Day in the life of a plumber
Low water pressure and flow all sorted on this job by installing a power tank. It was first time fitting one of these and I was very happy with the results
As always, thanks for watching, all the support is greatly appreciated

One thing I didn't mention in the video is the kitchen drinking water tap is still on the mains side, the pipework I picked back up only fed the unvented cylinder and the upstairs cold water outlets, thanks for watching

Is there a check valve on the mains, or you may risk pumping back if the valves are not set correctly?
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 10 месяцев назад
There was an existing double check valve after the stop tap in kitchen, thinking about it now I could have put another one on the bypass line if the valve was ever opened, when I go back to do the lagging jacket I will cut one in, thanks for watching

Great job a especially very neat , question if inlet is at 4 litres per minute and outlet at 8 litres per minute how long will it take to empty storage or has it been calculated to last greater than highest demand
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 10 месяцев назад
That was my only concern, it hasn't been a problem yet, I was working on the theory they would run out of hot water before this tank ran dry as it's larger than the cylinder, in theory it's always replenishing itself, they have now asked for flow restrictors in the showers as they are to powerful, which will reduce the usage a bit, thanks for watching mate

Interesting, I was thinking of one for my home. Question, Should they be some kind of check valve on the maintenance bypass valve line to make sure the wrong operation of valves does not try and pump water back up the mains?
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 10 месяцев назад
You are right, I thought about this after and I have now put one in when I did the lagging jacket, it doesn't show one in the instructions but under the right circumstances it could pump back, thanks for watching

Did I see you using an air test unit to pump sludge through the radiators on another video? Do you have a link for the unit?

Would you need a none return on the bypass? ? If you don't and the valves are opened could the pump be pushing back into the mains ? Just a thought.
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 10 месяцев назад
You are correct, there was one after the stop tap but I should have put one in, when I go back to do the lagging jacket I will put one in, thanks for watching
@dennisphoenix1
@dennisphoenix1 10 месяцев назад
@@PlumbLikeTom a low pressure flap type would be ideal otherwise the spring pressure in a normal none return would decrease the mains pressure even more 😔
@dennisphoenix1
@dennisphoenix1 10 месяцев назад
@@PlumbLikeTom you will definitely need a none return in the bypass otherwise it could end up cycling. Drawing water from the tank going through the bypass and back into the float valve.

Is there a temperature gauge for a stored cold water 😅 Hopefully he uses often that tank , I wouldn’t be surprise if the manufacturer states that tank needs cleaning once a year or something, but good job . We’ll done
@PlumbLikeTom

Who installed that unvented with such a poor flow rate ? Would have been better with a CWSC and vented cylinder with a salamander pump o the outlet .
@PlumbLikeTom
@PlumbLikeTom 10 месяцев назад
I`ve no idea who installed the cylinder, I just inherited the problem, I would have struggled to get a CWSC, this option has solved the issue and the customer is happy which is the main thing, thanks for watching as always
@dennisphoenix1
@dennisphoenix1 10 месяцев назад
@@PlumbLikeTom I imagine there was a gravity system in at some point ? Before the unvented was fitted. It's a good solution the power tank . Had similar flow and pressure issues with electric showers in old 3 storey houses . I said it needed a pump and break tank but the landlord wouldn't spend the money.
