Now Season 3 saw Joe murdering love, faking his own death, dropping his son Henry off at the neighbours and him travelling out to the city of Love to track down Marienne.
Unable to find her, loveable psychopath stalker Joe ended up travelling to London after being told that she was at an art fair in our nations great capital.
Joe managed to track her down but after realising that she wants nothing to do with him he decides to leave her alone. Her daughter is waiting for her back in Paris and she expects her back. Marienne calls Joe a murderer and is sickened by the fact he killed Love and countless others.
He makes a promise to prove he's not that man and since then he's been going under the name Johnathan More which was given to him by an assassin named Elliot. Hired by Loves father he was sick of the constant death and he wanted to give Joe an out in the form of a new identity. Marienne knows he's alive though and he has to kill her in order to make it so that he can fully close the chapter on Joe...or was it...Will...anyway..unlike previous seasons, Joe actually doesn't really do much murdering in this one and instead the story centres around the eat the rich killer who is picking off his new circle of friends.
It's very much a You-Dunnit with us watching Joe being taunted by the killer as he tries to unmask who they are.

There's little breadcrumbs the story leads in each season that makes it seem like Joe is going to get taken down from the evidence he left behind. The photographer looking at him suspiciously and taking his picture was the odd end unaswered this season, and I think the jar of pee he left at Peach's summerhouse is another one.

I think this is 100% true because in one scene when she was talking to Joe in the library and they were having a long talk. Then he goes somewhere and there’s a body or he gets caught up. It was like she was distracting him so the killer had a chance to do what they needed to do.

@T Kim yeah, that's one of the reasons Kate led Joe to "their spot" to have sex. The first thing Kate says is that people can probably hear them, and they might get caught having sex (in a thrilling way). Kate and Malcolm were definitely into being watched or turned on by the thought of being caught doing something naughty. Could that also apply to murder? Kate had to suppress her emotions as a child and she could be real messed up as a result. We may have another Love on our hands. I love the dialog between the characters more in this season and the way this season is filmed.

I kinda felt like that Rhys would be the killer, he was the only odd one out. Joe ended up as an ex murderer, detective, college professor, clean up and a heartbroken guy this season. Also, why was love their in the part 2 trailer?!

Rhys being the villain was too predictable, even when the other characters showed signs or had motive to be the killer, I still suspected him from the drop then again I’ve played too many games where the seemingly altruistic ally ends up being a villain, it’s a worn out trope, let’s see how it all ends in pt 2.

I noticed that all the scenes about rhys have one thing in common, that is, in the scene where he appeared, he only talked to Joe, and others seemed not to know him. For example, 1. In the bar where malcom invited Joe, Rhys only talked to joe 2. While Joe had dinner with all of them (there is a strange place here is that Rhys asked how Joe felt at that time, and Joe replied fine. Adam, who was bragging, asked Joe what he was talking about, thinking that Joe was talking to himself and stole his spotlight. It is obviously implied that rhys was not present at all. 3. The dialogue between Joe and Rhys at the art exhibition held by Simon 4. And after Simon's death, rhys appeared at Phoebe's house and had a conversation with Joe on the balcony 5. Roald and Joe were trapped in the basement in a coma, and rhys told Joe that he was the murderer. It seems that Rhys is familiar with these people , but in fact, no one except joe realizes his existence. So I believe he is definitely an image made up by joe's brain. As for the murderer, joe was killing alone from beginning to end. Probably , he has been schizophrenic, and then he unconsciously killed Phoebe's friend. The so-called Rhys who keeps texting him is just an image he created to paralyze himself from all the charges. 🤔🤔🤔 Of course, I also suspect that his student is the murderer , because she has appeared many times and is related to malcom and Rhys.

But I did go back to the dinner episode where Joe tells Rhys he's fine and Adam asks what's that? Implying he was indeed talking to himself.

What if Rhys is inside Joe’s head. We never see Rhys interact with any other people from the group. When Rhys asks “Jonathan are you okay?” And Joe answers “I am okay.” Adam turns around and says “What did you say?” Maybe Rhys is real and Joe read Rhys’ memoir and related himself to Rhys. Every time that Rhys commits the murder. There’s some or the other issue with Joe happening. So, is Joe the one doing all this?

I thought that too when he was talking to Joe at the bar in ep 1, like, what if he was his brother? I find it interesting that Rhys dad is a rich guy, and he only discovered his identity way later in his life, since iirc, Joe's mom used to cheat on his dad, it makes so much sense to just be a coincidence

This season did grip my attention with the murder mystery plot with an unknown killer on loose but watching Joe yet again reinvent with a new life after getting away with murders for so long is honestly annoying. Especially after he hypocritically blamed everything on Love last season when we all know both are equally at fault .

