Welcome to the new "You're Icing Wrong!" series where I will take you on an in depth dive into the world of Icing your kicks to keep them as crisp as possible, as long as possible.
.
.
It's no secret that I only have a few videos on my channel that have any sort of "substantial" viewership and it turns out, the top three videos on my channel have all been dedicated to ICING your kicks. What I'm going to be doing is going WAY more in depth on the best ways to ice your sneakers and in doing so, I will be trying to find the answer to the question...
WHAT IS THE BEST SOLE SAUCE?!
With numerous sole sauces on the market at this point in time, there are plenty of different options. A lot of people swear by the hair product Salon Care 40 Volume Creme. Some sauces claim to be the best, others seem to be merely repackaged Salon Care 40 Volume Creme.
.
BUT-- there has never been a definitive answer... That is until now!
.
Follow my journey as I take you through an entire series battling different sole sauces against Salon Care 40 Volume Creme to see which sole sauce is the KING of sole sauces?!
.
.
In the first episode, I battle Salon Care 40 Volume Creme (our constant/test subject) against Angelus Sole Bright (the competitor, the variable) to see which product worked better to bring some life into a pair of Adidas Yeezy 350 V2 Beluga 2.0.
.
.
Let me know what you think in the comments below! If you have any products that you want to see tested, definitely feel free to mention them and I will look into purchasing some!

Thank you, I learned so much from your video- I was icing wrong!! I was only leaving the SoleBright on the sole for 6 hours (b/c of website instructions)- I'll be leaving it on for MUCH longer w the indoor setup. Thanks!

No doubt! I personally do all I can to squeeze every bit of cost out of the bottle lmao. One thing I would most definitely keep an eye on when you leave it for longer is temperature-- make sure that it doesnt get *too* hot otherwise, the heat could potentially damage the shoes and no one wants that! Also, keep your eyes open for traction loss. I typically find less traction loss with sauces specifically formulated for sneakers, but other products (such as salon care and even sometimes sole bright if I'm careless) will lead to some traction loss. Now with wear and friction on rough surfaces, this traction loss will typically be reversed but it is one thing to keep an eye on glad that my videos could help!!

Thanks for your vid. It was exactly what I was looking for. Previously I purchased the Fab sole sauce and it took him 2 weeks to ship it and we’re in the same state. A mix up with the address and it was returned to sender. So I was looking for an alternative and I found these two cheaper products and I couldn’t decide which one to try. I was going to buy both since two bottles of them would still be cheaper than the $40 Sole sauce 16oz. I tried to purchase. Your vid was exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Bro I love this video it's so well done and informative. I've recently got into the sneaker game. Your video has been very helpful. So my issue so far is I've not been able to find the optimal sun spot to permeate the Sole bright (haven't found an outdoor spot that stays sunny for 3-4 hrs) . Noticed that you have your own improvised controlled "sun box" id love some tips on how to how to do that. As you know that can mean everything to this Process.

Great explanation!thanks for running the experiment & all of the little notes you dropped through out. I recently replaced plastic wrap with disposable shower caps & it’s been really nice. The tension band essentially seals the shoe for you. I also started concentrating the SC40 in my crockpot. I don’t have a way of measuring the concentration afterwards, but I reduce it to half. It is POTENT!

@gary.richardson
@gary.richardson Месяц назад
The yellowing is oxidation that works from the surface and down through the layers. Essentially, the spray works quick on plastics but you have to move relatively fast to wipe off. I would suggest several approaches to apply/remove procedures since shoes are more elastic than lenses and has crevices and texture as opposed to a smooth finish. If the rubber loses some of it's hardness from long application then an epoxy hardener may reverse any melting.

CCK is my personal favorite out of the 12+ sauces I’ve tried over the years. I have not used salon care 50 due to not having a license to be able to obtain it. NuAntidote is my go to for cleaning and beginning the icing process then I generally use a specific sole sauce on pairs that need additional icing beyond what the NuAntidote can do.

