No words for Angelina & her heroic song, but Mr. guitar player, you really by far showed the best side of yourself here. Kudos.

I think you nailed it for me, I graduated high school in 66. Angelina has single-handedly brought me back to music after giving up for a few years. Angelina's grandpa had just passed away and this heartfelt tribute was for him. Thumbs up Ellis, and for Angelina's bravery.

Thank you Ellis, one of your most heartfelt reaction to this young child. The fact that she put this out there for all the world to see is simply astounding in my opinion. Maybe not the best performance in her young life but strictly from the heart.

Angelina has the most spectacular voice I've ever known. And even with the advantage of making any mortal smile, even the most special ones.

As a child of the 60s, I am very familiar to most of Angelina's repertoire, whether it was music from my day or that of my parents. She has reinvented these songs, as far as I'm concerned, and caused me to REALLY listen to them for the first time. If there is emotion in a song, this girl can express it. I'll be eternally grateful to her for that.

She sang this shortly after losing her first grandfather. It was probably her first experience with lose of a family member. She wrote “Million Miles” shortly after the death of her second grandfather at 13, and recorded it originally at 14. The live studio version was recorded and released a short time later. I think you nailed it as to why her older fanbase is so obsessed with her performances. She makes old new again while staying true enough to the original to fit in your happy place. Another great reaction. Thank you.

Very emotional. Angelina just came back from the funeral of her grandfather. She sat down with Ivan Mendez and sang this song as her last words to her grandfather. They were very close and she loved him very much. I'm sure it was very difficult to sing this song. She was only 12 at the time.

Angelina is a true messenger of love. And, she is very human, with the ability to pass the love inside her into the hearts of whoever listens to her. The melodies differ, the lyrics tell different stories, but one thing remains constant, her love is so captivating it inspires us to be the best we can be as human beings. Her personal desire is to help make the world a better place to live, particularly for those who have never experienced true happiness in their lives. She realizes this dream is not possible without people beginning to love one another around the world. The process is only in it's early stages but it has begun. Ask yourself: Since I discovered Angelina, am I a kinder person? More caring? More loving? Ellis (if I may), your reactions to Angelina are very unique, giving us a good feel of how a guitar, or a piano player accompanies Angelina's voice. She is so wonderful and, I believe an artistic genius, we can only wonder how those musicians feel as they are playing for her. More than any of us, they can feel her greatness. I mentioned "artistic genius". Ellis, she has been rearranging classic songs since she was nine years old. Changing tempo's, altering lyrics, emphasizing different words and, always, using her voice as a conduit to pass her love into a listener's heart. I have watched several other video's from you of Angelina and I could see this time she really got you. Her genuine emotion was pouring out of her heart but, somehow, she kept it together because she was singing "for grandpa" and wanted to finish the song without breaking down. When you are away from the reaction camera the telltale reactions you personally get when you listen to, and see her, are goosebumps, tearing up with the urge to cry, and often times the inability to string words together to make a sentence. It's your heart telling your brain, "We got something special here! I won't let it go away!"

👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ As others have mentioned, Angelina recorded this song just a few days after her paternal grandfather passed away in March of 2018. Yes, that is his picture on the phone beside her. On her Facebook page she wrote: "Our family lost a treasure today, my grandfather passed away. He was very close to me and have always supported me in everything I did. He always made me smile, laugh and gave me great life lessons. He was a man who got respect from all over the town, always helped people in need, he was the definition of a true gentleman and generous man with a big heart. He will be remembered by homeless people he helped to be able to make a living. He was in deep pain for a couple of months now, he will no longer suffer from the pain. May he rest in peace, our memories together will stay forever in my heart. Until we meet again,❤️"

First things first. Angelina brought me to jazz, I was not looking for jazz at all when mr Google recommended that I watch her. She has made me appreciate jazz and her vocal artistry in general. She also has led me to like very older singers that I actually did not like. Through her I am able to rethink those biases. But, more importantly, Angelina is a younger human who appears to have been sensitive for a long time. Losing a grandparent you know and love hurts. She is doing the right thing by not bottling it up. The death of her other grandfather led to her singing a beautiful song that she at least partly wrote. Again, if everyone expressed and shared trauma, there would be fewer people suffering from emotional disorders. Thanks for letting me listen to this again.

She has revisited songs from our experience but also, she has a beautiful, expressive, and able voice for singing songs in the past styles. As a kid, I grew up listening all around me whether from TV or Lps to Streisand, Helen Reddy, Ronstadt, Como, Garland, Doris Day, Hollywood musicals, jazz greats, country ballads etc. Later as a teen and young adult it was MJ and disco dancing. So Angelina represents the quality and ambiance of the great songs we miss and which are now considered relics but are beautiful music and lyrics. And she has the quality of voice that suits that music. I know as a young adult she will want to branch out and maybe be more current with her choice of music, but I hope she doesn't leave behind her first music love because it is ours also.

Exactly, this is one of those «eulogy songs» I told you about, made at the time of her grandpa’s passing and very bravely shared by Angelina. I completely understand why you suddenly had to “get out of here”. 😉 Also, Angelina obviously understood that thing about humanity and virtuousity - although as she proves in other songs, you can definitely have both.

