I heard those speakers. I listened to 2 Golf phantoms and damn they sounded amazing. Went back home to listen to my harman kardon go+play and they sounded funny HAHAHA
HK allure sounds comparatively good. Base wise, which is what phantoms are about. HomePods are more musical with mid and high frequencies. The base is pretty pleasing too! Phantoms go crazy loud, and, as Devialet says, zero distortion. I got them because they look awesome and are mesmerising to look at 🤩
If ever I win the lottery, I'm totally getting a pair of the silvers. It honestly sounds like you're lining the audio into your camera, that by itself says quality. Hope I get to experience these live sometime.
How are you controlling all 5 phantoms for cinema? What do you use to distribute each discrete signal to each phantom, as well as adjust for the audio delay? Just curious as this is an active topic on the forums
Nice touch, I hear each of these silvers are 3k in watts and around 25k is US $''s. Not to mention the rest of the equipment you have which I can't make it all out looks awesome and probably very high end $$$. I am guessing that is a turntable (for the youngsters - that's a thing-a-majig that place a vinyl record).....anyway that thing looks like a work of art. I agree with what someone said ealier - if I hit the lottery I will get one - in the meantime I will have to enjoy it by looking at it in RU-vid videos. Thanks for sharing your setup , I would be sharing if I had one too ) Very nice Congrats
+Michael Greco yes. I use them for my home theater. There is one issue at this time related to Dialog. It incurs some audio delay due to processing, and that can be seen with lip sync issues for video. If you connect the source via Toslink, it is very small delay that sometimes is compensated by a flat panel with its own video delay. But in my case I use a HD projector which I need to use Bluetooth connectivity to Phantom. This causes a larger audio delay. But I work around it by using a Mac Mini running VLC player. As long as I can play the source file through VLC, it allows audio delay compensation. This works perfect. It is an incredible audio experience watching a movie with Phantoms. I understand Devialet will officially support home cinema later. Hopefully it'll be a simple FW upgrade to reduce latency to acceptable numbers. But I think they will create a specialized version of Dialog with direct HDMI input to perform dynamic audio delay compensation.
+Brian Westfield thank you so much for the detailed reply! I have a 2014 Samsung TV and there's a setting for audio delay to adjust digital audio output delay time. I wonder if that alone would fix it? I read something about being able to connect 3 speakers for a cinema mode but I can't find much information. I'm also hearing they'll support 5.1 and 7.1 at some point. Interested to see how that works. If they can master home cinema and add chromecast audio support I'll fill my house up with these!
+Michael Greco yes it sounds like your TV would allow audio delay compensation. On the Devialet forums I read some people are using three or more phantoms for home cinema. At this time there is no official mode for discrete processing but you'd simply assign the third speaker as a mono speaker for the same room. If you get a fourth then you could create a stereos pair for the rear. They will support proper discrete channels hopefully in the near future.
People dissing these speakers price or sound are public toilets. Pricey - yes, value for money - totally!!! The omniprenscent volume coupled with the sound quality and range are legend. Im not an audiophile, but 99% of major audiophile review specialists are raving about these. Those nay sayers are either dumn, or cant afford one(jealous)
i tried to copy a 5 star hotel acoustic music in their dining hall on one silver and it feel so.............. (I can't explain the feels of listening to devialet)
You got to put these speackers in perspective. They are amazing speakers for theire size but, to say that they have the best sound in the world or even that they are audiophile grade is a pure lie. Nothing gets close to a set of towers like tannoy, Bowers & Wlkins, or Focal a dedicated AV reciever (or seperate channel amplifiers) a good sound source like vinil or SACD or a flac file and two true subwoofers like SVS. But again, these setups are big, and super expensive. Phantoms are very small and wile also expensive they dont cost as much as true audiophile setup..
@@nvc. true that ! In my opinion there is a border in price in my opinion is about 15-20 Thousand Euro. Beyond that border you are just paying to be special . I doubt that one could hear the difference from a 5k each speaker to a 15k each speaker. I really doubt it and if you could hear one than i guess that even the 5 k speaker would be more true to the sound and the expensive model just does something to create this kind of special sound that then of course is no longer truly audiophile. Just some thoughts. Everybody has to be happy for them alone and to a person who is happy with his setup my opinion doesn´t matter. Also the Design is a huge point .
they have impressive bass for their size yes, but however they do not do 16-25kHz at their "rated" 102dB SPL, they only will do 16-25kHz at 82dB thats their -20dB point which is (if you do the math) is 3.33x less acoustical power ie you'd have to sit 3x closer to get the same SPL as you would at 102dB SPL FYI their 102dB SPL frequency response is 49-25kHz...
