Dope tut as always! Just one thing to min. 1:48: You could also map the volume control to one of your faders and then hit the MIDI button on the top right an click the arrow on the top left corner. There you can set the max. amount of your specific fader for instance to -6db. Then you could turn the fader on your MIDI controller all the way up and it won't pass that line. Just to let you know!
You'd think Adsense was giving an extra dollar for every 'wowsers' said...Possibly the best music production channel tutorial channel on RU-vid! Thanks! :-)
Goodness me, there's so much to live for. So many knobs and buttons, so much useful info. Thanks Underbelly! You've become one of if not my favorite music instructor I've found thus far!
Ok wowzers, from all the videos I've seen in your channel I found this one particurlarly useful. I'd love a whole "you suck at playing live" mini-series, or at least a second video on how to prepare a set of different songs in the same session, for example. Thanks, keep it up!
Im just wondering how you squeeze all the stuff from this old mpd 32, its almost 10 years old controller, am I right? (no offense, youtube's just full of push videos and etc) just big fcking Wow! Keep watching you, thanks man!
Dude, when I got my Push 2 I was completely floored with how useful it was. I don't think I could make it my only controller, but I rarely have to touch the mouse in Ableton, anymore. I mean, it doesn't solve everything, but it's pretty wild. I could do for an extra bank of knobs or some faders on it, though.
Great video, really inspirational! Could you explain what does have you assigned (at 07:58 and 08:15) on the pad and what effect on the knobs for the repeated/pitched effects?
Underbelly - what Ableton device are you using for your Fender Rhodes instrument? Is it an Ableton device or 3rd party... great vibes, one of my favorite channels
I'm rocking a M-Audio 88 Key and the MPD32 in Ableton 8 lite (Came with the 32) in Windows 10. For some reason I can only record one Track/channel and it won't me layer anything.
I have serious question and need help!; Using an MPK49, how can i use the pads at controllers rather than notes. Here^ Underbelly is using the pads to trigger slots and settings and when I attempt this, notes and trigger signals are sent. If anyone can help, thank you!!
Hey guys look not comfrotoble push the button and fast to return to keyboard and when you finished fast push button again, maybee have a something else for comfortoble work?
Why dont you just adjust the max value of the of the faders to top out at 0dB instead of assigning them to the sends ??? Its visually much easier to see where your channel levels are, and you dont have to give up your send busses....
It's a late reply, but anyone wanting free Rhodes goodness should check out Native Instruments Kontakt Player. The Scarbee Rhodes is beautiful. Also comes with The Gentleman piano.
perfect timing! great alternative for those who don't got the handy dandy foot peddle on your other video on live looping. saved me time & money =) p.s. love your enthusiasm n humor when sharing these things!
I am an old Gen Xer that cut my teeth in analogue vinyl many moons ago. After painfully reviewing young millennial RU-vid producer channels I found you. Thank Wowsers that satire is strong in your creative arsenal. Up there with your musical talents. Thanks for skipping the frills and getting to the point. I (now proudly) suck at producing.
Did you have to set the amount of bars you want to loop, or are you hitting end record after each section? I didn't notice you un-arming the record for the drums
You actually map the faders to the volume of your tracks and set the max to nominal instead of +6 , however this does look like a super sweet config for live looping.
hey dude awesome vid ! i'm just beginning on Ableton and i wonder how is it possible to determine the lenght of the loop so that you don't have to press the stop rec button each time ?
question, it seems you only use volumes to mix or glue the instruments when live looping. did you pre-mix/compress anything prior to live looping? any suggestions on basic mixing & mastering using only free vsts/ ableton plug ins? should there be any of these processes going on throughout performing live? thanks in advance underbelly!
very light compression/limiting on master to glue everything together. However 90% of the sound is just listening and making sure the volume of each track is good from the get go.
You Suck at Producing hey thanks underbelly !!! yea im not trying to make it great. just enough so its not hurting folks ears. i mean you do these videos n hardly have anything on n can focus more on havin fun performing. i think im overthinking too much into the knitty gritty details n its so so dope to see its possible to get over all that mixing master 101 stuff n get to this level of performing out already. have a wonderful day yo!
Hey mate. It turns out that I've got an AKAI MPK249 and it has pretty much the same controls and buttons your MPK32 has. My question is, how in the world you create different sound banks and assign them to the MPK one. As in Bank A / Bank B and so on. I just can't seem to be able to do it. Great videos btw, you're hilarious.
hmmm i think by default diff banks allow you to switch between diff octaves on the drum rack. I do some remote scripting stuff to allow bank A to control clips in the session view.
