To me, the most important reason to use Tripltek rather than DJI's smart controllers is that it will also work with my next drone. With DJI, the smart controller becomes obsolete with each new generation of drones. I can't afford that, and I don't want to generate all that electronic junk. Currently, I'm using a Mini 2 and two Phantom 4. I will soon buy an Air 3 and probably a Mini 4 pro. My Tripltek 8 works with all those drones. I'll probably buy the Tripltek Mini for when I'm not carrying a full camera setup where the Tripltek 8 would go in the laptop pocket of a camera bag. Hopefully, the Mini will fit together with the drone in the drone bag, which the Tripltek 8 of course doesn't. Thank you for a great review, and thank you to Tripltek for staying innovative!
I own The Tripltek 8 Pro and couldn't be happier. If I didn't have it and was in the market I'd purchase the 9Pro before the mini. This new Mini is only slightly larger than Dji's RC2. Albeit it has sustained 1300 nits and a few other features better than a regular Iphone or adroid cell phone but I doubt any one wants to carry around another phone . I carry a personal and work phone. I bought the 8Pro tablet due to the bigger screen size and because I have Autel and DJI drones. For less than 200$ you get the dji remote with screen in the package but with 600 $ they can buy this mini tablet.
Hello Russ, thank you for updating us on a new mini tablet from Tripltek. They sure have scaled down their new phone/tablet. I own their Model 8, which is a tremendous, bright screen. Thank You!
Using a separate device from your DJI controller is a big benefit, but the WHOLE reason I bought the TripleTek 8 (used for $500) is that 6 inch phone screens are just too small. For me to consider a controller / phone alternative (with a small screen) the price point needs to be much lower than $600 when I can buy a new TripleTek 8 & 9 that only cost 30% more. Also consider that buying a Mini Pro 3 or 4 with the N1/N2 vs RC1/RC2 (with built-in screen) is only $150-200 more, so buying a phone for $600 is not a worthwhile investment for me. I would actually like to see TripleTek come out with a BIGGER 10 inch tablet that is less bulky and heavy.
That's great Russ! Thanks for making this video. I hate thinking about getting another device when I most often used my Tripletek Pro. I've just recently noticed Remote ID is already asking me to log into my DJI account to fly my M3 or MA2S. Can I do this with my current Tripletek with hotspot to my iPhone? Otherwise I'm thinking I need to get wireless network for my drone biz jobs, if I want to use this Tripletek with out issues. Do you think I could log in with wifi and then be able to fly once ok'd or do I need constant communication with tablet/controller for drone to operate the whole time? What happened to remote id not needed until Spring of 2024? Do you know if an Air 2S has remote id? Thank you!!
One thing I would love to see from Tripltek is a larger screen tablet that didn't weigh a ton. I can compose images so much better when the screen is larger and the current 8 and 9 models are just way too small for me. Not to mention way too heavy, thick and bulky. Oh, and the price of those? Who can afford those? Seriously, the cost is so prohibitive for anyone other than those with deep pockets. And while I'm on the subject, one thing I would buy directly from DJI in a heartbeat is a large screen controller similar to the one from Autel but bigger. I would move heaven and earth to find a way to purchase a smart controller with a 10-inch screen that would allow me not to have to carry around my tablet to every photo shoot.
I'll tell you what: Samsung Galaxy S flagships are great for flying drones. I recently upgraded my five-year-old S9+ to the S23 Ultra, and it's even better for flying. The screen is super bright (1,150 nits, according to the specs) and won't ever dim on you. And, of course, as a premium smartphone, I have a good camera array with gimbal-like OIS with me at all times. Consider just getting a premium smartphone the next time you upgrade and you'll be set. I was considering the DJI RC until I upgraded my phone, but not anymore, because my phone is much brighter than the RC screen and it gives me more flexibility for unlocking geofencing.
How did you get the DJI apps to run on the mini? I downloaded directly from DJI as well as using an installer but I get the same message saying I need to grant authorization which I did over and over with the same result,
I like the RCN2.I have the one that has the built-in screen also but I got to say I enjoyed screen shots and send it directly from the phone. I didn't have to download them and do all the extra mess like I do with the new remote.
I’ve been using the Tripltek Mini for a month now and love it, except for one major flaw. I use the phone to control an Autel Lite+ and the screen is great in bright sunlight. Also added a SIM card and use it as business phone. The major issue with the phone is it needs a basic case.. I’ve looked everywhere and haven’t found anything that fits. Tripltek keeps saying they are developing one, but I need a case now. :(
A phone designed for outside use in bright sunlight. And what do they do? Put a glossy reflective screen on it. I do wonder about the lack of common sense in a lot of these tech designers these days. If I could find a wall, slightly soft with a bit of bounce in it I'd bang my head against it in despair.
I Have been planning on getting the tripltech 9 pro Just because it came with HDMI giving you the ability to use FPV goggles with any DJI drone. sadly, they didn't add HDMI to the mini
Russ, do you know anyone online who buys Tripltek tablets. I would like to trade my 8 for a mini (nothing wrong with the 8 except it’s a pain in the butt to store and travel with as I cant find a case for it).
Can the 9 pro be a hotspot provider to the controller? I am trying to figure out if this is worth buying and using for apps as well as providing hotspot. I am using a DJI RC PLUS, so dont really need am external screen.
Absolutely love your content. It’s down to earth and what everyone wants to see about the Drones , i just wanna say that (iPhone 15 pro max) has a brightness of 2000 nits and (Samsung S23 Ultra) has 1750 nits and the the NEW (Samsung S24 Ultra) Expected January 2024 will have 2500 nits.
dead on arrival. no built-in HDMI output, aspect ratio like any other phone out there - long and narrow - thanks but no thanks. OTOH tripltek 9 pro is too large and too heavy.
