I have one of these in Purple and did a review on it a long time ago, a really great guitar and no flaws at all. Really a great axe. Nice review Ryan, I love this finish you have. I hope they come back.

I have a 197? S.D. Curlee. A super high quality build, but a lot like yours here, sorta flew under the radar. Their basses gained some popularity but the guitars not so much. The really went the full yard on the build. There's a 16 gauge stamped brass bowl lining the control cavity.

S.D. Curlee did make nice basses. Never tried their guitars but the basses were nice players.

@@sunn_bass They're really interesting and very unique guitars. One piece walnut body. A beefy one piece 24 fret maple slab neck with a bolt on paddle shaped heel that extends all the way to the bridge. DiMarzio sd humbucker bridge and a single coil DiMarzio neck, both I believe designed exclusively for them, as I've never seen another quite like them.

@@leeoffender8406 some of the basses had that same deep insert bolt on neck that went all the way to the bridge. Travis Bean used a similar deep insert neck with their aluminum neck basses.

The only one in that price range I've ever seen make a legit attempt to shield the control cavity. Shielding paint at best.

@@literalghost929 - the hum is typically higher gain that sounds shrill and nasty, and the single coils are flat, lifeless, and just there to be an alternate sound. Ryan's green Strat has modified my view on them, but I'm still a bit skeptical.

@@literalghost929 I'd say it's more the most middle of the road pickup config It covers a lot of ground but it's not really excelling at anything (or at least not anything I need) Personally I don't like having 3 pickups because of the option paralysis I like my bridge pickup to be bright and a bit brittle sounding so single coil bridge pickups are better for me than humbuckers I also like my neck pickup to sound bigger/fuller than the bridge so humbucker bridge/single coil neck doesn't work for that So that's why hss really doesn't work for me at all But those are just my preferences

What do I think? I think it's my kind of guitar. I think it's TOO MUCH my kind of guitar. I just bought two axes identical in many (though not all) ways to your 3 Brothers Stratoid. The biggest visual difference is that mine look more vintage in that they have pick guards. My guitars also feature steel rather than brass sustain blocks -- just as well since they're already heavy enough. I have 9 guitars, 8 of which have that basic non-offset, asymmetrical double-cutaway Strat outline to whatever degree. That said, those two axes I mentioned were bought with the help of decent-to-good timing and searching on Amazon and eBay, which kept acquisition costs very low. Perhaps similar patience will help here as well. Worth waiting for ...

I've heard of this brand before. I believe Guitar Max did a video on them, that's where I heard about them. If I remember right there is some sort of Chinese folk story behind the name and possibly the logo.

That is a beautiful guitar. I ended up getting an Eart Explorer I for 319 on Amazon a couple years ago. Really the only thing that isn't the best about the guitar is the pickups. Otherwise, it is a beautiful guitar that plays and feels great. I feel like there's a lot of great guitars out there that don't require a fortune just to have a certain decal on the headstock.

It must be, I own a Shijie and it looks pretty much the same binding, same neck and same headstock, except that the Shijie carries Japanese made pickups, Gotho Trem and locking tuners.

3 brothers is a very good brand for the money and to be honest it's got some nice spec's , change pick-ups and tone pots toggle switch swop out trem to Floyd rose roller trem and coated springs oh too it looks like a suhr guitar....

The only qc issue I’ve found is the tone knob being a little snug against the body. The action was higher than I’d like out of the box but after a quick adjustment it’s been a very fun guitar.
