High quality PCB Services pcbway.com In this video we are taking a look at the UNI-T UTG962 arbitrary waveform generator and I must say I’m surprised by the very good build quality and the selection of components that went into this test instrument. There are of-course limitations given the price of the unit but with those in mind I don’t think there is anything else on the market that does better so all I can say is that you need to order yourself one of these using the link below.

This "product", "instrument", "device" is actually function waveform generator...

Yep, but putting that in the title would eliminate the "click bait" that is there now. I wonder if the "seller" required it or even wrote the title? Even though the title wasn't very honest it was an OK review.

I have a Farnell (Multicomp Pro) branded 4-20mA simulator/calibrator which is a UNI-T device ... and it's full of software bugs that make it totally unusable in a live system environment (loop goes open circuit when manually adjusting the current through a number of points!) and neither Farnell or UNI-T want to know about it. I will be avoiding UNI-T based products in the future. V. Poor.

@@gamerpaddy Not so much the lack of earthing but crossing the primary-to-secondary isolation by what was called a "Y" capacitor (but of course wasn't really that) was the problem. That cap *coupled* mains onto the BNC's. The solution was to remove the cap and the BNC's no longer were "hot".

LOL, Picked up one a few months ago. Thought one channel broke after about a month, but found no hardware faults when comparing channels. A Software reset fixed the issue. Fault was very low output on one channel. Not had any issues since. Funny the Modulation button on mine is marked MODE. Wonder if they will provide a corrected button for that. Sine wave amplitude remains steady within a few percent across the whole frequency range. Just to emphasize: I'm just a very happy customer; no affiliation with the manufacturer or any vendor (look at my other posts here).

hello sorry to be a nuisance. but i am trying to evaluate the benefits / value of getting this product as a seperate signal gen. vs the ones which come with certain oscilloscopes. 1) Siglent SDS1104X-E and 2) rigol msu5072 / 'mso5000 series'. the thing is its not clear to me yet how they can compare to each other in reality. and for which specific type(s) of common practical lab situations. for example the siglent scope says it needs external hardware to work. well ok... but then how does that product compare? at least for the rigol mso5000, we can see clearly its just a software option, and the sampling rate specs are basically the same (25mhz / 200msps). however how many channels does the rigol give? only 1 channel or up to 4 channels? and does it matter, to need 2 channels of signal generator in lab situation? ... well can we have an example please, for when this will occur? i am just finding it hard, to weigh each option against the others. since being on such a tight budget it matters to me. because the cost of the signal generator is in fact shared with the same budget for getting the oscilloscope. IDK what to do now but i believe this situation and predicament is similar for many other people? *shrug* please let me know if anybody else here is familiar for this matters. or can briefly give other helpful example to help to paint the picture. many thanks

I would totally get a scope with built-in arb gen if it was within my budget. I would assume bench space is limited for most people so it would be an advantage to have a 2 in 1.
@jaro6985
@jaro6985 3 года назад
The rigol is a 2 channel output, you can see by looking at the front of the instrument. G1 G2. The first limitation you might run into is voltage peak to peak, I think its +/-2.5V or so. Its rare for most hobbyist to use more than 1 channel generally, but, any decent signal gen will come with 2 anyway. Although the second channel can be useful for say, precision voltage generator, just set it to DC. You can google these products and read the spec sheets. Its quite clearly laid out.

@raymonddompfrank1789

@raymonddompfrank1789
@raymonddompfrank1789 3 года назад
@@robbieaussievic I meant to say that by changing the output "Load" setting, nothing changes in the output impedance or voltage. You don't alter the output to 50Ω, 75Ω, or High Impedance. Only the amplitude *indication* on the LCD is changed, because the instrument assumes that you apply a load corresponding to the Load setting. Try it out.
@robbieaussievic
@robbieaussievic 3 года назад
@@raymonddompfrank1789 .... Thanks Mate, why does the waveform stabilize when I alter the channels load setting from 'High Impedance' to 50Ω ? eg. into a SD23252X-E
@raymonddompfrank1789
@raymonddompfrank1789 3 года назад
@@robbieaussievic Why? It's just a designer's choice for simplicity. A fixed output impedance is much easier to implement than a variable one. The different loads that you connect cause the output voltage to drop and the instrument knows how much because it "knows" its own output impedance (OI). If the OI is say 50 Ohm fixed and you set it to generate 1V, on a high impedance load you will see that 1V whereas on a 50 Ohm load, the voltage will halve. The voltage indication on the display will be half if you set the "Load" to 50 Ohm. If you leave it at High Impedance, it'll show twice the actual voltage on the display.
