A comet powered master of bending couldn't do too much against a young, non-fully realized Avatar state. 3 masters of bending (and an airbender who mastered flight) poisoned the avatar, held her over a vat of lava, and they still struggled against an Avatar state of a newly realized avatar (a weakened avatar state at that, due to Season 2). Thats the closest anyone's got. A fully realized avatar is just way too OP.
The avatar has been gone for over 100 years, all studies of the avatar are all pretty much folklore or legend. Older folk like Iroh, Ozai, or Jeong Jeong still recognize and even fear this power. But younger folk like Zuko don’t think anything of it.
Man, the introduction to Iroh is perfect. They swerve you multiple times with who he really is, but the foreshadowing for all the depth is here at the start
@@MaximumPayine I think they definitely wanted him to be like Yoda, maybe they weren’t clear on exactly. I mean at the start. We know he’s directly related to the king of the fire nation, and however zuko’s scar happened, he knows. We know zuko is scarred. We know iroh is trying to help. We know he has moments of seriousness. We know he used to be a general etc. It’s not hard to see the beginnings
Kinda easy to forget that Iroh was Zuko's Firebending mentor, since we don't see him teach Zuko often. And we learn Iroh is one of the most skilled Firebenders in the entire nation.
Iron fr only taught zuko lightning redirection on screen in terms of teaching him fire bending huh (I get that he gives tips but I’m pretty sure that’s the only move we see him teach zuko)
