The collets have a clutch in them. If you adjust it properly then you should not break taps. it will just slip.

Get yourself two sets of taps for powertapping. One set for blind holes, spiral fluted (all cutting action happening in the first 2-3 threads), and one set for through holes (all cutting action happening in the first 4-5 threads), like the yellow TiN coated one in the background, those have a diagonal cut at the tip, that's where all the cutting action happens, those diagonal cuts push the chip out the front. It's not about the coating, it's about the diagonal cut at the tip. If you ever need to do much tapping in aluminium there are special taps that look like they have lost several teeth in the back of the tap, that's to reduce the amount of tap rubbing against aluminium as taps for powertapping don't use those teeth to cut anyway. If you ever go beyond 10 tapped holes per minute you should start reading literature about tapping, some strange physics is going to happen where an increase in speed can double the lifetime of a tap.

From factory the torque collets need to be adjusted!! Adjust to lowest possible setting without slip Also, set the torque in the display to lower than factory default. It's too high. I've used mine for thousands of holes. It's fantastic Also, throw that hand tap away. Get spiral flute. The ones that push chip upwards for button holes. And the other that push chips downward for through holes. Else, see some of my tapping videos 😊 Best regards

My man.. yes these tools are great, really. We have one too and I love it. But please look into buying machine taps. They are way tougher, but a bit more expensive. They come in two basic styles, which differ in chip evacuation. The stiffer type pushes the chips through the hole, out the opposite site of the through hole, or deeper into the hole. The other pushes the chip out of the one opening of the blind hole. They tend to break easier in my opinion. The nice thing with machine taps: you don't have to peck. One and done, in and out. With this tool and proper machine taps you can have a 1/2" hole tapped in under 10 seconds. And btw, your machine is rated for 1 1/2" taps if I saw that right.

Small can or pop bottle with the top cut off an acid brush and no more squeeze can for your tap magic. Taping oil. The little fruit cups and jello cups are great for cutting oils, and the Lays potato chip tube lids fit right on them, i use then for wood glue But they would work in a machine shop too as long as they don't get hit with red hot chips. Its thin plastic its gonna melt and burn.

For emphasis, before hiring me, they had had more experienced machinists from other companies in the supply chain and a CNC teacher from local trade school to try tapping on that CNC and all of them came to the conclusions that it just wasn't going to happen on a machine that cheap 😆

Kinda depends on the project plans Going cnc how many parts, or just one off parts like a prototype If the plans are just on paper, it could cost more in time and labor the just tapping with this tool. If you have 10k parts to run a good cnc operator and tooling use the dam cnc it depends on the job your doing. I worked in a machine shop years ago the cnc back then had tape readers today its CAD programing doesn't take as long. You can make a lot more money with a cnc running 10k parts then stopping to load one part set up time isn't free.

@@bobbg9041 there's also a cost from having your machinist manually tap threads while the next work piece is in the CNC and have him get exhausted towards the end of the workday and quit the company sooner. Counting seconds is not optimization. It's consultants keeping themselves employed 😉 I would know. Used to be a machinist, I'm about to graduate from business administration 😁 To be fair, comparing to the status quo of things you're 100% correct, but that thinking has gotten us to a situation where pretty much every company makes more profit than ever, still believes they're constantly on the verge of bankruptcy, their only solution to it is screwing over their employees and then "no one wants to work anymore".

Look like a high speed bur grinder. Like can cut holes in bolts taps dies drill bits with diamond or carbide bits? OOOOOOOOOhh a fan-c tap drive, That bee doesn't look torquey enough for taps but thinking my mortar drill motor is smaller it makes sense. SERVO and choose tap speed ect NICE! Looks flim flammy but suitable for this job.

That was the worst math i have ever heard. I appreciate showing off the machine and thats great, but to say you can make 26500USD with it :))) which is the cost of those 2 entire machines (not just the cost of drilling the holes), thats is just silly math. Good video regardless.

i know it was a smartass comment to get your attention, but in all honesty, anything machine related is cool stuff. I watched a couple of your videos before this one. And by all means if you're trying to become a used machinery dealer that used youtube to market (which is how it appears) then kudos, I hope used machinery dealers never cease to exist. And not trying be a dick, but as someone that has bought multiple used machines, you would be better off diving deeper into discussing technical specs and demos rather than going about it from the approach of dumbing things down and claiming "how much money" something cost & much it COULD make someone else. I totally get the youtube algorithm stuff and trying to get peoples attention, but for actual potential machine buyers, I think you'd fare better with the more traditional approach that comes across as more of a seasoned machinist hitting the important qualities/condition of a machine quickly and with no gimmicky thumbnail, rather than the more "influencer" based approach your stuff comes off as. Personally, if I'm buying a used machine, I want the dealer/owner to know as much if not more about it than I do, rather than like they're just trying to sell me something. Like I said, not trying to be a dick, but just provide some feedback to help your future endeavors man. By all means if you could care less about this input, then feel free to delete my comment and stick to your guns. Will remain subscribed either way. @@prestigemanufacturing2611

anytime brother, one of these days, not anytime soon though, I will eventually be upgrading from my current cnc knee mill to a proper vmc, there will need to be alot of renovation to expand the shop tho first so I can move my surface grinder to my home shop from where I currently have it at my day job, and would like to get a decent manual lathe before the vmc. Long story short though, I'll add you to the list of used machine dealers I keep up with to see what you've got available when the time comes. @@prestigemanufacturing2611

“I believe” and “I want to say…” So the poor guy isn’t sure about anything. And he certainly can’t be blamed if you buy the machine and lose all of your money. He’s just not sure what will happen. I think.

SPIRAL POINT,SPIRAL POINT SPIRAL POINT.Tthrow them stupid harware store taps away. Buy good quality SPIRAL POINT TAPS. No tool and die maker woukd ever use the taps that you use. Even with the pecking option that you have,the tap would instantly explode if you tapped any kind of tool steel.Love your video but every time I see a you tubber use a hardware store tap ,I cringe.

Why use 'hand taps' for a mechanical operation? Just get spiral taps like the rest of the world and throw that dumb machine away.
@relicboxing
@relicboxing 7 месяцев назад
Wouldn't spiral taps work on that machine? And why should he throw it away? Is it unsuitable?
@patheron7812
@patheron7812 7 месяцев назад
If he just used spiral taps, he could tap with his mag drill while it was in position, just after drilling the hole. Much more efficient and intelligent. @@relicboxing
