I built my base pretty much north-east of the sinkhole and straight up north of the cockpit on a cliff near the water. I'm constantly swarmed by hoards of cannibals and crocodiles. Best location ever. So many corpses to play with.

By your description, you may have built where I did. From the plane to the cockpit, then there are 2 cliffs separated by water, one side is snow, the other is grass. I built on the grass. Forever being swarmed by cannibals, so I'm never low on food ;)

3:34 Cannibals never go there, the only way they can get in is from the back beach behind the cliff. Super safe.

The best place to build is actually the grassy highlands on the hill ABOVE #5. They can enter from only 3 areas, two of which, if you build far enough down the hill, they won’t even notice you’re there is they pass by. Build a zip line with log catcher to the hill across north of the cannibal village and a crane coming up from the area in between those two hills, and you’ve got plenty of trees! A bit of extra work but once set up, it’s SO easy! Every animal except for boar spawns there, too, but boar is just north - another zip line solution!

I always build near the fifth location. I take over the little cannibal camp at that first fishpond. It used to get a few visitors after a while, but since they updated it a while back, it has been very quiet. A nice and peaceful place to build now, and it comes with cockpit views! Main base there, and little camps dotted around the place. My favourite camp spot is "Camp Anchorage" (at the big anchor) right on the beach. Plenty of action there and close to the cloth-spawning cave.

Second to last option is the best one. It 'feels' exposed, but even on the current version, I'm on day 9 and haven't even seen a baddie yet. Granted, I know where they are, and am careful to avoid them, but none of their patrols go through the area. So long as you don't draw them to you, you don't even need defenses. But, that does make armor and stuff a little sparse

I personally build two different bases in strategic locations. When one base is getting a lot of action I go to my other base until it gets lots of mutants. You can have these cannibals scratching their heads.

You should make a cliffside base on the 5th location on this video in season 3. I'm thinking about doing this myself, you can make a staircase type of build across the cliff, where each floor is next to eachother with staircases and/or walkways connecting them, with each of them being above the ground. Food for thought, Broadbent!

The first location is actually kind of bugged. Enemies rarely, if ever really patrol close enough to catch wind of your area. And even if mutants start wandering near by, they never seem to actually path correctly to the south side.

One I typically build is the connexes on the beach shore. Beach side so it has the turtles spawning in it and pelicans often fly there. The downsides is drinkable water is further away, trees are further away, and there can be some patrols that come through the nearby trees and a ritual area not far away. You do have some advantages as you can build a fire inside of the connex to prevent cannibals from seeing your fire. I've literally watched patrol groups walk past my base not even noticing I was even there! Because you are downhill, it's easier to see them from a good distance if they are towards the top and you won't be detected. The yacht isn't too far away wither and the key card cave REALLY close and the rebreather cave isn't too far away either.

The last location actually has a spot that's much better to the left up the hill from the path. It's an area that has a huge building space, it is the snow biome, but there's only a very small section where cannibals that jump can reach you. Very easy to defend.

I have to add to the location suggested by Echo. I have built in this location. I built my cabin in the lake coming off this area. And as you mentioned, I gathered all my logs from across the river to the south. I built a large raft to transport them to my lake cabin. I set up a small cabin on this side of the river to the south next to the cliff and used it to escape to when attacked. I call this my logging cabin. It is also great for gathering deer, rabbit, and lizards, as they spawn there constantly. This area is right near your first suggested location. I built steps up to that area which allow me to easily sneak around the large encampment. The area across the lake where I collected logs began seeing more cannibal activity the more I cleared it. I did not have tree regrowth on, so pretty much clear cut it. There is a path up to the large encampment where I set up a half circle of Happy Birthday traps and it was very helpful. I killed 11 in a single attack with only 2 getting through. I have been there 80+ days and my cabin has yet to be attacked and I have only seen a group of 3 cannibals in the area once.

