I watch this film every chance I get. It's a top tier film in my books and thankfully vampire films are one of the few types of horror film the wife likes(probably the love story aspect) so this and the lost boys get plenty of love in my house. I really like Fright Night 2 aswell, super underated, and the reboot was also much better than expected. Fright Night the New Blood (2013) was an absolute travesty though. I think The Temp (1993) was the last really fun film Tom Holland directed and that's a pity. Absolutely cracking review Anthony👍👊

The reboot was alright, but I thought it had too much action for the sake of action. It didn't really feel like a vampire horror move, more like a vampire action movie like John Carpenter's Vampires which is a good movie too.
An iconic movie of the era and, honestly, one of the best Vampire films ever made. Great story, great cast, great effects and production teams! It perfectly blends Horror and Comedy in to a compelling hybrid experience. If you haven't seen the 1985 original version of "Fright Night" you really should.
One of my top 5 fav films of all time. The simple yet clever story, the scares, the laughs, the banger soundtrack and head of it's time monster creations and FX, just an all round good time that does not age. Damn classic.

Loved this movie, the premise was brilliant and all the actors, especially Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowell were great, never will forget the weird, scary Evil Ed vampire though.

I absolutely adore this film, it’s my favourite vampire movie and one of my all time favourite horrors. I never get bored of it. It holds a special place in my heart as it’s one I watched constantly as a child at my nans. The novelisation is good too doesn’t ever to far off the path but does elaborate on the story a bit more. Great video loved this one. 🔥🔥👌

Great review! I watched this for the first time ever last year and I really enjoyed every bit of it. Months later I watched it a second time and I enjoyed it even more! The performances from the cast were pretty good and I also liked the music including a few the songs which included the theme song to this flick which was done by the J. Geils Band.

I haven't seen this movie in years. You definitely make it look interesting. I tell ya, I think we might see a return to more practical effects. That, or at least a hybrid would be great. Practical effects seem to hold up better. Awesome job on the video.
Great video as usual! Ive been meaning to watch Fright Night for the longest time, I really need to. Horror comedy is my favorite film genre. Those practical effects alone have me interested.
Vampire movies were never really something I rushed to but I can't think of one that really disappointed me. I can't count how many times I've watched The Lost Boys, love that movie, but I've been neglecting Fright Night. After listening to your insight and commentary I'm definitely putting this one on my "watch immediately list".

Great job as always! I saw this movie opening night in a packed theater and there were shrieks and laughs all the way through it. I actually haven't seen Fright Night since but I clearly remembered every scene you referenced.

This is one of my favourite movies and I'm actually glad that Vincent Price wasn't in it because it would have distracted from The amazing spectacle the gruesome transformations and the smaller performance is that we're definitely pretty good.
That is true, McDowell was great but Price was so magnetic and well known. I recently rewatched the original Fly in preparation for a review and he was a stand out there as well. Thanks for watching Jin! Be well.

Finally got to watch this. Great deep dive review. Fright Night is such a classic, one of the first horror movies I remember seeing as a kid. Jerry is by far the coolest Vampire right next to Bela Lugosi. Love those classic horror movie host, and Roddy McDowell nailed it. Man I think I need to pop in my blu-ray and rewatch this now 🤘

I haven't watched this movie, but then actors all look familiar.. even the girlfriend Amy.. She was in a TV show in the 80s I think.. But dont remember the show. The practical effects look great especially the part you mentioned about the mirror and no reflection. Great review Anthony

There was so much homo-erotiscism in this movie. It was subtle but it was there. The way he tucked Eddie into his raincoat, the man servant who you can tell adores his master.
I always got the feeling that Ed and Charlie were friends, then Charlie started dating Amy and there was a build up of resentment from Ed, which annoyed Charlie. It always felt like the awkward transition from friends to enemies.
Great way to start the episode. Really brought me back. I saw Fright Night at the theater multiple times as a kid. I remember even catching it at the cheap theater as well. My love of Fright Night even led me to collecting the comics. It was my first actual comic collection. I was all about Ed in that comic. The connection of Jerry being the Lando was really good too. I see it. I've often said that the Creature from the Black Lagoon is the Boba Fett of the Universal monsters. Very very groovy episode, good sir.
Ha ha, you can tell I'm obsessed with Star Wars, I'll casually work it into most any convo, even in real life. I can totally see that Creature / Boba comparison. So mysterious and off the grid. Great review of a great film! I would have loved to see what Vincent Price would have done with the role since he's one of my favorite actors of all time and an amazing horror legend. I'm really glad you did this video because I haven't seen this movie in so long that I now want to rewatch it again. The remake was so trash, but that is an obvious statement.

Great review for one of my favorite fang flicks. Love the Lando reference early on as an aside. Sarandon nailed it and I love the shark face effect rating 😂 Also loved the trivia you sprinkled throughout. Have you seen the “You’re So Cool Brewster” doc on both movies? Highly recommend it. If you dig different types of vamp movies and you haven’t seen Near Dark. I highly recommended it.

My wife and I love to put this on every year . The kids love it too !! Was not that much of a fan in the remake . But Roddy was superb in this !!! I can talk about Fright Night all day haha . never say never, hopefully Tom Holland can get his project off the ground, reuniting the original cast for another one. I've no idea who could replace Roddy, thats a tough act to follow.
Exquisite review, If I had never seen this movie before, I'd be scouring streaming services for it. True Story: I once met a woman in a bar with a large detailed Sharkface Amy tattoo that started above her left breast and trailed down to her abdomen 😍 but alas she informed me that we were not soulmates 😩 and she promptly declined my offer to run off to Vegas...I tried right 😎

Great review of this classic. I like the idea of having Billy Cole as the sort of zombie daylight protector. It seems like such a logical thing for a vampire to do - is this the first Vampire film to think of that?
Hey Mr. Dan...that is a great question about Billy Cole. I've wondered the same thing & looked into it a bit. On the Fright Night Wiki fan page it states: "Many people believe that Billy is actually a zombie or a ghoul, a creature that has been partially changed from human into a supernatural creature, having powers similar to vampires such as strength and resistance to mortal injury and death but lacking most vampire's weaknesses bar a stake to the heart." I could not find other examples of daylight protectors. So if there are any vampire movie/tv fans out there who know - feel free to fill us in.
Wait, so in 1985 Christopher Lee turned down Fright Night because he didn't want to go back to his horror roots... and then he turned around and appeared in Howling 2?! A movie so bad that Lee apologized to the director of the original film for being in it? And you say he has no sense of humor. Come on, that's the funniest thing I ever heard.

She was pretty good in it. She was actually 27 when she shot the movie, but in the 80's it was common for people well into their 20's to play teens. Thanks for watching.
