It's amazing to see people watch this for the first time having never heard or heard of Elvis. There was another lady, I thank from Africa, who had never heard or heard of him and saw this performance and after it was over, the tears were running down her face as she looked heavenward and said "Oh dear God, please tell me this man is still alive!". Not only had she not ever heard Elvis, she also didn't know he had died 45 years ago.

Hard to come up with words for that performance. Incredible!! Elvis wore several different colors. His manager rarely allowed professional filming at his concerts. There were two documentary movies, two TV specials, and the Aloha From Hawaii concert. These are where most of your reactions are coming from. If you Google pictures of Elvis Presley suits, you'll see other colors as well as many different designs on a white background.

Elvis was not just a human being, he was a god. His looks, his charisma, his perfect voice, his generosity towards his fellow man are all what a god is & he was the one who came down from heaven on that tuesday 08-01-1935 to preach to the world what his father gave him & told him to do. That was not a human being walking out on that stage it was a god expressing & spreading the holy word through his singing...
@beckylb8610
@beckylb8610 Год назад
I think Elvis would adamantly object to being referred to as a god because he didn't like being a king because of his faith. I love your thought! I always think of him as a gift from God that gives perfection (looks, talent, charisma) who also had its troubles and faults. Elvis always said his charisma was Christ within him.

This was just after desegregation began.

Some trivia re: this concert: Producer/Director Marty Pasetta told Parker he want to build a ramp & Parker said no; Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to (Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis); Parker said no; fortunately, he was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker; Elvis, fortunately again, overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build it. He then hugged Pasetta & said your one of the few people who has been honest w-me. Can you imagine how different that concert would have been if Elvis had no close communication w-his audience. It would not have been the same. Thank you.

Interesting reaction. This one is a bit complicated because it was once again Elvis trying to pull everyone together. Much like Bob Marley did with the different way down there in Jamaica. And he caught a lot of flak for initially but before he died he modeled it to the world. He had black people in his band and back when they would tell him that they weren't welcome at a concert he was heading to, he would get angry and tell them then he was going to cancel the show. And then when they said okay, he doubled down on it and said we're going to feature you guys riding out in a convertible where everybody sees my black background singers and everyone in the band. He didn't fuck around and that was so strange for the time for a white guy that was in a position of celebrity like that. But he was born in poverty and never forgot it is my guess. But when I say maybe the theme of the song is complicated it's because it's a short medley of three different songs that were well known to people at that time and really for the hundred years before that and longer. So the first one is Dixieland which is the Song of the South. And some see it as racist but other see it is just where they were born. And it has lots of overtones and Civil Rights Movement was at its height at the time so this is highly risky for him. But he seems it and just such a way to give meaning to where it both honors people from the South but it also questions some of the outcomes. Then it's followed by what ultimate would become our marine battle him but at the time it was known as a song of the north around Civil War times. So now he's straddling these two very opposite divisions at a time when it was like a powder keg in America. And then the third one is a purely religious song that was well-known. All my trials Lord, soon we'll be over. And then he wraps it all together into one Majestic ending after that incredibly beautiful flute solo.

Because he lived during Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, and...the beatles, he could not be diminished. despite his downfall and the trap of prescription drugs, a little bit later in his life, here is an example of cant keeping a good man down. The reaction of Peacesent's friend, shows how Elvis reaches into the mind and soul of whoever is willing to pay attention and feel Elvis's greatness. If they watched and listened to his early music and knew his gospel background, then they'd really understand where this greatness came from. Elvis brings the drama to his performance and this easily replaces his vocals that slowly lose the greatness he had earlier. this performance does have the great vocals of Elvis. but you can tell and see signs of it starting to decay.

Elvis started using drugs in the army back in 1958. Check this out In 1970 Elvis writes to President Nixon (you know, the I am not a crook guy) and Elvis offers his services to help combat illicit drug use in the USA. Elvis mentioned that he knew a lot about drugs and was accepted by the hippies. He said he could go right into a group of young people or hippies and be accepted which he felt could be helpful to him in his drug drive. Nixon and Elvis exchanged pleasantries and agreed that “those who use drugs are in the vanguard of American protest.” In 1977 Elvis dies of drug overdose and drug abuse. Putting Elvis in charge of speaking on narcotic abuse is like leaving Dracula in charge of the blood bank. Hypocrisy: What is an example of hypocrisy? People who tell you not to eat candy while they chomp away on candy all day.