Hey brother. Thanks for all your content! Does the yellowing come back faster after this method and what method do you currently use if your still brightening soles? Thanks
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
Thanks for watching, Dang! In my personal experience, yes, yellowing will come back quicker than it originally did after icing. It’s important to remember that as soles/shoes get worn down in general, the damage and grime that they accumulate will certainly build up and cause for the shoes to appear older/more worn much more quickly than they originally did. While I don’t know with 100% certainty why this happens, I would theorize that after wearing the shoes, the materials become more porous after wear, allowing more chemicals/grime into the actual surfaces of the shoe and therefore accelerating how quickly the shoe actually is affected by oxidation. Again, this is only a theory, but this does seem to happen with a lot of surfaces in general- as the surface wears down, it creates more pores for junk to get into. An EXCELLENT example of this is with dabbing, if you’re familiar at all. A quartz banger will “Chaz” over time as the quartz surface becomes more porous allowing for the oils to penetrate into the quartz and causing it to become more dirty, more quickly. As far as deyellowing soles, the process that I show in this video is the exact process I follow on a regular basis. The only difference is I’m very selective with my sauce. I personally use CCK sole sauce for pairs that come in for restoration work and personal pairs. I typically only use other sauces to create content and/or if I’m testing a new sauce I’ve never tried before. This specific method of application has treated me very well though and I tend to stick with it!!

Yes 8 seems very short to me; I try to go until right before the sauce is totally evaporated/dried out. I’m going to be switching to 24 hour sessions for the next series but I’ve had good luck with 48 hours. Many sauce distributors say don’t go beyond 24 hours though.

Awsome video bro! I have this problem with all ultraboost shoes... I don't have an ice box, i live in a country where is now 45°,in a month is minimum 50° to 60°:) Can i leave them outside for some time? And can i do same thing with the cage, where are shoelaces, to unyellow them on ultraboost 21?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
thank you so much for the support on the video!! So when you say 45-60*, is that in F or C? One of the main things that you must be careful of is EXCESSIVE heat. You can certainly use sunlight, and usually because of the strength of the UV from the sun, you will achieve results MUCH more quickly. However, if you leave the sneakers in high temperatures for too long, it can cause deterioration of other parts of the shoe (the glue and paints) and can cause warping of materials of the shoe. If you're talking about temperature in C... I would recommend shorter sessions, maybe 20-30 minutes at a time to avoid damage to the shoes. if you're talking degrees in F, you can leave them longer without fear, maybe 4-5 hours (or even longer) would work. The important thing is keeping an eye on your sneakers when you are using sunlight to avoid any damage from the heat. As far as the cage and the shoelaces, this is not something I typically recommend as most sauces are damaging to materials other than rubber. There are some de-yellowing products that are safe for use on a variety of surfaces such as NuAntidote that I recommend for generalized cleaning and de-yellowing purposes. For what it's worth, the de-yellowing of the boost was something that I didn't know would happen when I made this video. I was more focused on the results on the sole. Because of this, I cannot guarantee that this process will work on all boost material and I do not know how safe these materials are for boost products. I usually recommend this icing technique only for rubber surfaces that have yellowed.

thank you! I'm honestly insanely excited for this series, I think it's gonna be dope. I want to elaborate on it more in the future but for now, until I've done all the products I have, I'm going to have to continue in this fashion for continuity. Don't worry! The exploration and experimentation is NEVER done
@ianrestores
@ianrestores 2 года назад
Great in depth video but I think the results were a little inconsistent. Although it's the same pair, the left shoe has much deeper yellowing than the right shoe. So I wouldn't say angelus sole bright is better than salon care 40 because of it. I am looking forward to more of this series however. I want to see comparisons with salon care 50 and also CCK. I've used CCK and it works great but it's expensive so I stick with salon care 40 for costs. One other suggestion would be to put side by side pictures throughout the process so we can see the differences.
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 2 года назад
appreciate the comment, and I would say that's a fair assessment, the left shoe did seem to be a bit more yellow to begin with. What I would counter is that the results achieved on the right shoe seemed to happen more quickly and I think that overall, the difference was more remarkable from beginning to end on the right shoe so I would personally still give angelus the SLIGHT edge (although I agree, that could 100% be challenged). CCK is DEFINITELY on deck, I have a bottle that I'll be working with soon. Salon care 50 I would love to try, just need to find out how to get my hands on a bottle! I can understand the use of salon care 40 for cost reasons- I think that it is easily worth the cost, especially when you can achieve some amazing results. I appreciate the suggestion of the side by side comparisons! I am beginning to do that and I think I actually did do that for episode 2 so stay tuned! I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you for tuning in, I really do appreciate the support on the channel and constructive ideas!

that's a great question. My light only shines as a purple/pink color but I don't think that color is the most important factor; I think the overall exposure to UV and appropriate wattage are the more important factors. It all depends on the temperature and age of the shoes! Remember, the more heat exposure, the more breakdown of the original materials and bonds will occur (IE higher likelihood of sole separation due to heat breakdown of the glue). If it’s cool, you can leave them out several hours. If it’s hot, then you may want to limit sessions to 30 minutes at a time; all depends on the temp!!

