Papa Lazarou claims another victim for his harem... This is a channel from BBC Studios who help fund new BBC programmes. Service information and feedback: www.bbcstudios.com/contact/co...
At our wedding, before my husband said “I do” he said, “You’re ma wafe nah” and I cracked up! It’s on video and 17 years on we still crack each other up.
I used to torment my lad with papa lazarou when he wouldn't get up for school "do you wana buy some pegs dave" worked a treat, he's 21 now and still hates him lol
Remember the Don Logan (Ben Kingsley) character from Sexy Beast? My mum can't stand him. So whenever it's on the telly I remind her about it with quite a good impression. "No! No! No! No! No!" 😇
This is so classic. I love the bit where she says "I make it up it's all gibberish" and then the other woman takes her first steps in talking gibberish lol.
That cut between Lazarou’s wife, turning her into a ‘normal’ housewife is pure genius. The team behind the show were absolute masters of edits like that.
I didn't even notice it wasn't Gatiss before that cut. It's weird how men playing women kinda tweaks your brain into letting weird things slide once you're used to that. That whole mechanic was used to perfection along with the makeup and costume to just throw you into a mindset to suspend disbelief.
I made my American boyfriend watch an episode of L of G & I don’t think he’s ever been the same since!! He’s mentally scarred 🤣 I think you’ve gotta be British to get it.
Yeah I was just staring with my mouth agape at this entire thing. The laughter made no sense as this just seems like a straight horror scene with a moment or two of absurdity
@@markorollo. your iq HAS to be low not to find not only this but LofG fucking hilarious my dad first intorduced me to it when i was 13 we reference it all the time its so fucking funny
@@ianbrowne9217 Means 'without'. Like sans plomb (unleaded fuel) in France. While this is funny I think the laugh track was needed as a juxtaposition to the absolute weirdness you were seeing!
The best show at balancing comedy and horror. It wouldn’t take much to turn this into a genuinely disturbing drama. The fact they made it so funny is astonishing. The second series more so as it did away with the more sketch oriented first series. Third series lost me but was inventive. Friends tell me I need to see again to appreciate it.
The funniest group of writers that have existed, maybe the funniest sketch ever this dark humour is a gift to the world. Truly masters of there craft , I can’t express how brilliant leave of gentlemen was A crime against humanity that they only done 4 series. Thank you for the funniest shit ever
Still my favourite, still genius and unique, the characters, the acting, the delivery...unmatchable and unbeatable! This is really what a timeless piece of art looks like. Also Psychoville doesnt fall behind.
@@noisyboy8048 Heavy American cultural influence where we've imported their idiotic, simpleton's view of the world (especially regarding race) and now characters like this are seen as mocking black culture or black people themselves. It's all bollocks as far as I'm concerned, but that's probably what they're referring to.
This reminds me of walking to work in the morning. A young man with mental health problems insisted on following me calling me Dave. I am forever thankful he didn't think of me as his wife especially as I'm a bloke😁
None of us asked for this to get removed. We wanted Justice for George Floyd (and won). Not the total censorship of stuff made 20 years ago that isn't even made in a racial sence.
When you’ve been watching Reece Shearsmith’s entire body of work and you realise this is just one of his many pissing about on-set voices, this reaches a whole new level of funny.
There was a bloke at work who had a gravelly voice so I nicknamed him Papa Lazarou. Whenever I saw him I was say hello dave in my best impression, not loud enough for him to hear but enough for others to laugh. This programme would probably offend someone these days.
white shaming - is a form of racismWhere will it end Rivers of blood and tears for every 1 Equal rights for every one or none for every one no more 1 sided laws or magic cards
Just go along with the madness for short term comfort . So prescient . Scarily prescient . You will go along with my ideology …..Dave PS Well done to the BBC for keeping this available . It’s as important as ‘1984 ‘
One of my friends husbands dressed up as papa lazarou for a Halloween party...he even put on the same voice....God it was creepy....but brilliant! He stayed in character the whole night!
Omg ....the bollocks, haven't watched this for years but "your my wife now ' remembers this saying on our wedding day up town 😅 couldn't help my self 😊
@@emz2969 how would it be racist to assume it's aimed at them when he's literally painted black? like, i dont think it was their intentions but nonetheless i can see how it could come across that way
@@Penguinstudios123 it's kind of a weird double layered joke. This show made a supernatural travelling creepy minstrel man. The fact that he's painted black may be blackface, but the intention is truly different. To say this character is meant to make me laugh at black people is just incorrect.
I think it's fair to say that no comedy program would be passed these days-they'd say you were taking the piss out of someone/something. Try to sanitise humour and it ceases to be funny!
As a child who grew up with 2 older siblings in the 90’s… and being named Dave/David this joke flew over my head as a kid now as a late 20 something boomer dying old man I found out who my brother and sister would always say “Hello Dave….” In a menacing way 😂 or say “you be my wife now Dave” 😅lol 😂 🤣