0:00 and 3:08 is where we ended up setting up camp on the left-hand cliff there (that pond isn't a fish or clear water spawn btw). Patrols on the beach can sometimes find their way up the path to the top and be annoying, but it's very infrequent that they deviate from the beach. Platform with a zip line allows zipping over to the snow side for boars and as a very effective GTFO option, base spawns rabbits/lizards/rocks/blackberries/blueberries, there's clean water at the waterfall, fish/raccoons/deer at the lake across the field, and turtles on the beach (if you don't mind the risk of running into a pat).

YOU SHOULD MAKE A SERIES WHERE YOU BUILD IN THESE LOCATIONS AND SEE JUST HOW WELL THEY STAND UP IN A FEW CATAGORIES LIKE FOR INSTANCE 1.)DEFENCE 2.) EASE OF THE BUILD ETC. AND THEN YOU GIVE THEM A FINAL RATING IN THE END.

Oh shoot the forth one with the pond is where I’m currently building and I can vouche for him this is a pretty busy area, but I love the constant supply of food and water

Another great video! I personally have built at the 1st location and am currently building at the 5th location. While that 5th location is very open, there is only a little activity compared to other places but mutants do show up so a low rock wall is useful (plenty of rocks for that there). Another spot I really like is just over the cliff of location 1, between the cliff and the water. Have to get there quick and get a wall and traps set up quickly because you have 4 or 5 days before things get hot since it is right on a patrol route and very close to the large village.Thank you for all the great videos and can't wait for the next one.

@@carson4227 That plateau area is fairly quiet as far as cannibals and mutants. I only saw them there occasionally. The area below that along the river is a major cannibal route so if you are into fighting, that is the place to be. Across the river is the area called the land of plenty. A lot of the plants you need to make medicines with will spawn there along with deer, rabbit, lizards and fish in the pond.

You’re number one is actually where I’ve been building my new base. It’s got plenty of rabbits and lizards, cannibals are fairly scare and blue berries aren’t far over the top western ledge

I think the shark only comes around if you hang around in the water too long. My base is right on the beach by the giant driftwood and only beem attacked twice by the shark and im past day 100

i just started playing this game, and just naturally we found the 5th location. me and my brother is playing together, and we have set up bases on both sides, he has the north side, and i have the south side. i rarely get attacked, they do run around a bit at the beach. ive put on ziplines over so i can get tons of wood from it, and same for the brother. and also ziplines between us for fast travel. its really nice, and if we would want to we could simply build in the middle and that would defend the whole platue. really nice spot. an abundance of deer, raccoons, lizards. only tough nutter is the turtles who does not spawn as they like. but i would say if you want to build a zipline community, building it from the chasm cave (if thats what its called) would be the best. since you can run in and out for both rope and cloth =)

Any way i can submit a location? I have probably the #1 location on a multiplayer server that provides a constant food source, plenty of trees, and easy defenses as well as nearby caves.

I built my base directly opposite the yacht on that long beach that is opposite from the large hill with the single tree, bc I was a noob. however, I have only been attacked once, and it was by a lone Virginia. it is easily defendable and you can easily bail into the water or use a raft to get to the yacht bc I've had shark problems.

I made my base a bit north of your favourite spot. Right where the beach ends. Cannibals walk around in those woods rarely and when they do spot you they’ll stop chasing once you get back to base. They haven’t ever hit my wall and im on day 30

Lol same. Ours was at the Yacht beach. Couldn't even cut down trees without them jumping out of the treeline and when we were cowering in our cabin they would still walk down and start harassing us. Moving up to the peninsula with the tree across the way wasn't much better since we were dealing with the same pats...

Having just completed the game I don't think you need to bother with a base at all. I built one in the North West area, it took ages and I now hardly go there. All you need is to build a house boat and about 3-4 rafts. Moor the boat about half way up the coast up from the yacht, and use the rafts to get up and down to the various cave locations.

FBIJAMES Building is fun, and in game (before you complete, & get God mode, whatever etc) but can be a big waste of time. Me? I decided it'd be cool to fence a stretch of beach off both sides, it was round the coast West from the yacht, after the arch on the corner. Spent ages on that, log fence etc & an Armsy smashed the shit out of it!

