or not.
You'll have to check the about section on my channel from a desktop browser. For some reason it doesn't allow you to see it from a mobile browser. I would just give it to you here but that will open it up to spammers who troll the comment sections looking for email addresses.
@@oskartubekp okay well does it run normally when it's on the ground? It's normal for there to be some noise when it's running especially when there's no load on it because it's a bunch of gears rattling against each other.
The stock ESC can only handle 2s. It's pretty lively on 2S though. I've upgraded mine to 3S with an aftermarket hobby wing ESC and honestly it's too much. It'll do standing backflips but it also breaks things.
@@DoRCI know it’s been a while, but I’m looking for an esc upgrade for my 16890SA which actually comes with a hobbywing 25a esc. Did you upgrade yours to the hobbywing 16bl30? Would that be a worthwhile upgrade if I already have a 25a? I’m itching for more power (already running 3s)
@magnusstone I don't remember which ESC I put in there. I don't have it anymore but I think it might have been a 60 amp ESC. The 30 amp PSC probably would be an upgrade though I'm not sure exactly how much of one.
I actually did and it didn't work. Under anything but very light acceleration the ESC would trip out. Apparently from what I've heard the pro model with the larger motor does not like 3s. I've already ordered an upgraded ESC so that I can run 3s on mine :-) Thanks for watching and if you aren't already subscribed a sub is appreciated!
Definitely. I've got about a half a dozen packs through it now and it's still holding up great. It's awesome just throw in the car and bring wherever. I also don't mind handing the controller to other people because if it breaks it's not like it's going to be expensive to fix.
