Since it has been said in multiple places so far... Yes you can use non-leather or rubber stones on black steel. This stone is a ceramic steel that is specifically made to be used on black steel.

when I first got my VH skates, I laced them up all the way and tied little knots on the ends of the laces. This prevents them from slipping out when putting them on and having to try and squeeze them through. works well for me.

When my skates are new I paint the claw teeth part of the rivets on the inside of footbed in addition to removing the insoles after every skate. I use shoo goo or fingernail polish to protect the bare metal of the rivet from moisture.

Can keep the laces in the top two eyelets if you just use a slightly bigger lace!

Great idea. I do that on my shoes.

I’d recommend using the leather “stones” for steel that has any type of coating. The normal stones will wear off the coating. I only use them if it’s a pretty bad chunk

These are ceramic stones, and are fine for the "good" coated steels.

I agree, definitely something to be aware of. I have seen many formerly coated blades where the deburring stones took most of the coating off over time. This is also mentioned in the Sparx machine manual. I have a special one for coated steel but don’t remember the material. Maybe it is ceramic.

@@phuesler This one is ceramic and made for the coated steel...

@@HockeyReviewsgum/rubber stones are what you should be using on DLC coated steel. That's per Howie's and Step

After taking out your insoles I wipe out the space under insoles and holder riverts outside. Also wipe steel

I’ve had issues with my Trues since I’ve gotten them loosening then down to the third eyelet but I’ll definitely try sticking my finger back there when I put them on tomorrow! Thanks for the tip!

I tried yesterday to remove the insole but it's really glued to the skate...bauer vapors goalie skates. also what do you think on the lace hack where you make a kinda loop and then cross the lace within that loop?

Thanks for all the content and the discount codes~!. Got my sons some of the anti cut socks you recommended and man are they good. My question today is for me I need/want new gloves, you recently gave good reviews to the Warrior alpha pro gloves the CCM FT6 pros and the Pro stock Sherwood's from Hockey stick man. if you had to give the nod to one of these over the other 2 what would be the winner in your opinion? all good gloves all feel good to me in the store I cant decide tbh and gloves are a very important long term purchase as you know. an y feed back is appreciated.

I think the palm and price plays a big part in this (as well as the colours). I love my Sherwoods because they are retro Devils, but I prefer the palm of the other gloves more. But if you want a more durable palm the Sherwood might be the better option, and if you use the code you'd get the Sherwoods for even cheaper through HSM. Overall I'd probably select the FT6 Pro if I money didn't matter, but the Sherwood are a better value.
