For any vehicle where you want great (and sometimes loud) sound but without the drone or annoying the neighbors in the morning, valved exhausts are a revelation. I have a Capristo with a remote control. Hit the button to open the valve and it sounds great even at lower revs. Switch to the closed position and it's very quiet, yet it has a little computer that will automatically open the valve above 3000 rpm if you really put your foot in it. Best of all worlds.
I don't have an overland vehicle but I really enjoy Brad's videos. He does a great job and I appreciate his enthusiasm for overlanding and taking care of the environment.
Hey Brad. I think we all have dreams of a post lift! A suggestion to make life on the creeper easier. Grab a pair of rhino ramps. They work great. Stable and safe. They’ll give you an extra 8 inches or so of room under the vehicle so you don’t feel so confined under there. 👍🏼
I hope I'm able to have a lift someday, but I'll look into those ramps. I had a pair I picked up from Autozone a few years ago, but they were terrible. Thanks!
Sounds good being from a Mustang background I’m a huge fan of magna flow. But I put MBRP exhaust on my bronco because of the cost. However I was super pleased with the deeper sound from the exhaust👍🏽👍🏽
Are you concerned at all about the mode selector on the Bronco being completely electronic vs the Jeep where it is manual? My understanding is if it fails on the bronco it defaults automatically to 2WD. Not a good scenario if you are out on the trail when it breaks.
Anyway you would like to let us know what vehicle you like best. Ford or jeep ?? Chevy needs to get in the game and make a blazer convertible they are always last time the party but when they get there it’s usually a show stopper but I’m sure they’ll never do a topless Chevy blazer
It's tough to beat the 392, but both vehicles fit different needs I think. Agree 100%, the Blazer could be a great vehicle if done right. The current one just looks like another mom mobile.
GM loves nothing more than to completely miss the mark. The Wrangler, Bronco, and 4Runner are printing money. Their manufacturers sell every one they build for full price and even have a waiting list. GM's response to the ultra-hot 4x4 market? A $100k 9000lb electric Hummer and the once-storied Blazer name slapped on a restyled Equinox. They could have easily engineered a removable roof 4x4 SUV on the Colorado frame like Ford did with the Ranger.
What does MagnaFlow claim on the performance gains? I see the Flowmaster American Thunder axle back kit claims gains of 19 Hp and 19 lb-ft. with their Outlaw axle back kit claiming gains of 15Hp and 16 lb-ft. in the 2.7L
And just how many "mechanics" words did you have to use that we didn't hear?? (grin) Hard acceleration it sounded like a throaty race car, but like you said at 65 just cruising it sounds nice and quiet. Now for the BIG question..... What does Regena think of the sound? Until next time... Travel safe.
... earlier when I watched it, that was the first thing I caught. Yes, those are Flex Era 4's. I went with the Flex Era 3's at the A-pillars + Gravity Pro 6 bar at roof-line.
You removed 10lbs.....just like childbirth but your Bronco improves when your done, childbirth just wrecks everything. Did they ship it in a shoe box? They cut it up into tiny pieces. Are you going to weld it back together? All of the clamps tend to come loose, the one on my Camaro and saleen mustang both loosened up and ended up dragging the ground. Aren't aftermarket exhaust systems illegal in California without the old one being declared unserviceable?
Is there any drone at 65+ speeds? I have a 2-dr 2.7 badlands and looking to add more rumble…don’t mind having it louder during aggressive acceleration but trying to avoid any cat-back kits with noticeable droning.
I really enjoy your videos and I have often wondered, with all the miles, dirt and mud you put your vehicles through, how do you keep them so clean? when you are back home, what is the process you use to clean your vehicles from top to undercarriage
I was surprised how good the stock exhaust sounded. It's not fantastic, but its a lot better than I would have thought. The magnaflow is definetely an improvement though, I have one on my 4Runner and I LOVE it. You get some aggressive sound but no drone. I used to have a Flowmaster exhuast, which sounded awesome, but with all the highway driving I do, I couldn't stand the drone. Looking forward to what comes next on the Bronco.
