They sold these ships and now retiring it from the game before the game launches. And btw if you bought a variant like the ghost or the tracker they are retiring it before they’ve even flushed out the game mechanics to support your variant. And when it comes to balancing the mk1 balancing could have been implemented without a new mk2 variant being released. I have no problem with ship evolution after the game launches. But selling a ship in an alpha test only to retire it long before the game is launched, is shady. This is the most expensive game in history. And we haven’t even gotten out of alpha testing. The effort to release a mk 2 ship of any kind could have been focused on finishing the game.
The line in the Spectrum FAQ about the MK I addons/modules being limited really angers me as well. The only real fighter pledge I have is a standard F7C Mk I. The modularity to turn it into a Tracker and Ghost is the reason I kept it (I like the looks of it over the Mk II as well, I've liked it since the project was announced). Knowing they might gatekeep these modules from me and other players is really disheartening.
They want to sell the "new" MkII but they don't want people to CCU upgrade their old hornets, especially now that they just increased the price. They want fresh money, badly! CIG thinks that creating FOMO attachment for something which has been made "Rare", will fixate credits inside the players portfolio, as the fans of the old models will be target customers for the new ones to be released. BTW they also hope casual people on the fence will rush buying MkIs before "it's too late"
It's absolutely brutal, I agree! The threat of limiting module availability was the icing on the cake for me. A middle finger to Hornet owners like myself who have wanted the ability to easily switch modules for over a decade under the assumption you just easily grab them in game. Now I am not sure if I'll get them depending on how CIG wants to gatekeep them in the future. No way I'm giving in to this FOMO.
You say this as though people didn't just get a hornet they wanted with all the store credit they have hanging around. All I did was use store credit for a few upgrades to the mk1s I liked and then put them in buy backs. Cig got no additional money off me with this move
This really irks me. I had a couple of CCU lines to concept ships based on ships like the hornet 1. For example, I now have to either make another CCU to the tracker or my hornet track to retaliator CCU for $10 will be useless later. As the talli went up in price this week, it sucks that I have either burn the CCU or build another to the mark 1. So it costs me money. As I am still in the fence with the talli I don’t like feeling pressured. All for ship sales 😡
And that's exactly what they hoped for: FOMO which drain people of fresh cash. I don't care about ships if they can be interchangeable If I don't get an F7C MkI I will get an MkII when I need it, or just fly the Buccaneer given to me with the Caterpillar. I will certainly bring to completion all the CCUs with Hornets inside because they are just replaceable single seat ships with guns and a lot of issues in the 3D model never fixed in 12 years. The RAFT also gives me an F7C for free and I don't need another one which I paid for.
Wondering if (my buy back) for my Super Hornet will still be available? Im kinda sure it will be but im asking if anyone's heard any different. Well....NvM lol you answered my question a lil after 12min into your video, Thanks for the Awesome intel.
You know something? - when i heard the news of MK1 going away - my first reaction was, How much? Should i buy or upgrade? FOMO Then the more i thought about it, and watching your vid, the more i realised.... 'what a crappy business practice '; The game is not even out and they are removing the ships. Thats fine if they were only ever available in game. But the thing is, its completely not nessacary. Thanks CIG but not this time!
Nope. There's absolutely no FOMO with fighters for me. They're at the bottom of the barrel for me when it comes to cash purchases. Their value is upside down in comparison to cost so, there's literally no love lost for me.
@@lordfraybin if it comes with lasers then they would be free if you claim the ship, thats why its important in a way because they are free and dont have to be rebought
@@votpavel Unless they changed it? When you claim, you get the ship/components lost. As it was when it was destroyed, not your default pledge. If you upgraded/swapped any components, they come back with the ship. Your "old" parts are still in your storage, or being used in another ship or sold.
@@votpavel However - my HeartSeeker glitched this patch. The logo is missing and my load out is the same pre-patch (turret w/2 S1 bulldogs on nose, m5 laser & s3 mantis on wings. Default for HS is 3 M4 and 1 M5.
It isn't FOMO if they actually never make the MK I available again. If they stick to their word, remove the Hornet MK I Series from the pledge store and the in-game stores, then those who wanted the Hornet MK I Series but didn't get it before the end of Invictus will just be missing out. I would say CIG's method of other sales is FOMO when they have scheduled rotations of availability.
