You're doing too much. A short film. Shot with the Fujifilm X-T5.
Late nights, tough clients, burnout, impostor syndrome. We're hard on ourselves-often working multiple jobs or between jobs to progress in an unforgiving industry.
This video is for those of us who push ourselves too hard.

I had the same feeling. You love your life, your job and you appreciate what you have, but at the same time you feel behind and exhausted. I figured out for myself this state is a state of a burnout. Instead of doing more things to feel less behind I had to stop doing things instead. And not only stoping but letting me feel unguilty of this. For a few weeks I just told no to many things arguing with myself that I am just have no resources for this. Since then my resource is getting back and I feel capable of doing not all the things, but things that are important for me. To say yes to important things, you have to say no to other things. You say no not because something is not worthy, but because you value things differently than others and being yourself is not what you have to be guilty of

I love your insights. Thanks for this comment! I’m glad to hear you’re starting to feel like you have more to give after resting. Burnout is really tough to deal with and I think sometimes it forces us to just stop for a while even though everything within is telling us to keep going.

Feel this. Main job, side job, side side hustle lol, plus toddler twins to care for, my dog needs lots of exercise and whew. It's a lot. But grateful for it all, like you. Also struggle with rest vs. wanting to do All The Things and being frustrated I don't have enough time in each day to do all the things... Great video and well said. Here's to trying to figure out rest...!

I feel this completely. I have 3 jobs which span over 65 hrs/week of work. I run my own artist collective on the side and try to get out and shoot street photography on my one day off if I can… it’s exhausting but I love my life. I love being busy and my careers are fulfilling and joyful. I just need to take more time away from everything every quarter and re evaluate the sustainability of my life. Some of the best books were written by authors on vacation. I have my own channel where I shoot street photography in Vancouver, Canada. Sending you health & happiness from Canada Chris!

Thanks for your comment! I love Vancouver and was there earlier in the year a couple of times. So glad this video is reaching other busy creators and resonating. We all push ourselves so hard, and heading all these stories is confirmation of that

Keep up the work mate. I have a full-time job as well, juggling multiple things in parallel, who knows if anything will stick but hopefully so.

For me, what has worked best to avoid this feeling is to slow down and do longer stays, staying one month per place, and trying to maintain some routines that stay the same from place to place.

That's awesome! I always love hearing from other folks who travel full-time. For me, I almost feel like I need more than a month sometimes. But no matter how long I have, it's tough to shake the feeling that I'm on a 'trip' and I need to maximize my time and see as much as possible. I've found it difficult to just sit and chill some nights after work like I would if I were home, even if I do have a month or more.

I'm loving my RU-vid recommendations recently, it's just been smaller channels with so much potential 😅, keep it up. I'll subscribe lol

Watching this while taking a break and feeling exhausted. I've lately shifted to a complete focus on creating and am constantly switching between photography, design, cooking, and DJing. For the first time I'm actually getting a sense of what it's like to feel drained from having output so much of yourself.

It takes so much energy to do everything we have to do just to survive and pay the bills. Then trying to chase all the other creative pursuits and ideas on top of it can become overwhelming fast.

Nick this was a pleasure to watch and hear. Right up there with Fuji's X Stories series.

Beautiful video, i feel the same. I recently started to feel terrible that I didn't have time to continue producing RU-vid videos (at a rate of 2 a week) because of other creative work commitments getting in the way - but now I realize that I don't want to put out shit content just to post content, i'll take my time and deliver the best product i can instead of trying to rush myself into doing something just cause. I love my life, but there's no need to burn myself out.

Exactly! So glad to hear you had that realization. Now the challenge is actually taking the time to rest haha.

I'm a design student in my 1st year and I have 1 external internship, 1 part time job as a content creator for a restaurant, 1 small side business and currently am stressed with the ongoing assignments. There are so many things going on in my life and these days I've been wondering why is my work pace not as same as before. I currently turned 18 this year and I don't know if this is a way of me telling myself I'm having a burnout or whatsoever but it really is tiring. I can't fathom how much this relates to me, I want to rest but my body is telling myself I'm lazy, I'm not productive. I felt like I'm not getting work done. I do know we need the rest sometimes, but as you said, my brain tells me otherwise. I hope I can accept the fact we do need the rest sometimes without feeling guilty about it..

A friend in LA this year taught me this- We think we haven’t worked enough to deserve rest when really we haven’t rested enough to do our best work. It really resonated and maybe it’ll help you too. I’m not perfect and I push myself too hard sometimes, but we’re all learning!

The bit rate from the XT5 just seems so low. It looks so pixelated and blocky at times.

For a photo first hybrid, I’d say it’s pretty solid. I also have most of my video settings turned down as I’m still trying to find the right quality:file-size ratio. Honestly though, I’m more of a photographer and I’d never expect a hybrid body to deliver cinema camera results.

It's not the XT5 entirely. It's either the in-camera settings, export settings, and/or youtube compression. I have the XT5 and it captures ridiculous quality even on the the Regular Non HQ 4K. I also have a Canon R6 to compare so it's definitely not the cameras.

Such a horrible view out your room. New york seems like such a depressing place. And i don't mean the video quality. Honestly i would move. I cant imagine being inspired in that space.
@gunairy
@gunairy 9 дней назад
I can see why you’d think that way. New York certainly isn’t for everyone. The reality is, I was hardly ever home because there is so much to see and the best coffee shops and breweries and restaurants walking distance from my front door. Not to mention the rooftop that looks out at the Hudson and the Washington Bridge. This place also had a huge kitchen and washer and dryer in the apartment which is unheard of, and the owners were art collectors which meant the entire place was like a gallery, including my room which held the bookshelves containing most of their art book collection. It’s just a matter of perspective and what’s right for each person. I’ve never understood the urge some people have to tell me how much they’d hate living where I do. I’ve gotten it from my older family members who live in smaller towns and cities for years haha