@@SailboatSupplies So I can use the sole bright on the midsoles of yeezy 350 right?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 9 месяцев назад
it depends on what you consider to be the "midsole". Traditionally, outsoles are the outer rubber portion of the shoe that provides traction and midsoles are the section of the shoes between the outsole and uppers that provide cushioning. Technically, the midsole of a yeezy 350 is enclosed; the boost material is technically the "midsole" and the rubber, grooved "outsole" wraps around the "midsole" (much like a jordan 1). as you may be able to see from this video, I actually did utilize the sole sauce on ALL of the rubberized material (AKA the outsole wrapping around the midsole). For shoes with a 'more traditional midsole' (think AJ4, AJ3, Air max 1, air max 90/95/97) I would 100% not recommend using sole sauce. ANY type of sauce will be too corrosive and will chew through the paint of the midsole and even worse, the material of the midsole (depending on what the midsole is made of). Some kicks, such as a Jordan 11, may be able to withstand the corrosive nature of sole sauce. because of this, I use sole sauce exclusively with rubberized materials on shoes (AKA only the outsoles) @@timmytishaukkie5257

What do you recommend for someone who doesn’t have a ice box setup? Is all the steps the same except for the ice box?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 10 месяцев назад
More or less, yes! You want to follow the same process as far as sauce application and cleaning between sessions. The major difference is length of session. Outdoors, it is MUCH more difficult to control temperature. Prolonged sun exposure could potentially lead to heat related damage and sole separation so be very careful icing in hot weather and make sure to reduce time of your sessions! (sometimes, only 15-30 min will be necessary with the sunlight)

I think the inside midsole may have gotten yellowed due to heat from the uv light and not having enough cooling/ventilation. Any suggestions on how to rescue to yeezy creams midsole? Do you recommend using bloom or veg on grow light or both for the midsole?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
i'm a bit confused by what you mean by "inside midsole"... I have never heard that term before. Do you mean the boost that is encapsulated by the rubber sole? do you mean the rubber that curls up onto the sides of the shoes? I have never heard of heat causing additional yellowing to occur. I cannot speak from personal experience either. This theory is something that I would need to test or see experiments done with. in order to help to rescue the midsole, I would need to see what part you are considering to be the "midsole" as the TRUE midsole on an adidas yeezy 350 is different than a "traditional" midsole my UV light does not have different settings; it is extremely basic. I do not know enough about the differences between the different light cycles and cannot speak on this intelligently other than theorizing that either should work if the wattage is appropriate.

You can always try just leaving them under temperature controlled UV light for prolonged periods (5-6 straight days). Mine is also 1200W. As far as keeping it in your indoor ice box, it all depends on the results you are trying to achieve. Most people cycle at 24 hours. I find that my sauce tends to stay hydrated well enough over 48 hours as long as my temperature is well maintained and the sneakers are well sealed with plastic wrap. Usually, shorter sessions are utilized in an outdoor Icing situation where the UV from the sun will be stronger and the temperature will be higher. A lot of people swear by 24 hours but I always feel that if my sauce is still hydrated and doing the job, I am able to ice for a full 48 hours. I would recommend experimenting a bit and seeing what works best for you but usually 24-48 hours in an indoor set up is appropriate.

If you get sauce on yeezy uppers, don't just wipe it. You must dilute it with water and rinse it out. Otherwise the minute it gets uv rays it'll start to lighten. I've learned by accident by making that mistake. Boost 350s are annoying to deoxidize because of the fabric. It's very easy to have it leak through with the rinsing in between ice sessions. Be very careful.