I have built a 2021 f-150 for my little brother with the 2.7l in it and I will till you doing 3" down pipes with race cats is where the real power and sound adder is on this engine. Ford loves to coke the exhaust on their engines. The build as it is right now is 3" down pipes into race cats then merge into 4" exhaust with an axle dump. Blow off valve conversion and CAI and a 5 star tune. Making about 480 at the wheels and if he keeps his foot out the gas makes about 18-19 city and @75mph will easily hit 24mpg. Next on his list is the intercooler, cold and hot side pipes, and inlet feed pipes for the turbos. Once we have that done we can turn the boost up to over 25 psi and have some real fun. Truck is fun to drive but nothing will have to pucker up like braking the tries loss at 60mph when you WOT on the interstate HAHA. Love the build
The engineering and typical modern Ford designs are ugly. No thanks I will stick to Jeeps or Toyota's.Have fun if you decide to dig into suspension mods.
I know my hearing is not great from my long years in the Marine Corps, but i could slightly hear a difference, not much, but it did sound a bit better.
I think you missed a great opportunity to mess with your wife start it up with nothing on and see what she says about the sound and make her believe that’s the end result
Yuss more Bronco mod vids... all about it. I've considered an exhaust option but power-wise it's a very minimal improvement over OEM and I'm not sure a little sound difference is worth the $1k+ ish to me? Still feels more glam/fashion buy than a practicality move. I've kind of put it off, in my head, to when I need a new exhaust... then it's a good play but... idk... haven't sold myself on this upgrade yet. Being in Arizona I need to put my money into clearance right now... big rocks everywhere. Cheers Brad, can't wait for the other Bronco vids
Here’s me thinking your Bronco is going to sound great, l was disappointed when l realised it wasn’t a V8. A Bronco isn’t a “real” Bronco without a V8. Your new exhaust sound is just a little bit better than the stock system though. What motor is in your Bronco?
The Bronco does sound better than before. I would like you to compare it with the 392. BTW. Did the new exhaust on the bronco improve anything else besides the sound? Thanks for your content, as always it is great information and entertaining.
Piece of advice , next time , get some heat resistant manifold tape , put a layer on the inside fitting pipe at each joint , it will seal completely and rust on the joints will not impede you as much getting it apart. Also as far as putting the studs into the rubber hangers , use a C clamp when compressing against 90 degree angles.
Simple advise from an old aviation mechanic: But a tube of high-temp anti seize and apply it to the bolt threads on your exhaust system before reinstalling. Much easier to remove/replace next time. Although you have more spare bolts and nuts than Frankenstein!
I have a question for you, i noticed your bronco has BFG all terrains even the trailer… just bought a zr2 and looking for a good set of tires to upgrade to and im not sure what to get. I want something that will last, and yet something good off road even in the mud but not nessisarily strictly a mud terrain as they dont last as long. I was looking into rough terrain tires as well. What is your tire of choice
Thanks for the vid! My consensus on aftermarket exhaust system videos are that they are very difficult to translate over video footage. I'm sure that there are several factors effecting this outcome. Nevertheless, for this type of application the benefits I can see with this are maybe in weight reduction and extra clearance. Most modern vehicles, including high performance vehicles, have very quiet OEM exhaust systems and/or are governor-limited to rev their engines beyond a set RPM when at a standstill. I can probably get on-board with having a little bit extra tone over the stock set-up, but not much more over that. I don't think I would want a very loud exhaust on my off-road capable daily driver, but that's just me.
But really in an off road vehicle you want a quiet exhaust, especially if you're hunting. More wildlife. This also means side by sides, razors, dirt bikes.
This is exactly the reason I've always been hesitant to put an exhaust on my old jeep jk and my new bronco. Might consider putting one on if I find good valved exhaust I like.
Wish we had this vehicle here in Australia, I'm sure it would sell very well. I remember the old style Bronco based on the F.100, my father, myself and brother all worked at the Ford plant. I remember my father bringing home the 351ci Ford Bronco, wow that was a beast. Love the sound Brad. Great vid, all the best from Down Under. 🚙👍
Brad, great channel and content. I need your advice being a Jeep and Bronco owner. I am on the fence on gas mileage between a 4 cilinder or 6 cilinder Bronco. I will use it everyday in the city, and sometimes (every 3 months) off road. Which one would you recommend and my concern is that the 4 cilinder will be a gashog due to the weight of the chassis and tires.
If youre going sasquatch then 2.7. though the 2.3 is not bad with 35s and the 4.7 gears on the squatch. If youre going to run 33"s or less, the 2.3 will give you the best real-world mpg and will perform great. I work in power train/nvh testing and development at Roush/Ford. Ive driven quite a few Bronchi 🤣. I also have a sasquatch OBX 2.7. I get 18-19mpg on trips 70mph and 19-20mpg 65mph. Mid grade fuel.