You are incorrect. These do 16-25kHz @+-6db with an accuracy of 20-20kHz @+-2db. The Golds go even lower to 14-27kHz @+-6db. Meaning at full 105db, 16Hz would still be at 99db and at 20Hz at 103db. Idk where you got your specs.
it was on their website, so i was only quoting information from their own specification data... however if you look in the white paper it says the silver and non silver phantom both do 16-25kHz +/- 2dB and 20-20kHz +/- 0.5dB so which is it to be Devialet?, sounds like they don't even know themselves... However 49Hz at 105dB sound like a more reasonable value than their claimed 16Hz or 14Hz. Going that low for a speaker of their size is little to impossible, it makes sense at a much lower SPL it can achieve a clean 16Hz than at 99dB (since its the -6dB dew point)
I dont think you understand that this isn't a normal speaker. This is a complete custom design. It was only a matter of time til we developed a way of producing subsonic frequency in a smaller package.
no i really do understand... i've spoken to Devialet engineers about it... & ive herd it. it sounds good (never said they didnt) but given my background in designing line array systems for concert use getting that SPL that low is very very difficult, yes a speaker might do it at a lower volume but hey you can say that about all speakers... you cant really claim that they actually do 16Hz at 105dB (well like i said before, it'd be 99dB) since Devialet havent given you any facts as to how it was tested, what SPL the frequency response data was taken at, hey even what weighting they were using on the SPL meter... the only thing i can tell you for sure, 105dB at 3kW of power makes this an extremely inefficient loudspeaker i make out its efficiency to be 70.5dB SPL 1W @ 1M which is appalling...
hmm, where is the limit of this? not too expensive for human ears? what whould owners of German Physiks Gaudi Mk II say about these two phantoms? that they are better in that price?
Looks like two hepa filters on stands, you can do far better with that equipment with some regular quality speakers, this setup looses the point of the all in one anyway. Im not a big fan for the price, so much better sound to be had for far less.
Just so other people don't misunderstand your biased statement. Yes, better sound can be had. For far less...definitely no. Looks are subjective so I'll leave it at that.
+Fencey I have two Phantom Silver/Branch and a dialog, and I can totally recommend it. I sold my Thule PA350B/PR350BV and B&W XT8 and I never regretted it. They sound beautiful and powerfull.
Tell me your guys opinion, are they worth the 4-5 grand. I'm currently saving up my money to buy these or Hd800's tell what you guys think I should get.
+John Adams I have two silver so I will sound biased of course. But I recommend them if you do not want a bunch of boxes to reproduce the same quality of sound. These are obviously unique in aesthetics but are serious speakers. They are fantastic if you want an ultra minimal system.
Once you start to push these to high volumes, you will realize how much power they truly have. Not for the smaller listening rooms as they will literally shake the room and become much too intense. They can play in larger rooms at high volumes without stress.
So tell me how do you play all of that great analog equipment on these speakers that uses an app to get music played? So show me the real speakers you use on your sound system ;)
Thats supposed to be 6000 watts right there? Lol what a joke. If it were 1/4 of that power then your outlet breaker would trip. 6000 watts of power would make your room lights dim out every time the bass would hit. 6000 watts is like 6 vacuum cleaners running at the same time. This setup is more like 300 watts max.
+Mat cool Have you listen to them? I also own two Phantom Silver/Branch/Dialog and I think they sound amazing with plenty of details/bass and very good soundstage.
+AceVproductionsPC funny you mention the CM6 S2 as I am very familiar having had a set at one point. While they are good speakers, they do not come close to the sonic abilities of the Phantoms. To put things in perspective: a pair of Magicos start to give the Phantoms a run for their money, but you are talking $$$$ more for the speakers + Amps + DAC.
eh if we are talking about sonic abilities i think that my Cambridge Audio Aeromax 2 will give the phantoms a run for their money, the BMR driver causes the speaker to punch WAY above its weight and honestly I cannot explain how accurate it sounds under every type of music, from classical to heavy neurohop it is accurate and blows your socks off in every single way possible, before anyone makes a move on the phantoms have a look an the Aeromax range with a decent amp such as the CXA60,