I was referring to only that particular aspect, I know in other aspects “You” is better than the last seasons of GOT. And i used GOT because it was the one i could remember then to refer for plot armour and I haven’t watched Last of us yet. But u cant deny how he was able to get away when he himself was careless enough to leave finger prints and dna around so many crime scenes. A proper crime squad will always check for prints and other bodily fluids left behind. One time is understandable but at this point he had left multiple clues in multiple crime scenes.

Rhys hasn't interacted with anyone other than Joe throughout the whole 5 episods. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this, it's certainly suspect since he always is just in the background or appears next to Joe. The only outlyer is the eulogy. But that is likely Joe just seeing Rhys, when in reality it's someone else. Joe is the killer having some kind of mental breakdown. That's the twist for part 2.

Everytime kate get angry or mad from someone the murder happens, i believe that she is the killer and Rhys is working for her father to clean the mess. She was aware where Roald and Joe were kept in the bunker, most probably she lost het bracelet on purpose to get Joe caught

Maybe it's just me but part 1 was really boring imo. At first I thought, yeah that's just the first episodes but part 1 didn't catch me at all. I'm not even the tiniest bit excited for the second part :/ I'm still gonna watch it but I'm not expecting a 180 in part 2

Its way different than the other seasons for sure but i liked it. I wished marienne would’ve played a bigger role, but at the same time im glad that joe didnt kill her. While I didn't particularly enjoy this season like the previous ones, I understand where the showriters might be going with Joe's story. He is actually trying to be a different person this time, you can see that he is actively trying not to fall in love with Kate. He even refused it (though by Part 2 he still could try being with her). While he might not be completely remorseful, he is still somewhat self aware of his "sins". Introducing Rhys might show that Joe is either a better man than someone who is clearly a mirror image of him, and will continue to feed his denial; or he might finally see himself for what he really is, and either end his own life, turn himself in or ultimately have his past catch up with him . Though I'm sure I'm not the only one who suspected it would be Rhys and wasn't very shocked at the reveal, it still makes for an interesting story to finally see Joe meet his match. It's different, and I'm hoping Part 2 can really wrap it up well.

I actually like how different this season compared to the previous seasons. It was amusing indeed to see Joe get the other end of the stalking and hilarious most of the time but the eat the rich killer reveal is quite disappointing. Also, I do not like how the show portrayed like he is the superhero (so maybe the Batman nuances) here like he wasn't the horrible person from the previous seasons (like when will he pay for his crimes). I guess maybe because they don't want this to end. It is not the best season by any means, but it is still enjoyable.

I can appreciate the different approaches in this season. I love the characters and the way they all talk to each other. The show is also shot differently. It has an old-fashioned feel to it as if I'm watching the modern version of Dick Tracy. I also get silent movie vibes when Joe thinks to himself (most of the time), and we see all the facial expressions and body language that emphasize the narration.

I understand the conflicted feelings with Season 4 because Joe is now the hunted, instead of the hunter. I actually liked it because Joe met his match, and not his "Love" match [no pun intended]. I mean he met his equal form. Joe killed because he "had to" or because he was saving the woman he "loved." Rhys killing because he's trying to "save the world." He's using Joe as his scapegoat. I like seeing Joe struggling a bit.

We always need to remember that we are watching this show from Joe's POV. So I really hope we get that Rhys is a fragment of his imagination. I mean he's real, but after they met Joe started to get episodes with him in his mind. Him not wanting to kill anymore will put into perspective how killers are created. In his case is a primal instinct: he other kills to save his ass or to save his love interest's ass. That is always a possibility for him. So him trying to suppress that can lead to a split personality disorder, where his needs to kill are so essential to his mind that he just drifts into a subconscious state so he can keep his "brand new persona" intact. I mean, that would be the best direction IMO.

I don't wanna go into psychology territory because I'm not a professional... But maybe he does not want to kill anymore, we have heard him say that, but his killer nature needs to come out somewhere. A split personality disorder could have developed. That's why he's "waking up" right after people are killed and his other personality "Rhys" takes over and he does the things Joe does not want to do. Again, it's a territory I'm not familiar but I think it could happen in fiction. It wouldn't be the first time.

