One of those golden folk anthems of the early 60s, this Sylvia Tyson song, so memorably rendered by her and her husband Ian, influenced hordes of us young would-be folkies to run out and buy autoharps. They were $25 at Sears in them good old days.

I was more familiar with the We Five version of this song!!! Didn't know Ian and Sylvia had done it, so I checked out their version!!! Thanks for info and Great job on this classic!!!

I like your cover. I like especially that you followed Ian & Sylvia's original and not just the We Five cover, where they made Sylvia's harmony line the lead, and were followed by most subsequent covers, such as Crispian St. Peters, Nancy Griffith or the Bangles. And, of course, the autoharp & guitars. But it also sounds like your own.

@roragain Roragain: As far as I know, Sylvia is still "with us" as a solo act, and as part of Quartette. Check her out on RU-vid. Unless I missed some very sad news in the recent past. I hope that's not the case. Some of her solo records are impossible to buy, these days, and some were never released in the U.S. But that's even true of the last Ian & Sylvia & the Great Speckled Bird record as far as CD release goes.... I really like her solo version of this song on her CD of the same title

I have searched for different versions of this song... Gotta say this is one of the best I have found!!! Great arrangement, instrumentation and vocals Unfortunately, I have one very big criticism... The playing time is WAY TOO SHORT !!! - lol Really - it would be great to add an instrumental breaks in there Great rendition of the original !!!

Thank you! I did put a short break in there (at 1:56), but only that.

Alonzo. Great wall of sound. You have impeccable rhythm and pitch. What talent. Do you do outside studio work? Brian

@SirCoughsalot Well, NOT a $25 Sears job. It's a late-80s 12-bar, and I stuck an Oscar Schmidt pickup on it.

What kind of autoharp is that you're playing?