Mine is #5 on the list and I have not seen a single cannibal there, but as he says in the video, trees are a big problem. I build my base right on the little waterfall that's between the two lakes. I do recommend for people that just want to build in peace

The 5th location. I have build there 2 bases 1in mp and 1 in singleplayer and i have never seen a cannibal there BUT once every couple days a armsy walks near the wall and walks on top of it and disappears but if you crouch it never sees you(hope i spelt that right)so its the best location for new players. Also the armsy shows up around 10th day survived so you have a lot of time to build a nice base cause ur not bothered by normal cannibals neither at night or day time

All these videos never seem to talk about the beach location right next to where you start the whole game... literally, next to the plane, you can walk forward till you get to a cliff you can navigate down. Down there is an open beach water on 3 sides and a cliff in front of you where nothing except for some animals can come. I built a house boat (bed inside), garden, meat rack etc etc down there, no defenses and it never gets attacked. I just built a zipline from the cliff face to get down there easy. Now i can explore or build in peace.

For number 5 , you said that it's very exposed. Well it is the case , but in fact , i have my base there , i have seen no Cannibals nor Mutants coming to my base in all of my playthrough. Also , the only thing you got to do is block the path to your base with a defensive wall , only one side , so there is only one side to defend.

2:58 It is a great beginner area BUT BE WARNED! there are two patrol routes on either side of you. One in the woods a crossed the river heading to the beach, another (very busy) one that runs by the tiny village and tents that then goes up the big hill there. You must make a small base, out of sight and in the right area. Or you will be harassed early on and constant. I made a bit too big and now that one busy patrol route can see me and always comes to say high. It seems easy with all the resources there but you can very quickly gain new friends you dont want if you draw a lot if attention. And yes, they will jump off that cliff and into your base. It will be raining cannibals all night... also Ive not experienced this but a lot of people claim that mutants spawn a lot up on that hill as well. Mostly Virginia.

Must have changed in a more recent update. I'll be building there (first time playing). They aren't supposed to jump down from cliffs, but they can jump from trees. Maybe I'll clear the trees up top and/or build a wall to prevent... erhm... aerial attacks.

#5 is a sh1t spot to build. Started building next too the upper ontop of thr ridge, after day 2 up there had a cannable drop by. Not even 10 mins after killing that one 5 or 6 more show up. Waited 6 days returned to find a gd army up there (4 by the lower pond, 3 or 4 in my base, 2 followed me up) and 3 muties down below near the camp. Gave up on that spot and now building a water base.

Place by the river, second to last on your list, is a terrible spot. Up on the ridge is Much better but still, whenever I hang out there too long, they send the Calvary at me

Ive started building on that ridge, its my all time fav location now, i use a crane to get up and have a door lock up top for any players i dont want coming up there. I use ziplines to get to large cannibal camp and one back to transport logs, perks about this location, plenty food as its near the fertile zone, turtles on beach, cannibal village has cloth rope (for ziplines)dynamite booze, katana cave nearby, climbing axe cave nearby, nose of plane, plenty fuel for chainsaw, cannibals do spawn up the top, but i walled it off i have plenty space for new players to build and never get attacked

Dara Ive only seen two small patrol routes. One closer to the tree line out of the snow area and one that goes around the lake. Im on day 45 and in other areas Im attacked a lot, but I built a base in the center of the snow lake, and all though they do come in huge numbers at night. They cant get me. I can stand there and shoot them dead or taunt them to go for a swim and drown. I have seen two armsys down under the small cannibal village on that river leading from the lake, but never a mutant in the snow areas, and even so, they cant reach me. In morning it quiets down enough for me to leave, hunt, gather things like sticks and rocks if needed, but then I can just chill at my base and just listen to the cannibals hit traps around the lake I set or scream in frustration at me. Only issues, there is no sticks around and to get more you will need to travel to rather hotspot patrol route areas. You are very exposed on that lake which means more and more cannibals will eventually come say hi, and its cold so a warm suit is a must, but really Ive been doing really well there.