There’s so many ways part 2 could go. I don’t think Rhys is in Joe’s head because he interacts with the other Elitists and they mention him not coming to the country house. And then there’s the theory that Rhys might be Joe’s brother? Not sure about that either but is Rhys’s motive really just hating the rich? I don’t know what his intentions are. And then I keep thinking about people from previous seasons that are still alive like Dr Nicky, Ellie and of course Marienne. And it seems really random that Love’s dad hires Elliot to kill Joe but then he decides he doesn’t want to and that’s the last we hear from him? It doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

I think Nadia is the one sending messages to joe. When the news broke about Malcom's death (start of ep3) during class there was a short scene where we see nadia reach down and a min later joe gets a message along the lines of "do I have ur attention now". And right before the death news, joe was asking his students what they thought about the stalker in the book amd Nadia defended the stalker saying it was love. I feel that also getting rid of Kate was simply because Nadia got jealous at how close they got (Joe and Kate). It's very possible that Nadia has an obsession over teachers and it's not unlikely she has one on joe since she slept with malcom. Its her pattern. Rhys definitely has something to do with the murders and so my theory is that he and nadia are working together since it was Nadia that introduced Rhys to joe via his book. They probably want to help poor people since they have a modest background

Dont like the characters in this season. Dont really feel Kate and Joe's heat and connection. Kate herself is quite annoying and too up tight and so are the others. Phoebe seems to be the only one I like. I was kinda hoping Nadine would be the killer. I mean it would be a great twist after she explained to Joe how these murder mystery books work. But i wasn't surprised when I saw Rhys. The last 2 episode were a bit eh and involved boringly. The other characters are annoying and too out of touch.. Like people are dying and threatening to murder the other and they are "bored". Seriously?. Even before the show came out I was and am hoping Love shows up. Love is iconic and was the best character out the entire series. I was secretly hoping Love didn't die and is taunting Joe but geuss that's out the window but I am still hoping she comes back.

They were traumatized by abuse and we know Joe has a soft spot for children in need. The student (what was her name again) isn't a child, she is not in danger as far as we know. She doesn't need him as a knight in shining armour as Paco and Ellie did (or at least he thought so). Plus her being caught breaking in over a letter seemed a bit off to me. I was and still am suspicious of her. I could imagine her being a partner of Rhys and texting him, becoming obsessed as she loves a good crime story and maybe wants to sell Joe's story?

part 2 could go many ways but the predictable boring plot that i think it could go would be: joe and rhys will be like hannibal and will trying to convert each other, joe will meet love in his subconscious and will have a pep talk with her on his lowest moment like a What would Love Do?, then he figures how to win over rhys and redeems himself by defeating Rhys. believing his less evil compared to Rhys, he finally decide to get it right and try it with Kate but Nadia discovers her identity because of that photographer, and fuck starting over. he gives up on himself and goes out walter white style either saving someone or admitting to all his crimes and going to prison. but someone he wronged from the past comes out to get him alone and exact their own justice. then voila, season 5 if ever it gets renewed or cancelled. season 5 will have a time jump where joe isolated himself in the woods away from everyone else to suppress his psycho genes and he succeeded for many years but his son sought out to find him with Paco and Ellie.I REALLY HOPE it wouldnt go this way. Other ways that I wish it would go: the friend group is playing him and they are all serial killers and he met his match because they are all psychos led by Rhys so its like Joe vs a psycho cult group like the show The Following. Rhys has a following with his book and Joe is up against a cult leader. They are hazing Joe and testing him and trying to gauge if he can be recruited inside. Nadia is a member. Kate is a conflicted member, thinking Joe could save her out of it because Joe is trying to redeem hkmself and she thinks it may be possible for them both. Nadia and the photographer is or isnt a member. Joe will feel like he should be happy findng people like him but he felt even more disgusted of his true self. He wins over whos the alpha somehow and he outrank Rhys and became the ringleader. He embraced his whole psycopath side and Marienne witnesses it somehoew. He flees again based on his life patterns and try to start anew but it was revealed that a friend or a close family of a victim from his past is doing revenge on him. It could be someone from his own family in the past and that will add up to his question of himself if he can really be redeemable, or he should just kill himself.

( at the end he just stares into Joes eyes ) Everyone who gets killed has insulted Joe in some way or threatened Kate - Malcolm calls Mary Anne a whore also Malcolm is cheating on Kate - Simon threatens Kates career and he is rude to Joe multiple times - Gemma accuses Joe of being the killer at dinner and Kate doesn’t like her - except for Rold he is the only one that lives ( he tries to kill Joe but he never threatens Kate ) ( Rold is able to give Joe an alibi because they were chained up together making it look like Joe can’t be the killer) I watched the season twice and this is what I came up with. I’ll watch it once more and check if someone speaks to Rhys I didn’t notice it but I definitely could have missed it. I think you are correct though about the student mentioning Rhys book and that I do not have an answer for yet. Interesting theory about it being Joes brother.

