Have you ever piled pressure on yourself even though you're struggling? I've spent the last few weeks forcing myself to be productive even though I really needed a rest. This vlog is about the lessons I learnt about self-care during times of stress and how productivity can be a burden. I used my creativity to return to my childhood enjoyment of art and through it found the relaxation and mindfulness I was looking for.
I hope you find this vlog to be comforting and cosy and I hope you learn how to let yourself rest ✨

...so I also play piano. I like to mess around privately with Stevie Wonder and Barry Manilow songs. I also watch Eva Gevorgian, a kind of Russian fairy princess with a massive cascade of blonde hair, who performs Rachmaninoff and Scriabin with orchestra to world acclaim. My complete lack of drive to work on insanely difficult pieces is what keeps me from self-comparing when I listen to her. It's kind of fun to just be along for the ride. My art practice is kind of similar, although way less serious, and with no expectations and with the fun of play always front and center. Meanwhile, it's also fun for me watching your process, clearly more disciplined and more accomplished. Maybe we can learn a bit from each other...? :) Cheers!!

Man, I sometimes wish I'd had the chance to practice music, it sounds so fun! I totally get what you mean about enjoying the journey without the pressure of comparison. It's all about finding joy in the process, whether it's playing music or creating art. I'm surprised that you find my process disciplined! I'm self-taught so I never really consider it to be so. Cheers to our artistic journeys! 🎶🎨😊

I wish more people understood this. You can only explain the importance of self care in so many words, but the meaning behind it is so much more than words can give and it's THAT that I wish I could give to people. As for the "forest-bathing" I ABSOLUTELY understand this and am working to get myself to think to go outside more. I tend to feel ... stifled if I don't go outside for a long period of time. Like my own personal energy or flow has just... stopped and I tend not to notice it as often as I should. The reminder to just play with art is also appreciated. I forget that often as well. If you are not enjoying what you're doing when it comes to self expression, why then are you doing it? (Last question meant in general to all people, not directed at anyone)
@ysvyri
@ysvyri Год назад
I agree with you wholeheartedly on self-care and about the last question you posed! Our creativity and taking care of ourselves is definitely something where "selfishness" is not a bad thing 😊💜 I'm so glad you enjoyed my video and i really hope you can get outside more often and have some wonderful adventures!

Great video, Kim! Taking care of yourself is not selfish at all and is a great way to make sure you're presenting yourself to your friends and family in a healthy and sustainable way.

Thank you so much! 😊💜 I always feel like if you don't take care of yourself first, you aren't showing up for others 100% and that doesn't help anyone!

You’re so right about the need to go “Forest Bathing”, my husband and I tend to just sleep on the weekends but we need to make time to go out and visit nature. We live in Yorkshire and there are countless beautiful places to go see. I’m sure it will have a better effect on us than just sleeping our time away😊❤

Oh Yorkshire has some absolutely beautiful places! One of my favourites there is Brimham Rocks - such an interesting landscape! I hope you and your husband will have fun getting out and about in nature and finding some interesting places to explore 🌱😊💜

Awesome video and oddly enough, I was talking about how much being outside made me feel good with my therapist today (we literally talked about all you said in the video); I'm lucky enough to have a big garden and every 3 hrs of me siting at my desk drawing I unconsciously get up and go outside, even just for 5 mins. I'm also lucky enough that I get to cycle to my day job for 20 mins and back and honestly, my mind feels so much better and alert. I feel like I come alive again ahah. So I totally get where you're coming from, nature is so healing. Thanks for sharing =)

I'm so glad my video resonated with you in such a way! 😊💜 Thank you so much for your kind words! Having a garden or any place to go to be in nature is so good for us, especially in stressful times. I'm happy to hear you have a lovely garden that's perfect for reconnecting with yourself, that's a wonderful thing!

No, I cannot rest, I'm 24 years old, unemployed, and my art sucks, and constantly remind me that I'm not good enough to fulfill my goal of being able to put my imagination on paper and do it justice. "Give yourself the compassion and permission you would give those you love" As if they've given me that compassion and permission for a long period of my life. I CANNOT stop being hard on myself, because that's literally all I've ever known.

It is not my place to say what you should do with your life - but I can see you're in pain from the many comments you left me. I hope you can be fulfilled and find comfort in your life - you are young and there is plenty of time for things to get better. I truly hope you can recover from the pain you are feeling and that you can find people in your life who will root for you.
@costelinha1867
@costelinha1867 7 месяцев назад
@@ysvyri First off, one. There are people who root for me, I just don't feel worthy of their love. Second, I'm so sorry for just throwing all my baggage on you, you have nothing to do with my problems, you were just trying to help. PS: Yes I know it sounds contradictory to say that I have people who cheer me up after saying that my loved ones did not give me the compassion and permission you ask to give myself, but it's as they said, loved ones can hurt you really bad sometimes.

For someone who says they're newer to making videos, they are already so soothing and comforting to listen to (especially with your cuts to nature shots). 😊I've been guilty of perfectionism in my life, but I'm thankfully in a healthier place where I can recognize it in my thoughts and in my environment now. Grounding myself and being playful is so important to get out of that toxic "not good enough" drive!
@ysvyri

Thank you so much!😊💜 It truly warms my heart to hear that you find the videos comforting and soothing! That's exactly what I want to achieve with these. Your thoughts on overcoming perfectionism resonate with me. It's indeed a journey to recognise and break free from that toxic mindset, and I'm glad you have developed a strategy to help with it! Here's to nurturing healthier perspectives and enjoying the beauty of the present moment! 😊