Question : when you ice your soles and they come back to life, does the ice start wearing off when you aren’t wearing them or the ice should start wearing off the more you wear your shoes because I just got my shoes iced and they are turning back yellow at the bottom not even a month in having them iced and they’ve been sitting in my closet the whole time I never wore them since I got them iced, so does that mean the sole source was weak?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
it could mean a number of things. The sauce may not have been high quality, the storage conditions may not be ideal, the sneakers may just be very old, poor previous care of the sneakers, etc. There are dozens of considerations when it comes to how iced a sneaker will become and how iced it will stay. Based on the given information, I suspect several things. 1) poor quality sauce used. 2) shoes were taken out of the ice box when color had gone and did not get continuous exposure to UV with fresh sauce even after color had improved and therefore, effects did not penetrate as deeply into soles as desired. 3) poor storage conditions. it's hard to say WHY specifically but those are my theories. Remember, icing is certainly not going to last forever and sneakers will naturally yellow after being iced (even more quickly than they originally yellowed) BUT that being said, I normally expect a longer lasting result

@SailboatSupplies

On dunks, you can utilize the same icing process; you just need to be really careful to not get sauce on the uppers. Many times, I will place the sneakers soles DOWN rather than soles up when I ice if I am just doing the mid soles so that the sauce doesn’t even have the chance to drip onto the uppers. You can use a wire rack or something to suspend them above the “floor” of the ice box. If you don’t want to risk it yourself, you can always source out the work to a restoration artist that will do it for you! This is a service that I offer as a matter of fact. Yes, you should NOT be using sauces on these types of materials. Sauces should be used on RUBBER components of sneakers. Sauce can cause damage to non-rubber components of sneakers and can damage mesh, leather, canvas, and other materials of the uppers. @SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
48 straight hours. If you have a well ventilated, temperature controlled environment, you can keep them in the ice box longer without fear of damage, specifically sole separation. Sole separation and sneaker damage occurs at high temperatures that break down bonds and cause warping of materials. If you do not have a temperature controlled environment, I would recommend less time. This is especially true with direct exposure to HOT UV rays (such as those from direct sun). I maintain my ice box in a well ventilated closet that also gets direct A/C access so the closet never reaches temperatures above 80*F

@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 3 месяца назад
There are a number of different factors that will affect how long a deyellowing lasts such as: which sauce was used, storage of the sneakers, how much you wear them, the environments in which you wear them, and general care. Sneakers that are stored dirty, worn regularly on different surfaces, and not well cared for will turn back yellow more quickly. Older sneakers will generally return to yellow more quickly as well. Results may vary substantially depending on age, materials, wear, care, storage, and more.

How many hours under sunlight, if you don't have an ice box?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
Very dependent on several factors: 1) temperature (want to avoid too hot to reduce chances of damage to the sneakers and to reduce risk of sole separation). 2) overall level of sunshine- what season is it? That will determine how far the sun is and UV exposure. How’s the weather? Is it cloudy or completely clear? 3) what part of the world are you in? This in part determines temp and distance from sun 4) how able are you to check up on the kicks? I would recommend being able to check up on them every 30 min to ensure no damage is occurring. I know some people that will have results in as little as 30 min and others who are in cooler environments that will leave them out 4-6 hours. It’s highly dependent though.

What to do if u get salon care 40 on suede by mistake ?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 2 года назад
great question. Suede is a tricky material that deserves delicate care. while I have not run into this issue myself, I would imagine you would want to be gentle with your cleaning, as is recommended on any suede material. I would recommend first DABBING the sauce off. Use a paper towel or something very absorbent to get off as much of the sauce as possible without rubbing it in or spreading it on the suede. I would personally then let it dry all the way, in front of a fan. I would want it to dry as much as possible as quick as possible to avoid lengthy exposure to the sauce; increased length of exposure=higher chances of damage I would then clean the suede using a LIGHT/SOFT BRISTLE BRUSH. A hog hair brush may be a good option (although is not the only option). I would use a suede eraser (or synthetic suede eraser, depending on the material composition) and "buff out" the area. After working it out this way, I MAY (and I use MAY meaning I would practice this with EXTREME care and caution, if at all) I MAY use a SLIGHTLY damp cloth to try to rinse/wash out any of the remaining sauce. There are other, better suede cleaners than just water (NuLife kicks makes a great product but it also has a learning curve to getting the care down pat) and I use liquid as sparingly as possible on suede. After cleaning the suede with an eraser again, after letting the suede dry 10000000%, I would use a brass bristle brush to reknap the suede and bring back the original luster. Suede is a tricky material to clean in its entirety and is best left to DRY cleanings when and if possible. The most important thing is to remember to remove as quickly as possible and avoid overexposure. You can always tape off the uppers if you think the sauce will definitely run.

