I must be odd, a dirty, grimy, muddy sports car looks better than a show room queen. Can't wait for more of the classic series. Been going through my cars I had when I was much younger and hope you will also include cars like Ford RS 1600, Ford Seirra RS Cosworth and even a Renault 5 Turbo which at the age of 18 felt like the fastest car in the world lol.

There are companies that sell a valve controller for the standard valves. so you can open and close them from in the car and won't have the drone on the motorway

Great to see a car being used not afraid of getting it dirty or sticking miles on , and not just driving it around London at walking pace and thinking that’s what you use a performance car for

I really like the fact there are not too many pops and bangs which I personally am not huge fan of. The Sharkwerks just has a really nice natural tone.

Speaking of the modern classics series. I've got one for ya, the Mercedes Benz SLR Mclaren. It's been a favorite of mine ever since it first came out. I just think that it's one of the most beautiful supercars that has ever been built

Those things you talk about (drama on upshift/downshift etc.) is also because of not using a Manual Transmission..... on a GT3 (or actually any sportscar) with manua trans. the car engine/sound (on upshift & downshift) will sound FAAAAAR more dramatic and sexy.... PDK/dualclutch makes the car shift and hence go faster, but you are missing out on some important driving experience when not having manual transmission....

James you just need a remotely operated gizmo which overides the vacuum controller. A quick google and I see that a company called CARNEWAL, have such a system for the Porsche 991 and others. I have a similar Forza Componetti version for my Audi RS and it works great., valves open or closed on my say so, via a remote fob.

The difference is so huge that for me you have only one way to go.

Great video James, I hope everyone will do it. However, I find it really disappointing to think that they don't come out of the factory sounding like that. Its a freaking GT3 for crying OUT LOUD....

And I thought the GT3 exhaust had a wonderful sound before, now it pops at low revs too!

You REALLY had to have a shop plug your valves? Like a 10 min DIY job. So, the valves CLOSE when when the button is pressed? That's weird. A valve exhaust is such a huge plus - you see a copper and you close the valves. That's a plus I wouldn't live without

curious why you didnt go for a side-muffler delete which makes a much nicer sound than center delete and removes approx 45lb from the rear of the car. it also offers the ability to KEEP the valves, and you DO get the sound you're looking for on downshifts. most of us who did center delete have moved to "valved side-delete".. one of the few "win-win" options which makes sense under all circumstances over the center delete. your current solution was the 50% before we figured out the best gt3 exhaust solution.

One more, since Mercedes has billion models and i dont know them but how about that 2 door amg grand tourer that looks like a slr...lol. sorry i just dont know Mercs.

If you're taking the classic series to the likes of Evo 6 (what a car!) then what about classic imprezas? I used to have an RB 320 & know a guy who has the best examples of RB320 & RB5. If you saw it, Top Gear mag used his RB5 for a classics type feature.

Don’t Sharkwerks or any other manufacture offer a ‘valvetronic’ exhaust system? Whereby the exhaust valves can always stay open or always stay closed - That’d solve the droning problem (if there is any) and also loud noise for when you maybe don’t want it (early mornings etc)...but then you have the functionality to always keep the valves open, so you essentially get what you’ve now got right now

If you want to go crazy... Id check out the JCR titanium exhaust!

I’m amazed that you had to drive how far to get a, literally, two minute job in your own garage done by a shop!! Pull tube off and plug it. Job jobbed! Ah well.......

I don't get it, the installed the "golf tee mod" in BMW speak but instead he could've just pressed the active exhaust button. I also own a Porsche sport exhaust and that button works well. I never wanted to open valves permanently since the can be opened and closed in any mode. Didn't quite understood that.

Please provide your mailing address so I can mail you some money, your are clearly suffering from tweaking the GT3 to just the right exhaust note. There is much trouble in the world, but unsatisfying exhaust notes should not be one of them.

Mr JWW, you may be able to take out the fuse that opens/closes the exhaust valves. I did this on my camaro ZL1 and now the valves always stay open.

So basically you've forced the valves open all the time (bmw owners will remember the old golf tee mod) Does sound very good, but a better solution would be remap the oem switch so that when on it opens the valves at any revs, and when off (say cruising on motorway) you can have it quieter

Could the same thing be achieved by installing a Cargraphic valve control unit? You can control the valves being open all the time or closed. With the factory exhaust button on, it still closes the valves below a certain rpm.

This is torture for car enthusiasts in California. Leaving open lowers back pressure and you lose low end torque.

if my car sounded like that the police in the uk would slam me into the ground. but because that cars expensive it kinda gets a free pass. especially in the south.

I think the gt3 is the pinnacle of automotive ! 500 hp ,n/a engine, lovely sound ,reliability, cool daily and track killer ...mclaren ,ferrari ,lambo and so on are properly pointless and too ostentatious ...my opinion

Why can’t they put a gate valve in front of the current valve actuated by the dash button so you can bypass. Would be very easy and cheap to do. Get the best of both worlds!