Ok but the fact that Joe was blackout drunk or falling asleep every time a crime happened. I think it might describe him having a split personality where every time "Joe" is unconscious, the other side he's trying to suppress automatically activates, i.e. a psychotic killer. his murderous side is stronger than his desire to suppress it, therefore it’s only active when he’s not in control of his consciousness or his will (when he is asleep or drunk)

Ok I stopped right at minute 4. You say that Kate is the YOU of season 4 and I strongly disagree. Almost everytime he talks to the YOU in his mind, he talks to the killer. This is not a repetition of Joe becoming obsessed with just another girl. It's Joe becoming obsessed with the killer and them having a connection. There is probably someone else next to Rhys. So except Kate is in on the killings and was texting him, she wasn't his YOU this season so far. He liked her (for whatever reason I can't understand), that's pretty much it.

Soooo I don’t think Rhys is the killer. Or “real”. I think it’s Joe, but he’s hallucinating everything. Lol. He’s done so in the past, and no other character interacts with Rhys. If you’ve seen Secret Window, you’ll see parallels. Just my theory.🤷🏽‍♀️

GUYS. Maybe this is a reach but I think that the “killer” may have some sort of connection to Love’s mom. We know that she isn’t dead. Last we saw her Joe was dropping her off at rehab. Joe also killed both of her kids, which she may have figured out. I think it would only make sense for her to come back. I also really wish they would bring Ellie (Jenna Ortega) back because we never really got any closure on what happened with her. Marianne and his student from the beginning of the show also need to be involved in the part 2 plot somehow otherwise they wouldn’t have been in the show this season. Lastly, I’m also very suspicious of Phoebe. Everyone is saying they liked her but I didn’t find a single character likeable this season (GOD HOW ANNOYING IS KATE) and I find her very sus

Actually I’m season 1 I’m pretty sure that Peach found his jar of pee and that’s why she was suspicious from the start. That’s what I remember! And he let Will Bettelheim go but FaceTimes him in season 3! So really the only loose end right now is Ellie

i know it’s been mentioned before but I think love is coming back, the odd part about the show is that in the first episode we only knew beck for one season, then we knew love for one season but instead she came back for a second which shows her importance, I think the point was to make her even a bigger character.

Joes student gave me sus vibes when she said “I didn’t love him” made me wonder if she could be of assistance.. Also, what if there is NO RHYS? What if this is Joe 2.0 and he’s having a psychotic episode where he’s literally having a split personality. Remember when he killed Forty and didn’t even realize it. He kept seeing blood on his hands and forgetting maybe now he’s made up a whole new personality.. i just can’t wait for March 9th.

We know Joe is a very calculated thinker and planner and even if he isn’t aware of what he is doing he will still posses those traits. Although it is probably a reach lol. RHYS may very well be his brother or even Dad as other have mentioned.

People don't just "make up new personalities", especially not as an adult and for sure not just like that, months or years after a traumatic event. They also don't see themselves as another person and talk to themselves in a hallucination. Not how DID works at all. They could still take that route but I'd like to think the writers would educate themselves about a topic they want to include. Also, didn't a cop kill Forty when Forty wanted to kill Joe? I don't really know what you mean by that.

Not sure I’d call her boring, but she’s insufferable. I haven’t seen a character try this hard to be a completely unlikeable bitch all the time. Like… it must get tiring, it’s like she’s trying to grasp every single opportunity to be an asshole. I’ve met women similar to her, even dated one for a couple of months and I’ve learned to stay the hell away immediately, those are not good people to have in your life.

why are the inner workings of a deeply disturbed psyche so compelling? As with 'Dexter', my hope was that these characters wouldn't inspire anyone to emulate them; although, Dexter's penchant for exclusively mutilating other serial killers is admirable -- or would've been, if he'd actually stuck to it. Likewise, I suspect anyone using Dexter as a role model would do a similarly poor job of sticking to the path. Dexter's is really more of a rationale than an actual high road. Joe seems to know he's a serious fnck-up, but is driven by dark compulsions to obsessively paint himself into moral corners, with the blood of innocents. It's all Hollywood, of course, but any of these creatures that skulk through the shadows, murdering anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths, probably won't stop until they're stopped, because their sense of self-preservation is too heightened to fall on their own swords, as they should. My suggestion is always, to anyone contemplating a murder-suicide, is to reverse the order of the acts, please.
