We don't recommend altering the FNSKU to avoid potential problems when it gets scanned in the Amazon Fulfillment Centers. You can try reprinting the FNSKU code from your shipping plan.

This is so useful, thank you. Are there limitations as to the shape of surface that the FNSKU is printed on - on a bottle for example? Would the curvature of the bottle be a problem and would it need to be printed on a flat surface? I also noticed your FNSKU was behind your plastic sheet packaging - presumably the reflectivity doesn't affect it and I wouldn't need to get a matte printing finish for my FNSKU? Thanks

What will be the bottle's packaging? Using a box/flat surface is better to prevent any issues scanning the FNSKU. The transparent plastic should not be an issue, as it is common for brand-new products to have a plastic

Thank you for your informative video. Why once I went to seller central to print barcodes for my products, my ASIN barcode was printed out instead of the FNSKU barcode? At the time I listed my product the setting was set to FBM. My supplier already was given barcode labels that start with BO instead of XO. Now that I realized my mistake I have changed the setting to FBA. Once I go to Inventory/ Manage All Inventory / click Edit / scroll down to print barcodes/ it is still not changing to print barcodes from my ASIN to a FNSKU barcode label. How to fix this? Would my products get commingled? Thank you kindly for your advise.

you may need to check the the FBM has been changed to FBA; contact seller central to be sure so you can acquire the right barcodes!

You can either use manufacturer barcodes (eg GCID, UPC, EAN, or ISBN)

as usual Great Video and super clear! So basically if I sell only via Amazon I do not need to print my UPC barcode on the label but only print the FNSKU? I am wondering if there is any legal requirement to have the UPC barcode shown in the product, at least for the EU.

Hey Dan! Yes, the FNSKU will be suffice for FBA. I also don't think that there's a requirement in EU to have the UPC on the box. 😉

hi there! thank you for your amazing videos! I used GS1 to purchase my barcode and when I go to set up my first product I am getting an error that the UPC does not match the product. I attached the barcode to my company name (LLC) rather than my amazon store name, is that the reason this is happening? Have you seen this before? Any advice? thank you!

It is! Even if there is a UPC or other store code, you'd need to use it to get Amazon's FNSKU (their system codes)

Hello, just one qurstion. is it possible to have 2 barcodes (1 UPC and 1 SKU) ? . both would be at the back of the packaging and labelled 'amazon sku' and 'upc'.

If you are using the Amazon FNSKU, you must have the UPC covered by the FNSKU.

How strict in amazon on requiring a country of origin label on the product itself? I can place it on the packaging, but it will be difficult to put on product and more costly due to having to make a label on fabric. Any way around this requirement?

Great work is done by JS 🙂 Query: So basically, (The first step is to generate UPC bar codes from GS1) and the (next step is to get FNSKU from Amazon). Also, When you say that FNSKU shall be on the "package" (So example: If I am shipping 5000 no's of mobile covers of 3 different colors then * how many FNSKU do I need to have? * And where this FNSKU code shall be sticked? Only on the main package/box (which contains all the covers inside) or on each separate pack of mobile cover? Please reply.

You will need a unique FNSKU for each color, and you will need to place the SKU on the packaging of each unit

Sorry for confusion the product id(UPC) does have to be obtained from GS1 before listing the product. I tried finding the specific time for when this is mentioned but couldn't.

You need a UPC for your Amazon product because Amazon requires all new product detail pages to have a unique product identifier when they are created, such as a UPC, EAN, GTIN, and so on. All these are examples of a product identifier. www.junglescout.com/blog/buy-upc-codes-for-amazon/

We have an issue where our FNSKUs do not match across North American Amazon marketplaces and European Amazon marketplaces. Is there a reason not to just use our UPC barcode on our product packaging so that we can avoid needing multiple packaging designs for different marketplaces?

@@junglescout We have GS1 UPC barcodes for our products. The issue is that the EU listings have new FNSKUs. So, we seemingly need to create separate packaging for N. America and EU to account for the different FNSKU barcodes. Do you have a blog on this topic?

I tried to order a GS1 code for my product but i can get to checkout because i have to fill a W-9 form. Is there a way around this? I tried to buy from my country of residence(Austria) unfortunately they dont offer single codes like GS1 US :(

In this case, i need to buy company prefix...now the confusion comes in...since my brand name is different from my company name. Yes, for most categories, it is compulsory to provide Amazon with an industry-standard product identifier. Those exist, amongst others, in the form of GTINs. Depending on your product category, different GTINs will be required. The most common ones are EAN, UPC and ISBN.

Are these unique handmade products made in bulk and do they all look the same or are they all different? Handmade is tough because products can vary and customers need to know what they are purchasing. Check our blog out for more info on handmade products and how to list them!

Let's say I get the 10, and later in the future I want to add more items to my store surpassing the 10 mark. What happens then? Because if I understand it correctly, the UPC number contains the number of items that I can have in the bar code. So once I go over 10, I will need a set of entirely new UPC codes for all my products?

You should be able to just purchase additional UPC codes (for example a batch of 10 new codes), and you won't need to change the old codes. However, it would be best to verify that with the GS1 support

The landed cost includes the original price of the product, transportation fees (both inland and ocean), customs, duties, taxes, tariffs, insurance, currency conversion, crating, handling and payment fees. All of these individual costs are part of the value of the received goods.

Hi. The seller is responsible for labeling your product with a barcode. You can also ask your supplier to put the barcode on the product. You can purchase barcodes from organizations like GS1 US or generate them using a barcode generator tool. Once you have your barcodes, attach them to your product packaging in a clear, easily scanned location. Sometimes, the supplier may charge an additional fee for applying the barcode.

Typically, Amazon FNSKU barcodes, which are used for product identification, are generated by Amazon itself. The format of the barcode may vary, but it usually doesn't start with 'X00'. It's possible that your supplier has a different requirement or system in place. To make sure you have the correct barcode format, I suggest verifying the barcode generation process within your Amazon seller account. Follow the guidelines provided by Amazon to generate the appropriate barcode format for your products. 😊

The SAME FNSKU for all the different products?? That can't be correct. Did you mean something else? The FNSKU can't be the same on 20 different products that I'm selling. How would that work for identification and inventory purposes? Super confused about why you'd say that.

Each FNSKU will include the ASIN it is assigned to. So think of them as: ASIN - Product ID. FNSKU - Item tracking ID.

If you are an Amazon seller with FBA inventory and Amazon barcode enabled, each unit will have its own FNSKU. If you have any FBM (fulfilled by Merchant) listings, those will not have an FNSKU. It would depend on your fulfillment method.

You can register as a sole proprietor. You can choose "None, I'm and Individual" upon registration.

Yes! If you are selling FBA, your products will need the FNSKU code on the product, and you will use the UPC code to register the product in Seller Central