Not USUALLY the case, but it can happen. All sneakers will naturally age and yellow with time. Depending on the condition prior to icing, the amount of wear before icing, the age of the shoes, the storage condition of the shoes, the types of environment the shoes were previously worn in, and the amount of wear after icing will all play a role in how quickly the shoes will yellow. It is not uncommon for shoes to turn yellow more quickly than they originally did after an icing session however, it should take much longer than a single week

Most likely angelus uses a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide in their sole sauce. Because that’s all 40 developer is. 12% hydrogen peroxide
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
Totally understood, and that’s essentially the purpose of the project: to find out which sauce produces the best results regardless of the chemical composition. There are so many sauces that have chemical compositions that are so similar there is hardly any difference between them and SC40 but there are some the perform MUCH better and some that have additives to aid with the consistency thus making sauces easier to apply as well as additives to aid with the fragrance of the sauce. Comparing different available products advertised as a “sole sauce” up against SC40, which has long been the “golden standard” for icing, helps to give an idea of where people can best spend their hard earned money
@Pmc987
@Pmc987 Год назад
@@SailboatSupplies the only difference is going to be thickening agents. Chemically they can claim they have other stuff in there, but the only active chemical that will bleach plastics is hydrogen peroxide. Higher concentration will do it faster. You need a salon license to get higher than 40 volume (12%). What I suggest you do is get 30% (not volume) hydrogen peroxide used as a cleaning agent and use different inert powders to thicken it to create a sauce. I guarantee that’s the only thing these sole sauce companies are doing. They depend on the fact most people don’t know what developer is made from and that you can get stronger hydrogen peroxide solutions just as easily.
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies Год назад
@@Pmc987 no doubt, I would not argue that in the slightest. My intention for the series is primarily to be informative to those that aren't as familiar with the process of "icing" shoes. Most people will not go the lengths necessary to create their own sauce and by providing these comparisons, I can help other people best spend their hard earned money. This specific series was 12 episodes, and I intend on creating another series that dives deeper and helps with more specific comparisons. I have had many people ask me why I don't use salon care 50 volume and many don't realize that you need a license to get something higher than 40 volume and they certainly don't know that they can use commonly found products to create their own sauce. What I hope to provide to the individuals that aren't as familiar with icing is the information that there are many solutions that are easier to work with (likely due to thickening agents and ease of ability with spreading), some that smell better (CCK Sole Sauce is an amazing example of this which smells FAR more pleasant than every other sauce I've worked with), some that work more quickly (likely due to the concentration of the solution), some that seem to produce more longevity with their results (as to why this is, I am uncertain), some that cause more traction loss (again, likely due to chemical composition), etc. I really appreciate the feedback; you are definitely one of the people that understands icing a lot better than the typical audience of this video. I'll definitely keep all the information you presented in mind when creating the next series-- it would be crazy beneficial for people to understand the process in even more depth and that kind of information is something I think would be really helpful

Why aren't you putting masking tape on the upper? Legit question
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 2 года назад
Great question. I personally follow the rule “as much as is necessary but as little as possible” when it comes to my prep work and amount of sauce utilized. I make sure that i am extra diligent with all my prep to avoid any long term damage to the shoes and avoid getting the sauce on the uppers. I have also truly dialed in the amount of sauce that i use to ensure that it does not drip or leak onto the uppers during the icing process. You wouldn’t be Wrong to tape the uppers- it is certainly a good method of maintaining safety for the uppers and to ENSURE that you’re not going to damage them. I personally find that when the sauce is applied carefully and with appropriate amounts, masking tape is unnecessary. Additionally, if you are skilled/experienced with the placement of your Saran Wrap/cling wrap, you can really use that to make sure that all the sauce stays in place. Long story short: if you’re just beginning and don’t have much experience, this is a WONDERFUL way to maintain safety and avoid potential damage on any materials sensitive to sauce but it’s not necessary, especially when you have practice and experience. For me, I’m comfortable with the amount of sauce that I use and the prep process I use that I won’t damage other components of the shoes and that kind of prep work takes a LOOOOOONG time so I avoid it when I can.

