I finally got one! I’ve needed this so many times, and I’m excited to put it to use. In this video Im focusing on this made in the USA tool from Ridgid, model E-110. This adjustable hex wrench has massive capacity with its huge jaw opening, yet it is compact and slim.

Great content as usual. In the pipe trades it's called a "spud wrench"

Hello again Brando Damo Thank you for another Great Video. Where did purchase this? As soon as you said it had a smooth jaw. I thought, it's just like my Ford Wrench. Although I think the angle of the jaw looks very interesting. Was this an Amazon buy? Again thank you

I got this one at a local hardware store, but you can easily get them on Amazon. It does have some similarities to a Ford wrench, except this one makes contact with three sides of the hex. I just used this today on a whole bunch of 1” brass fittings and valves and it was very secure with that third support. I liked it!

Knipex Pliers Wrench may be more practical for most applications, though may not be quite as compact for any given max jaw size.

I do love my pliers wrenches, the giant ones are a little hard to justify $-wise though!

@@BrandoDamo Yes they ain't cheap. Thanks for introducing me to Olfa and Tsunoda, we don't see them much here in Australia.

Aigo, havent heard about them. After seeing these wrenches I have a gut feeling that Aigo was a Craftsman OEM for wrenches. This would be in the late 70s -early 80s. Did Aigo make slip joint and waterpump pliers

Aigo did make water pump pliers, but I have no clue if they ever supplied craftsman.

That ridgid works great for chrysler\dodge\plymouth.. ball joints. They are not pressed in like other makers ball joints. They are screwed in. But require a special large 4 sided socket. With rounded corners. They have 3 sizes used on various vehicles from the late 60's\ early 70's. Until the early 2000's. Smaller cars take a small size. And trucks and vans take the biggest size. The sockets are sorta hard to come by. And actually many mechanics don't even realize that they are not meant to be pressed in and out. And do that anyways. But that can possibly not work and cause the ball joint to fit loosely requiring them then to be welded into the control arm. I was struggling with this years ago and had to wait for the special Chrysler sockets to come in the mail. When an older guy handed me this tool and told me to put a pipe on the handle and it would work perfect. He wasn't wrong! Worked great. Went right out and bought my own one of these wrenches soon after.

I'm new to this stuff. Will this grab a regular pipe as well? Thanks.
@BrandoDamo
@BrandoDamo 2 года назад
No it will not. It will only work on something with flats like hex fittings and square plugs. You will need a standard pipe wrench with teeth for pipe.

Worth mentioning maybe, you can also use an extension bar on the Knipex pliers wrench although not quite as easily You do need to squeeze the handles together to hold the wrench in place but once you apply torque you only need to load the upper arm.
@BrandoDamo
@BrandoDamo Год назад
Possibly. I don’t know if I’d trust that setup much though!

@BrandoDamo
@BrandoDamo Год назад
It’s awesome. I’m very glad I have it. I’ve used it a ton; sometimes with a pipe on the end. But you wouldn’t want it longer; it’s large jaw capacity along with its relatively compact size is what makes it shine!