Absolutely gorgeous and strong with such sincerity and emotion. I like your example of the beefburger. I honestly think that everything you say is absolutely right. Angelena brings life back to old songs and makes them sound so beautiful Angelina style. I really enjoy your reactions and everything you have to say about the song. I love listening to Angelena when it’s just her and the guitarist because she doesn’t need any help. Angelina has the gift of making us feel the words. Truly great reaction and thank you

You are right in your connecting Angelina's treatment of the older songs. But it goes a little deeper than that. Besides nostalgia, the people of these older generations thought we were going to change the course of human history. We thought we were going to re-establish the paradigm of Human development and direct us in a more "peaceful" path. Then we screwed it all up and devolved into a hedonistic cesspool that we are still trying to deal with. But the music gave us hope, it still does. So when we hear it sung by a new generation that has picked up on the scrap of hope that still exists in the words of the song. Us old folk then get to remember when we thought we were 'better' and get all maudlin about it. Yeah, I know, I don't sound so convinced of our generations motivations. My mom said I started talking at 9 months old and that I was a cynic by the time I was 4 years old. Well when you were raised in a household where nothing was as it seemed, you get that way. Still at 70 I am not immune to the original intent of the old songs and these youngsters have responded to them to. I do not know where this generation of Idealists will take this. Hopefully well beyond where our generation managed, but we still have that nasty old human nature thing sitting there plotting how best to use things to it's own advantage. Never did get that old cynicism out of my system. I'd erase all that came before except there is some truth to it. I hope this generation finds a better way.

Yes it's her grandfather. Angelina looks down at his photo part way through the song. Once she did this, I feel it became harder for her to sing this emotional tribute to him and she really struggled at the end but pushed through to honor him. Every time she tears up, I do the same.

I cry every time I see her sing this it was dedicated to her grandpa who had just past away she adored her grandpa so much she really didn’t have to put this out on RU-vid but she did she didn’t mind us seeing this side of her Angelina if she makes a mistake she still lets us see everything she’s such a special person she raised millions for children’s charities and the environment she even gave her winnings from Norway’s Got Talent to charity and she was only 8 then she’s such a special person so humble and has a heart of gold Her original song Million Miles was dedicated to her grandpa it’s beautiful and it relates to everyone please check it out Ellis Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👼👸🏻👍💕👏👏🥰👋

LOL, won't cry in front of us eh? Okay... Thanks for another great reaction! Word is they had just returned from the funeral. And for the studio version (lyric & 'music video versions) of Million Miles she had said tears were coming as she sang that as well, and I think we hear the emotions even more than the 'live in studio' video.

It doesn't get more authentic than this. And yes, she especially appeals to us older listeners by reviving the music we grew up with. I hope she is able to communicate what great music that was to a younger audience, but also I want her to connect with them in a way they can relate to. And I think she is doing that with some of her performances, like this one. ANGELINA JORDAN (14) feat. The song, by Willie Nelson, was about a relationship failure and breakup, and sadness, and regret about it. Angelina made It about the passing of her grandfather. Music will always be open to the listener’s life experiences. I’m sure Willie would never tell Angie, “no, you got that wrong”.

You thinking “did I miss something?”... then you say “is that her grandfather?” ....... .....then ”I run out of here now” sounded like “I’m going to drawn in tears now”. Yes, she’s VERY authentic! (Re)Check her First Time I Saw Your Face, the second she finish the song she sinks her face in her hand, smiles but doesn’t do hand waving this time. What a kid, what a family! Edit, its also great to have a “shield”, as many don’t have it, instead, their own family throws the kids to hard work to feed the lions.

You totally explained why I listen to Angelina 50 times more than I listen to anyone else, like Dimash Kudaibergen, for instance. He may be, and probably is, the greatest singer in the world, ever, due to a perfect storm of talent, family support, training, determination, etc. There are so many really talented singers (Morissette Amon, Daryl Ong, Dimash, Diana Ankudinova, etc) and I do listen to them. Especially, Morissette and Lara Fabian, who are able to create an emotional connection. But, all are a distant second from Angelina.

I think Ivan Mendez (guitar player) is the best accompanying guitar player that is in synch , emotionally with Angelina. I have many more of her videos to watch and have probably watched 50 of them in the past month but there is something that makes her voice and his playing gel perfectly. These are my favorite videos she has done. There are many more with Ivan out there. I play basic guitar but am by no means a professional. However. I have to comment that I understand how you need to hit an emotion in music to really bring it home to an audience. The same goes with art in general. You are on point in your comments and reactions so no arrows here. Lol...

Until Angelina Jordan came along, all we had were great vocalists using life experiences to convey emotions. It had always been a voluntary response to sense the emotion the vocalist was trying to convey. This typical method of conveying emotions can't explain the overwhelming emotion Angelina conveyed prior to age 12 when she dealt with the pain of losing her paternal grandfather. Prior to this performance, Angelina wasn't trying to be emotional, she just was.

I've said this in a number of comments to reactors, Angelina has an innate ability to convey emotion in a song, but wait till she actually experiences the things she's singing about. Her age is limiting her ability at this time. However much people want to protect Angelina from all those negative things its something that's genuinely missing in many of her performances. Its also something that will develop as she gets older and has those life experiences we all have. Both good and bad.

As I was born in 1970, the music Angelina sing is not my music, not sure what is as I had 3 older siblings + my father all with different music taste (Rock, Jazz, country/pop and "cry me a river songs")- And my grandmother played records with Bagpipe music - so I enjoy most music except the music my sister played ;) This song is on the edge for me, but I like it - mostly because it is Angelina singing her heart out after the loss of her Grandpa.

BTW, your discussion of the use of a “diminished cord” actually DID hold up in the second verse.