What's a ice box?
@SailboatSupplies
@SailboatSupplies 2 года назад
A box or container of some sort lined with reflective sheeting utilized in the icing process to aid with improved reflection of the UV light. Many people use grow tents as their ice box. Others use large Tupperware style containers or large cardboard boxes lined with a reflective sheeting known as Mylar. There are multiple videos on RU-vid about how to make them. I have one on my channel from several years ago about how I made mine and I will be producing another video on the construction of an ice box in the near future.

Sorry to ruin this for y’all. But you’ll never get them to be icey new again. You may get some of the yellowing removed, but it will never be what you want. I’ve ruined two pairs of Jordan 6s by trying these methods. Now they have no grip and still yellow. It’s not worth the time or effort. Enjoy the aged look, no one cares what the bottom of your shoes look like.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, or rather, multiple bad experiences. The amount of icing that can be achieved is due to a number of different factors including (but not limited to) age, amount of wear, sun exposure, types of surfaces worn on, regular maintenance (ie cleaning regularly), storage conditions, and type of material. Unfortunately, making a blanket statement that "you'll never get them to icey new again" is false-- if you're icing a pair of DS sneakers, it is VERY possible to restore the original luster of the shoes. The purpose of this series is to educate people which products work the BEST when it comes to deyellowing. Not all sole sauces are created equal, some do a better job than others and some are SAFER than others. if you were using Salon Care 40, a product originally intended for use on hair, there is a good chance you caused a chemical burn on the sneakers which is why they lost traction. Other sole sauces, developed specifically for use on shoes, are NOT as harmful and will not cause the same effects. I agree, everyone *should* enjoy the aged look of their sneakers, but many want to maintain the most optimal condition of their kicks as possible and for that reason, products like this exist. Thanks for the watch, and appreciate the feedback.

Salon care volume 40 is a Creme. Not a "sauce". Calling everything "sauce" because a few companies using the name sauce is stupid and just sounds illiterate.

I’m so sorry you feel that way, getting caught in semantics so heavily must make living day to day life very difficult. I can only imagine how hard it is when people use “sick” for something cool or amazing as opposed to something that is ill, when people use “cap” to describe a lie/falsehood instead of “a head covering” or “dope” as something awesome rather than “a drug taken recreationally” or “a stupid person”. For what it’s worth, 75%+ of companies that make a deyellowing/deoxidation agent for shoes call their products “sauce” and that term has been colloquially used for 15+ years- it’s not meant to be accurate in a literary fashion. I don’t know where I gave you the idea that I was illiterate during this video, perhaps a reminder that being illiterate is “the inability to read or write” and I didn’t do any reading or writing during this video. At any rate, appreciate you watching long enough to give extra views and for taking the time out of what I assume is a busy day to comment on this video.

Just the fact that you call it “sauce” is such a joke. It’s not sauce. You’re trying to be cool with some slang. IDK man how bout growing weed in that tent and just putting the shoes outside?
@SailboatSupplies

I’m sorry you feel that way, Scott. Believe it or not, “Sole sauce” Is actually a very popular terminology for hydrogen peroxide based deoxidation solutions. Many companies use “sauce” in their actual product names. Fabes sole sauce has been around for 10+ years and is a very popular product. Drip sole sauce, CCK sole sauce, AZRC Sole Sauce, Positiv Soles “The Best Sole Sauce” are all examples of brands that have been very successful and use this exact nomenclature. As far as using an indoor ice box as opposed to putting them in the sun, I prefer to have the ability to control my temperature. With the Sun, things can get very hot very quickly. If you leave your kicks in an area that is too hot, it can lead to sole separation as well as other damage such as warping of material and melting of adhesives (this is actually something I speak directly about in many icing videos). Hopefully that helps give you a better understanding of my process

@@joshuamedrano2712 sorry you feel that way, Joshua. As I have previously mentioned, “sole sauce” is a very popular terminology. I did not invent it, I simply use it in the same way that thousands of other sneaker restorers use it. This term has been used for 10-20 years at this point in time and is very common.

@@joshuamedrano2712 I’m sorry you feel as though this is a waste of time and money. My customers tend to feel as though having an “icy” sole is more appealing. Many people prefer a fresh, store bought look, and others prefer an aged look. Some people even prefer to pre-age their shoes and sneakers such as the “Off-White” line of Nikes even encourage premature aging and the aged look. Whatever you wear, I hope that you #rockwhatyoulike. Obviously my deyellowing/icing/sole sauce services are not for you but if you do have interest in other restoration work I would be happy to point you in the right direction.
